  1. It does, but the dude has also rolled with Zuck and does have a bjj blackbelt. I am disappointed in GSP offering to help Elon. I am disappointed in myself for posting so much about this publicity stunt. It's not gonna happen.
  2. This is what I am talking about with Musk. Elon Musk earns praise after training with BJJ black belt who has also sparred Mark Zuckerberg ahead of potential UFC fight https://talksport.com/sport/mma/1480664/elon-musk-praise-bjj-black-mark-zuckerberg-ufc/ “I did an impromptu training session with Elon Musk for a few hours yesterday,” Fridman tweeted on Monday alongside photos from their workout. “I'm extremely impressed with his strength, power, and skill, on the feet and on the ground. It was epic. It's really inspiring to see Elon and Mark doing martial arts. Those odds will get closer as people realise Elon didn't become an evil genius without having some tricks up his sleeve. Plus he has more money, he can pay the ref off more. Still hoping for that double DQ.
  3. Kevin is good stuff. And I appreciate you not digging in your bag drawer. Thank you.
  4. There's some of those onion layers. Thank you. So, we're talking about inclusion. A night and sweater that simply says that you are welcome. I have pointed out codes of conducts like many other major orgs as a solution. I know Mastermind likes to point out that he predicted this. Points to him but I dont care. I actually like that there is now this bigger backlash, fans and players a like talking about it. I think some people, for some reason forget that the fans are the boss. The only boss. It feels like some fans are now getting lectured for their strong opinions. Feels like " well, you made too much noise, now you will be punished'. The only problem with that is it goes against the majority and the bosses wishes ( us fans). Back to the onion....the scarey naked human body is a good convo. For the record I would not take a kid to a pride parade. at least not one that isn't mature enough to understand what they are seeing. Too much sexy stuff. I have been to dozens of pride parades, my wife liked to donate to all the charities and we collected the 'Loving Spoonful' fridge magnets. Those events have a really good community supportive side. But I hated going, I hate parades in general. The Vancouver one usually starts with dikes on bikes. Mostly an unhealthy toppless crew of bikers that I would rather not see. I also never went to wreck beach. However I cant believe, and this is a shot to all of our society, how much we hate on the naked human body. While we glorify killing, crime, and brutality in all aspects of our society. Anyway. theres a lots of point to go through. The one you point out about trans in sports has my interest and I have some strong opinions. I also believe that a developed brain is needed to make a choice, so I may have some conroversial thoughts about youths transitioning. I know you can't catch 'gay'. I dont believe a drag story teller is going to convert any children.
  5. Morgo made a post? He's been handing brown bags to me this morn as well but I dont think he has bothered to say anything. I think you are talking about Kevin. I too am interested about what 'some other things promoted under the rainbow banner and Pride iconography' means. What other things? Do we not get to know now because Deb is deemed in poor taste, poor statements and disingenous? Kev, I dont know if everyone means well in this discussion but I think you do. I think all conversation is constructive, far better than drive by brown bagging. Please explain what you meant, in time. If you don't, that's ok. This onion has layers and can be hard to get into details in an online convo.
  6. It was terrible. Dada and Kimbo had beef going back to street fight days. Should have been a bareknuckle fight, not an mma fight.
  7. I would have watched that. Green Ranger once challenged JCVD.
  8. Oh, its bound to be awful. If I'm Musk I stand in the middle of the cage and let Zuck come to me. Being older and looking over weight he would have to conserve energy. Zuck will be forced to try to get the fight to the ground. If Musk has the wrestling, judo and bjj like he says he should be able to stuff any take down. His best bet would be to make it ugly and dirty box the much smaller Zucky. Zuck does have some fencing in his background though, this would help with footwork.
  9. What I am getting at is that Musk has been doing a bit here and there. There is even footage of him Sumo rasslin'. Big size difference. Age does matter but can Zuck punch? can that skinny neck take a punch? He's gonna need more than BJJ. Again though, the excuses are already starting to brew.
  10. Those are changing pretty quick. GSP stepping up to help Musk is an influence. People are also starting to discover that Elon does in fact have some tricks up his sleeve. Pics (and praise) of him mma training, mention of him having some wrestling along with karate, TWD, and BJJ. I still don't believe it though. It's a stunt. Already excuses. Dana talking about it being a size mismatch and hard to sanction ( liar). Elons mom and dad saying it shouldn't/won't happen. Zuck disputing Sonnens claim that the fight will take place at UFC300. Anyway, hope it doesn't happen. It will suck. The best result if it does happen is a double DQ in the first minute and the both cry their way out of the cage.
  11. I lived in the WestEnd of Vancouver for over 20 years. A gay neighbourhood. A wonderful place where you felt could talk to anyone walking down the street. I have had hundreds of pints sitting in the Fountain Head enjoying one of the best cities in the world around some great people. I moved back to Vancouver island 4 years ago. I hardly ever see/meet people from the LGBTQ community anymore. I miss the diversity but the folks i'm around here on the island are awesome. What I am getting at is that I dont understand those that say things like ' they dont need to throw it in our face, It's everywhere these days' I don't think it is. Maybe the odd tv commercial, maybe a beer has spokesperson...but it's not everywhere, it's not coming after your kids. 'It', the community, are just looking for some inclusion in a world that is clamping down. Entire countries making laws against gay people, hate crimes going up fast in the last few years. Pride night is one night of the year. One night out of 365. Nothing is being thrown in your face.
  12. Jeepers. WTF lady? What a twisted nut.
  13. Fair enough. Who's ass is the little old man talking about? My guess is that he is just doing the...'I'm set in my ways and beliefs so I don't have to respect yours, because I served.'...? Whoever that is that he might be upset with... For the record, every generation in my familly on both sides has served. Never met my grandfathers. My great grandfather died on Flanders Field. When I was competing in martial arts I would get inspiration from my cousin while he did his tours in Afghanistan and Iraq. We would email each other and he would tell me tales and send pics. I would tell him 'if you can do that, I can shake my nerves and put myself in the next tourny.' I'm against any war, as everyone should be. However, huge respect for any person that serve their country.
  14. Why wont you say what group they were associated with? They are strange people, whoever they are. I understand trying to push for a world that doesn't go to war. Who wouldnt want that? but to bring drama to a day meant to give thanks for sacrifice is wrong. and who's ass is that man not wanting to kiss? I mean he had t-shirt made up, who's he talking to ? this war monger yelling mystery group?
  15. Who is that t-shirt directed at? Who's ass does this nice looking old fella think he has to kiss? It's weird. I can't believe there are groups calling people that show respect on Remembrance day, war mongers. That's wrong imo. Does it happen alot? I understand that there has always been pacifists. They are some lovely people but who the blinking blank would call those showing respect to those that served, war mongers....?! thats wacked.
  16. It wouldn't get that far if it was simply in the code of conduct. You would sign it before you play. I believe many top orgs have these in place. But yeah, the NHL screwed up here. Changed their stance over a few.
  17. It's important to point out that the players do have a choice. We all have choice. They don't have to play for the NHL if their belief is that important to them. However, in these cases....nothing happened. Nobody got fined or suspended, right? Why not contiune on with some people refusing if they must?
  18. We once fired a group of our doorstaff ( bouncers). They were not at work, they didn't break any laws. What they did was break our code of conduct while off duty. They were at another nightclub, got drunk, took of their shirts and were dancing on tables. It made the clients and employees of the club nervous. The management reached out and we acted. Some of the guys couldn't believe it. They were just having fun. It was on their own time. What they came to realise is that when you sign a code of conduct and policies, you have to adhere to those restrictions. This, imo, is the simplest solution to this controversy. These millioniares should not get a choice. We are the paying public, without us there is no league. If the majoity wants nights/sweaters that help us build our society and community then that's what we should get. Having a code of conduct makes it easy for a player to say ' i dont have a choice, I wear it or don't have work' As has been mentioned before, many people don't agree with war but have to wear military sweaters or support betting logos...milk logos... Edit: thx @Gurn exactly. I was typing this longwinded version of what you just posted.
  19. This is bad. They need to look into the grocery model. They were just mentioning it on the news. They must increase the venders at the major chains. More selection. I ran some liquor stores, we have dozens and dozens of venders we could buy from. That's not the case in grocery. I knew a guy that ran a chain of grocery stores back in the day. He would tell stories of pressure, restrictions, and brand blocking( If you don't carry our one brand exclusively, then you don't get our other top selling brands)
  20. I dont know why you quoted me. I was talking about forcing kids to believe that they may burn forever in eternal damnation. But yes I have heard the reports of wide spread child molestation with the church. Scarey stuff. As for parades, I agree that they are too spicey . Not so much the nudity, because, I mean...the naked human body is not gross. However, too much sexy business for me. I wouldnt' take a kid.
  21. I hear people talk of indoctrination of children. I was. Sunday school and St Mathews UK. The movie I feared more than any other was The Omen . My brother used to show me lots of movies too old for me but this was the only one that gave me nightmares, the concept more than any scene in the moive. I was taught that shit was real. If we sit back and really be honest, it is awful what is done to children. They dont get a choice. They are taught that demons are eternal damnation is real. That hell is real, it's where you go if you are a bad boy. This started at 5 years old FFS. I know its not really the topic but this sky fairy stuff comes up and gets defended as if its something rational. Like it isn't still everywhere...make believe...everwhere God, keep our land...
  22. I'm very sorry that you have had to go through this. Everything might be hell right now but a take away is that you found out so early on. Leave her and do not look back. I promise you that the world will still turn and you will find someone that will treat you with the respect and love you deserve. Have faith in yourself and just focus on putting one foot infront of the other. Remember, and this is very important, none of this is your fault. Breathe deep, treat yourself to a break, watch shows that make you chuckle and call an old friend. We only get one crack at this existence and you may have just dodged many years of hurt.
  23. Please expand on what you mean. Who was being forced? I have mentioned a few times that there was no punishment for any players that refused to wear the sweaters in warm up. Or am I forgetting something?
