[Official] Vancouver Whitecaps Thread

They should have cleaned the entire house out, not just the porch. Been hard to watch them this year. -
Love Brian. I like to brag about how I met him when I was 15 ( yonks ago). We're both from Oldham England. We were both musicians at the time ( well, me dreaming of being one...he was in a band named Dare). He told me to have something to fall back on and that he was still taking courses. Looks like Brian made the right career choice, seems to have turned out for him I really enjoyed his Infinite Monkey Cage shows.

The translation was great, I was a little concerned too. Did you hear Amazon is dropping 1 billion into a TV series? I will check out Seveneves, thank you again.

So, I was babbling away about concepts of communication using quantum entanglement and and an idea that aliens could use other dimensions..... Anyway, @RUPERTKBD chimed in and asked 'have you read the Three Body Problem? Now I understand why this book popped into his head with what I was going about. I'm sure he had some chuckles as he read my clumsy ideas about physics. Cixin Liu is an acclaimed Chinese author that lays out so many cool ideas, it had me giddy. Rup, I can not thank you enough for suggesting this book. I picked up last week and finished it last night. When I wasn't reading it, I was thinking about it. I can't wait to get into the next one. If you like sci-fi and physics I don't know how you could not enjoy this book. A must read on my list. https://www.amazon.com/Three-Body-Problem-Remembrance-Earths-Past-ebook/dp/B00IQO403K

Book: UFOs by Leslie Kean - NY Times Bestseller

I need to read him. Love the idea of spying using neutrinos! so cool. The idea of NOT being dumb and trying to reach out to aliens we know nothing about make sense too, I think Hawking also said that. Speaking of which, my wife's last bday present to me was a copy of the Golden Record that is on the Voyager craft, haha. I'll look out for this, thank you. -
Book: UFOs by Leslie Kean - NY Times Bestseller

What if they understand some sort of dimensional travel? ....or something along those lines? where space and time does not have the same effect, something outside our known physics? One of my favorite things is quantum entanglement, we don't know how that happens. "Spooky action at a distance', how does one particle instantly communicate with its entangled partner regardless of distance?....like any distance!...instantly. I sometimes wonder if the universe is kinda like that book American Gods in a way, that maybe there are back stage areas where travel and physics is completely different. -

Great book! got it a few years back.Very interesting topic that people are taking more and more seriously. Times are changing indeed my friend. I just found this web page yesterday. Groups a lot of info together nicely... http://nymag.com/selectall/2018/03/13-reasons-to-believe-aliens-are-real.html -
I was going to post this too. They use them in the military.

Me too, how could one look in the mirror knowing they cheat in a sport where you try to physically hurt your opponent? However in MMA, perhaps extreme weight cutting to get into a lighter division is worse than PED abuse but that's another discussion. I cringe when I see little kids looking up to WWE stars cause they don't know that those bodies are unattainable naturally. I have no problem with adults doing the stuff, to each their own. But be careful thinking that your size makes you a great fighter. I have been around a lot of trained people, martial arts was a big big part of my life for years. So anyway, another guy I knew back in training was as very decorated Muay Thai fighter. He was cocky, yet nice but did not back down from anyone. He would get into scraps downtown often with big guys. I felt so bad for some of them...they would be fronting and pushing ...then they would be sleeping. Skill over size any day....however, if you have both...then that's trouble. I'm jealous, I've always wanted to go to NZ.
-
Still fighting and still complaining about PED abuse. He brings up great arguments. He pointed out that Brock made like 2mil on his last fight and the fine was only a few hundred thousand I believe. Then Brock takes a suspension and just goes back to WWE until its over. I think Hunt still has has a court case pending against the ufc while he still fights under contract for them. Good reference btw with the topic at hand. Hunt is also a rotund man that is a real hell of a fighter...similar body to DC and that Fedor ('arguably' heavy weight GOAT) guy.

Jones is amazing, though I'm not with what you're implying.... You think juice would have made DC smarter? a better walker? Not sure what steroid you take for that. Yeah though, what an insane beast Cormier would be if he was on the juice. Then again maybe these clean elite competitors have more will? maybe they don't take the short cuts that the juice monkeys take in their daily life and it pays off in the long run? Anyway, the brilliant, suspended Jon Jones waits to fight again. All while making sure he doesn't leave another pregnant lady to cope after he hit and runs her in his car then scurries away with his nose candy. The guy makes great life choices, such a waste. DC is set to take on a true juice giant in the MMA cage.. Brock 'the erect chest tattoo' Lesnar. Brock is has only won 1 of his last 4 MMA fights but he gets the title shot cause the whole world likes to look at big muscles. That said, Brock was a great college wrestler despite the men in tights gig he's now famous for. So with his size etc... he could upset DC. This was at one time supposed to be JJone's big money fight. #smartpills

I hear what you're saying. So, I find it very cool that this rotund 5'11 potato is the current heavy weight and light heavy weight ufc champ. He also has 17 years of clean drug testing. Just to show that one can reach the top without junk. Who would would think, looking at him, that he can drop any man on the planet in the cage. Heck, if I didn't recognise him I would probably stand with him. That said, the only man to ever beat him ,Jones, is suspended for getting popped for the juice. But even without it, Jon Jones is a freak. It's very sad that he has tainted his fighting legacy. Side note- the ufc used to allow TRT. Since they stopped, half the guys that were using low testosterone as an excuse to use mostly withered up an blew away. Have a look at Vitor Belfort in his last fight getting kicked into retirement by Machida. ( Vitor is now juiced up again since retiring, haha, and looking to fight in less attentive circuits) Just was thinking about your permanent advantage statement. For some, it doesn't seem to be the case.

Hey , that was tainted supplement that Andy took to get his junk working again! ( really, that was his defence, tainted sex pills) During his NSAC hearing the council was literally making fun of him as they contemplated suspending him for years and making him lose millions. Heres a clip showing one of them having his phone set to play 'Lets talk about sex' when it rang ( during the review) this and a few weird things happened at that super professional hearing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iY2Lqq5nyo4 You're right, I agree 100% . Steroids when used correctly can give huge advantages. The term in the last few years in mma is "do they pass eye test."? which actually is more accurate than it sounds as most dummies even at that level are still going for the beach muscles. Competitors that use them with better guidance and strategy will look more natural such as Lance Armstrong or Jon Bones Jones for an mma reference. As you said, my buddy was likely uninformed and didn't use them in an proper manner. Still, it's completely cheating and I believe there could be serious long term affects, especially for those that use them to bulk up to unnatural sizes. And speaking of unnatural sizes and MMA, have you seen Rousimar Palhares lately? This cheating ( and not just steroids) disgraced former UFC'r used to compete at 170lbs. Now he looks like....he's the one on the left...holy arms.

I used to run a few night clubs and have been around a lot of big dudes. At one point we had a set of twins that stood 6'10, that is freakishly tall. These two were not juicers but most of the crews were. I had a buddy that I used to spar with, he was actually a very good kick boxer with some competition success. He juiced up and it put him into a weight class that he couldn't succeed in. It also lead to lot of shoulder injuries and affected other parts of his life( wonder if any of you remember that Bruins fan knocked out after the 2011 finals outside the Shark club, yep that was my buddy. No, he was not a rioter. He was working security and had his 'reasons'). . I haven't seen him for a few years, I hope he is doing well. I don't know why people do the juice. I'm bored at work and came across the below video. I could barely watch, it made me a bit sad but more so it was annoying to listen to. The big guy, that believes everyone admires him, can hardly talk without breathing heavy. He might as well be 200lbs overweight fat. Don't get me wrong. These men are strong as hell and very good at clearing rooms when hired as security. I just think they look like an old dated representation of what is a tough guy looks like. I have seen more than a few times big guys get lit up by smaller dudes that train boxing etc....those that have the speed and stamina balanced with their power. What was that line from Once Were Warriors? "too many weights, not enough speed work." Anyway, just thoughts . Keep up your honest hard work everyone.

Red Dead Redemption 2(Ps4/Xbox1) - October 26, 2018(Updated)
bishopshodan replied to Tre Mac's topic in Off-Topic General
^^^^ Me too. Been waiting for a game to force me to finally upgrade to a PS4 and this is it! The first one was great. So much fun with a great open world feel, I could kill hours just farting around. I did the zombie mod ( undead nightmare) too, once I finished the original story. -
you know what, Vancouver is looking a bit more clear too.... as I have a look out the office window....I'll pause my moaning for a bit
-
Hey! if it was my smoke, Alberta would be sold out of potato chips and everyone would be in a good mood. Wait....if the smoke is ours...then the trees are ours... Is the coast ours?...
-
Damn Vancouver...too much poop in the water...all the DT beaches are closed to swimming. Mcdonald beach in Richmond...no swimming due to recently sunken Tug. Feel bad for my dog, she loves to play in the water. The sky looks like doomsday and I think the smoke is giving me a head ache. Stupid fires, this is going to be every year now isn't it? I like the heat just fine, not a problem, but I would like to be able to go for a run or a swim without facing health issues.
-
yep, heat and smoke....no A.C, no sleep. Yesterday in the gym felt like I was working out in luke-warm molasses.

How about this one? A determined Sasquatch tracker goes to court. Although, nobody ever wonders if the giant shy hairy dude from the forest wants to be found... I'm sure he would just zip away in his inter-dimensional space ship before he's ever caught. Bigfoot lawsuit lacks 'an air of reality': B.C. lawyers Tracker and documentarian Todd Standing appeared in a New Westminster courtroom Tuesday asking Justice Kenneth Ball to order a trial where Standing says he’ll present evidence “way beyond a reasonable doubt” that sasquatch exist. https://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/bigfoot-lawsuit-lacks-an-air-of-reality-b-c-lawyers-1.4053581

My last line was lyrics from the millennial band, 21 Pilots. More in a reference of my trust issues , not really your personal intentions. I thought of that band as I read this sentence in the piece you posted "Younger and more educated respondents were more likely to say that the number of irregular border crossers was manageable" Gives me a bit of hope, unlike a lot of people I think the up coming generation is very bright. I have 10 nephews and 3 nieces, most in their teens. Only 2 of them have a FB accounts and all of them are suspect of what they read and hear. They're compassionate, they play soccer and they don't fear other cultures. I'm a dual citizen. I was born in England and have a lot of family still over there. We have had many a member serve in the military. Most recent, my cousin who did quite a few tours in Afghanistan and Iraq. He was apparently short listed for the SAS but decided he can no longer do what he had to do in the name of the country. Mostly the mess he endured in those two places, that and supporting US troops drove him nuts. I get my info from my friends and family regarding the political climate of England. For all my 44 years I have been aware that immigration has been hot topic there, but I admit I cant speak to the rest of Europe. That said, my wife is Iranian/German so she try's to keep me up to speed with what her family believes. Anyway, don't trust polls and I'm not a victim. I'm actually very happy and content...I even see my trust issues as healthy in this 'fake news' era. I appreciate all the effort you put in to posting on this site Rob, I do learn a lot from what you put up. Even though I often don't agree.

Do you work out in a very very small room with coat hangers, a shoe stand and a broom? Maybe you could...come out? in the long run it might reduce your annoyances.

"Recent reports from Bloomberg as well as from The Motley Fool have indicated that interest within the alcohol industry for additional cannabis-related tie-ups may only just be underway, with companies such as Aurora Cannabis Inc. (TSX:ACB) reportedly in talks with Molson Coors Brewing Co.
