Wow, what a story. I guarantee we know some of the same people. I know you are 4 years older than me. I recently had two of the toughest old Parksville dudes help me with some renos....both 4 years older then me. One went on to be a US Marine (cause he is dual) and he was a world ranked Mauy Thai fighter at one point. I went to that elementary school.

I remember one time, it was becoming a annual event, Duncan was coming to beat up the Parksville guys. It always went off at night outside the Sandcastle dance at the community centre. However this year, some of the Parksville guys had challenged some dudes from Port Alberni. They showed up, in a bus! and immediately started scrapping the Duncan thugs. Masterful move Parksville kids!. At one point, '97 ...Parksville cancelled the festival, there was an actually a riot. True stories.

Tiger, lion, dog and two cats. All tested positive. All live in NY.

I don't want to win second place. Those kids used to come wreck our Parksville sandcastle weekends. Trying to beat everyone up. Who gives steroids to high schoolers? Then again, they were pretty good at hockey. BTW, Nanoose Bay does not exist. No need for anyone to try to find it. If you come for a visit and turn right after getting off the ferries in Nanaimo, do not stop until you see goats on a roof. Then you should pull over for an ice cream.

That's great news. We can use people like you in the new republic. Make sure your papers are in order and no funny business. Lucky is a fair but strong leader. He won't tolerate any nonsense.

Paradise. I'm nominating @luckylager as our new leader of the separation.

Haha, that's great. I played soft ball as well as baseball for years. My first softball team had no name but was sponsored by 'The Ladies Auxiliary'. It was written across our chests on a patch. A bunch of 8yr old boys. We got teased a lot. Good job we were a great team, became Island champs. Came 4th in BC if I recall correctly. Getting teased all the way.

Doug. I want him to change his name to just ....Doug. https://www.insider.com/john-oliver-mercilessly-trolls-ufc-dana-whites-name-and-baldness-2020-6

lol! He could hardly play it too. Maybe he should have left in on the diamond and go back to an actual instrument. I remember the best thing about that band was we had stickers the stated 'It sucks to be you'. OUr friends were in a band called DSK . They were good friends of this upcoming band from LA called Tool. One of these stickers somehow made it onto Maynards bumper of his car. He pointed it out in an interview. I was soo stoked as I had already become a fan. I have a poster still from the Town Pump where Tool was the first opening act for a DSK and Salvador Dream show.

I was in a band called Pierce for a short stint. We had a DJ and upright base and tried to do a funk/alt Chilli Peppers esq vibe....That band was not very good. At all.

Don't be sorry.

Agreed but I kinda do like Foo Fighters because it has a cool story.

Haha, they were. Cool memory. I remember them saying that their current label would not let them change their name. They stood their ground, got released and rolled the dice heading to the states to start over. It worked out for them.....even if it was for just 'one thing' ....$$$$$$

I hung out with a band of that name , playing on the same gig. Edge Fest in Barry Park Ont. Before they became Finger 11

Tough place indeed. I wanted to see JJ vs the Predator.

Giblet looked great.

Why do that? Women are awesome. It's sucks to use a feminine version of his name as derogatory attack.
-
I was thinking of that exact scene. I thought it was the back of a toilet they hit him with...don't know why I have that in my memory. Either way, awful footage. Edit: god, why did I do that? Just watched a bit of it again. They hit him with lots of crap. Animals is right.

I remember watching that live. Rodney King right? Crazy footage. Henry Rollins has a spoken word that came out right after that. 'Talking from the Box' He has some pretty hairy details regarding living in the area. I remember one story about some nerds that worked in an electronics shop, a sure target for looters. They put up plywood saying "Already looted and burned. Tenants live upstairs" The one story shop was left alone but the McD's beside was destroyed.

I wondered the same thing from wiki :Redneck is a derogatory term chiefly but not exclusively applied to white Americans Either way, I didn't see the title as misleading at all. They called themselves 'Rednecks' and not that I support regular citizens carrying big guns around. Compared to what has been happening lately I see these guys trying to do what they think is a noble act. Stop looters and keep the cops honest.
-
They called themselves 'heavily armed rednecks'.

Everyone's circumstances are different, I agree. I was making a comment about the article you posted. That 'group' in T.O. was criticised for not doing as you suggest, social distancing. 'Last weekend, a bunch of youngsters in Toronto took to a local park in large numbers. The photos and video from the scene made it appear nobody present cared a jot about social distancing.' What is 'WHY'? ('If they want to go to a beach, work or WHY')

Me too..It's a kneeling Bloodchoke. JJ agrees with you. 'Anyone who has practiced the very basics of jujitsu recognizes a #bloodchoke when they see this. That was as clear as day #murder #torture' I posted Jon's take because he is one of the best fighters ever to step in the cage. He has felt these choke attempts more than any of us. He described what the cops were doing for 6 mins, would be pure torture.

No kidding but I thought it was an interesting take from someone knows his Jui Jitsu. He is quite experienced in police interactions too ( had a few troubles himself) What Jon is pointing out though is that it not just that the man is 200lbs, it's also the very nasty technique he is using.

I get what the author of the piece is saying. Still, the tag Boomer remover became immediately popular when this thing got going. If you're going to write a piece that put people into age groups, then in general it is the younger people being reckless and do not give two F's about the older generation. But in reality it's not just young people. It's a blend of freedom warriors throughout all ages groups. TO does not have it's sh!t together right now, so I am surprised at an article asking for some slack... because it`s really hard to be a young adult? Also, I am pretty sure Woodstock had a lot of detractors. Just cause it happened in a time of an pandemic, doesn't mean it should have, nor does it set a public gathering standard for an approach to the unknown covid. The article also states it's all about fear. Why do people have to be accused of being afraid when maybe they are just trying to make sure we all get this right?
