  1. Looks like he cant take a punch now. That said, Hill is a bit of a different breed. He's very cerebral, has sick accuracy and hits like a truck. He's one of those fighters that seems to slow reality down. Recently talked about fighting Juri. That's confidence because I feel Prochazka is the best up and comer in that division.
  2. It was light hearted but we actually got into a fun chat about this in one of the threads a while back. There have been some cool studies. A poster pointed out the 'smarts' of the mustard seed plant as an example. I have read that some plants 'know' when they are being eaten and react in certain ways, some know the sounds of their predators and release chemicals and vibrations. I heard of a plant in Africa that, as a defense, releases chemicals to attract the predators of the bugs that might be attacking it. One study talked about plants learning...they would tip over potted plants every day and the plants would react defensively and curl up. After a while the plants realised that they wouldn't be harmed so they stopped reacting when tipped over. There are many fun studies. There is some sort of intelligence... I leave you with the words of Maynard James Keenan.. And the angel of the lord came unto me Snatching me up from my place of slumber And took me on high and higher still Until we moved to the spaces betwixt the air itself And he brought me into a vast farmlands of our own Midwest And as we descended cries of impending doom rose from the soil One thousand nay a million voices full of fear And terror possessed me then And I begged Angel of the Lord what are these tortured screams? And the angel said unto me These are the cries of the carrots, the cries of the carrots! You see, Reverend Maynard Tomorrow is harvest day and to them it is the holocaust And I sprang from my slumber drenched in sweat Like the tears of one million terrified brothers and roared "Hear me now, I have seen the light! They have a consciousness, they have a life, they have a soul! Damn you! Let the rabbits wear glasses! Save our brothers! Can I get an amen? Can I get a hallelujah? Thank you Jesus
  3. I'm very sorry Hip. There's nothing more that can be said. No sugar coating. Losing one's dad is a hard day, I know. You are strong. I know from years of reading your insightful and intelligent posts. You will be strong through this for your family and yourself. Crack a bottle of whiskey and raise one for him.
  4. Knucklemania 2 tonight. Couple UFC dudes, Perry and Mendes on the card.
  5. The peoples champ will have yet another great game and we roast these ducks. Go Nucks.
  6. Except on the pk. His numbers there are terrible. Not blaming him but that is the truth. The whole PK , including him, is the pits. That said, Demko is our superstar. He is a player on the team. We rely on him just like Washington relies on OV.
  7. Why the F are people relating this to the occupiers? every comment section i have read is doing it. The attackers got away. They are not there. They were not captured. The occupiers are in plain sight. They had these extreme measures brought on themselves by blocking our major trade routes. The camp incident was violent eco terrorism and I have no doubt that they will be charged fully if/when they are caught. I keep reading " oh sure, JT isn't doing anything about the Coastal link attack but has no problem rounding up protesters blah, blah" Again, the attackers got away. Coordinated swift guerrilla style crime. There is nobody to charge right now.
  8. Maybe whoever did this thought it was a perfect time as the nation is distracted by the occupiers . Even VPD sent officers to Ottawa.
  9. I would love to hear the full story. The effort to do this doesn't seem lazy at all. I dont think these types care about protesting. They want to terrorise and devalue the project. The number of 20 people is under estimated too. How many were also at the road block throwing smoke bombs and flaming sticks injuring an officer? Some shots show lots of trees down. Tar covered stumps, spike boards are also reported. I feel the prep and execution of this would have taken quite a few more people than reported. Nephews buddy is pretty shook up. Apparently has a bunch of pics. I havent seen them yet as I worked solo this morn, just talked on the phone.
  10. OK, so. My co-worker/nephew-in-law is an ex-logger and heavy equipment operator. We have a two man company building timber frame farm buildings. Of course he has a friend that is working up in this camp. Here's some of the details from this buddy. It was insane. They surrounded the security officers that were in their vehicles. When the officers refused to get out of the vehicles they smashed through the windows and ripped them out. They detained/ took them hostage in one of the buildings. They got into excavators and started destroying everything. He claimed it went on for about two hours, seemed like forever. Said the reports so far dont do the event justice, it was that intense. Here's the interesting part to me. When I asked if it was first nations, my nephew said his buddy wasn't sure. Didn't think they were local, called them 'out of towners'. I heard this facility is part of the most expensive project in Canada's history. LNG. Could this be internationally backed eco terrorists?
  11. But do all machines have keys? Some have a keypad punch code start. Like the skid steer I use. They could be jump started too, I'm sure. 30 people isn't many if they are sleeping and unprepared. How many guards are usually at a camp of that size? How many work graveyard shifts? Edit...also the workers fled, did not sit back and watch. They were overwhelmed, flare guns in your face, 20+ people going nuts with weapons, maybe machines smashing around...all as you wake up.
  12. I would guess they got into an excavator to do the damage. You're right, how did they pull it off to such a high level of success? Again, I'm stunned at the coordination. Was it that fast? It would have taken the RCMP ages to clear the road block that was still 41km away. No help was coming.
  13. Agreed. I bet there is quite a few more than just 20 though. Actually there was, they blocked the road. These would have been a group of their warriors. I am stunned at how well organised it was. RCMP said responding officers were met with a blockade of downed trees, tar-covered stumps, boards with spikes, and fires at the forestry road’s 41 km mark. As police worked their way past the debris, people threw smoke bombs and fire-lit sticks at them. One officer was injured.
  14. BTW. They guys on the radio are the worst. They hate the Canucks.
  15. I had to go to bed early so I put the 3rd period on the radio. I drifted off and woke up to hear... JT Miller!
  16. Its wild huh? Coordinated. 20 people. Very strategic ambush. Do you think they were motivated by how the trucker protesters are being treated with kids gloves, yet pipeline protesters get heavy hands?
  17. Totally agree. I think this will be a big story. It has its own thread now.
  18. I posted this in the world events. But I think you are right for it to have it's own thread. This is a crazy story that shows quite the escalation of pipeline conflicts. Just wild. They blocked the road in fist to prevent the RCMP from getting there. Really coordinated.
  19. Wow. Northern BC. Violent overnight attack at Coastal GasLink site leaves workers shaken, millions in damage https://vancouversun.com/news/local-news/coastal-gaslink-site-attacked-overnight-with-millions-in-damage-to-equipment '...Very early Thursday, just after midnight, Coastal GasLink security called RCMP for help, reporting it was under attack by about 20 people, some wielding machetes and axes. RCMP Chief Supt. Warren Brown, commander for the north district, called the attack a “calculated and organized violent attack that left its victims shaken and a multi-million dollar path of destruction.”'
