  1. That is my first thought, every single day of my 'life'.
  2. Leaving Demko to hang is what we have done for a long while. He is a big part of the core. An allstar goalie. We had never properly addressed getting good D to support him. Didn't mean the team didn't try hard till the end and often came back to win. They just didnt' have the horses on D, the right side mostly.
  3. I want nothing more than to be surprised. Who they hired and how they did it deserves fair criticism. side note...I now hear some posters ( not you) saying that we also had a loser mentality...where does that come from? Last year we were 3rd in teams coming back from trailing to win. We scored tons but had dodgy goal tending/ D so we were 13 ( ithink) in blown leads. We didn't have a loser mentality, we tried hard to always climb back into games. What we had was an underwhelming D-group and a Demko that wasn't there for us in the early going. That said, I do like the new additions, however as I stated I'm not blown away. This is a big season coming up. AQ has never looked so bad for various reasons and apathy about the team is setting in amongst a lot of people I know. They screw up this next season and a lot of things could go even further south....including EP looking elsewhere to be on a winning team.
  4. Does he? He talks a good game but his head coaching record is a losing one. I remember him as head coach of the Yotes, dont remember them as a tough, hard workers etc... Anyway, my point is that they didn't do their due diligence. Did they intereview all candidates, did they hire the best one for the job? The decorated JR hasn't done much to impress me either. I dont buy too much inot the country club stuff, seemed like it was just a slight to BB, I felt he dragged his ass to get us D-help when he first arrived and his handling of BB's dismissal was straight up gross. Ok, some positives about the brass for me. I like Alvin from the litte I have seen and our assistant coaches seem great. I know what you mean when you say soft as butter but I don't like saying it that way. We need to work harder, finish checks, improve team D but that squad had the most fights in the league, mostly Schenn, but it's a harsh diss to say soft as butter when they would often knuckle up if needed.
  5. Do you remember those jerseys? My god they were a mess.
  6. I think the points should be better based on Demko being himself to start and as I mentioned a more experienced core. Who knows if we make the dance. On paper we looked good going into last season but we all know what happened. I like the new additions but I'm not blown away. I am a big fan of the core, I've supported Miller since he got here and was thankful they kept him over Bo. I liked Bo but just knew JT gave us more. However, we then brought in a nepo-coach with a crap head coaching record. I was gutted. They didn't try to find the best candidate, they went with mediocre Rick. If he proves me wrong I will happily admit it. Like all of us, i just want a cup before my last breath.
  7. I'm not sure. Seems par for the course, dont think on paper we look too much better than the start of last season. That said, our core is great and will have another year of development under their belt. I also cant stand Rick. I have very little faith in him. I cant wait for the season to start so that i can be proven wrong. I'm pretty sure that has happened at least once or twice in my life, but I cant quite remember.
  8. Yes, they post their jobs as temp etc... Then I read that they dont have enough staff. No kidding, people want/need stability in their employment. Though I disagree, throwing money at the employment problem is exactly what should happen. 40% of sailings cancelled due to staffing shortages is not acceptable. As you mention, it is a vital service. It should be a crown corp again even if it opperates at a loss.
  9. They're sh*tting the bed again this long weekend. Hitting whales while they're at it. Garbage corp. Hire more staff ya lousy, useless, joke of a service.
  10. haha, But they did already get at him about the whole spooky connection at a distance thingy....but at least he was still around. Non-local and entanglement is baffling and to think that dark matter might be interacting with gravity in a non-local way is ....it hurts my mellon. So many differnt ideas about how things work coming out these days. It's one of the reasons I hope I live a long life, I want to know more about what all this everything is.
  11. Challenging Einstein – New Study Suggests That Dark Matter Interacts With Gravity in a Non-Local Way https://scitechdaily.com/challenging-einstein-new-study-suggests-that-dark-matter-interacts-with-gravity-in-a-non-local-way/#:~:text=The new research from SISSA,move%2C” state the authors. I find this facinating.
  12. Some of the locals stopped by yesterday so I shared a few of my apples and pears, good folks. The guy with the horns, I call him Rogers, is very friendly. I dont let him come too close because, well, he has a nice rack. Hmmm, I have never said that about a dude before.
  13. Burry is down 42% so far on his short. https://finbold.com/heres-how-much-michael-burry-is-down-on-his-1-6-billion-bet-against-stock-market/
  14. I heard there was a loop hole a few years back. As a foreigner, if you leased a commercial space ( tiny, cheap one if youre set to scam) and claimed that you were intending to open a business there. Then you could purchase a home in Canada without any issues. Then simply let the lease run out and never open the supposed business.
  15. I was just reading this from Feb. of this year. Reality check—foreign buyers aren’t buying up B.C.’s housing stock https://www.fraserinstitute.org/article/reality-check-foreign-buyers-arent-buying-up-bcs-housing-stock ...Let’s take B.C. as an example, where there’s long been concern about foreign buyers particularly in the Lower Mainland. In 2020, non-occupant investors owned 23.3 per cent of units in the province. That seems to align with the foreign buyer story. But when we drill down into the data, the story changes. Non-resident investors owned only 2.5 per cent of all houses while businesses owned another 2.5 per cent. The numbers are higher for condominium units, with 7.0 per cent owned by non-resident investors and 8.6 per cent owned by businesses. In other words, if a condo building has 100 units, we should expect foreign investors or businesses to own roughly 16 of them. That’s a far cry from claims that foreign investors and companies are buying up entire condo towers. In reality, most investors who own housing units in B.C. are Canadian individuals rather than companies or foreign buyers. Of the 16.5 per cent of houses owned by non-occupant investors in the province, 9.8 per cent (much more than half) were owned by British Columbians and 1.7 per cent by other Canadians. Of the 36.2 per cent of condos owned by non-occupant investors, 18.1 per cent were owned by British Columbians and 2.6 per cent by other Canadians. In other words, Canadians own the majority of investment properties in B.C.
  16. whats the time frame of 'now'? where are your 3 in 5 stats from... is it the same in BC?
  17. Thank you. I have been thinking that for a long while. We have such low inventory, and BC is such a desirable place to live... Correction, sure...crash, I dunno.
  18. What about old folks sitting on legacy properties. Would they be able to defer this 12% tax like regular property taxes still?
  19. Weed! Canopy is blowing the lid off. up 45% today as I type this., Actually all the pot stocks are rising, thanks Mr Biden.
  20. He says the bubble bursting is 'inevitable' then a min later says ' wouldn't say it's imminent' He couldve been talking about mortgage rates rising when he said the second part. How long has the bubble been going/growing? What are the thresholds that signal the market is in a bubble? I figure someone on here can tell me...income to home price? some comparisons to the USA? I have been hearing about a 'bubble' for over a decade. If I had panicked and got out of the market, or downsized, I would have missed out on a lot of money. In this very thread there were posters saying the sky is falling back in 2016. I remember well as I was gearing up to buy my biggest purchase. So glad I didn't listen. Not saying there isn't a downswing coming, not saying there isn't a problem, just saying that people have been calling this for a long time.....maybe it's just a long time coming? In related news. My niece and nephew, along with their partners just bought 124 acres in Nanoose for $1.42 mil. It backs onto crown land with tons of great lumber. Very happy for them and stoked at the opportunity. They can build a home for each couple and split the land. Cost of build plus $721k for a home on 62 acres, per couple, in a great part of central island. That's a success story in the making.
  21. Going into the next season with the least amount of care in my 4 decades of supporting this team. Luke warm expectations, mostly because of Rick. Maybe I will be surprised but I'm not holding my breath.
