Investing in the stock market - Discussion
bishopshodan replied to AV's Coin's topic in Off-Topic General
Totally agree, I'm in ACB for the long haul. Once recreational is legal, I can see the next big driver being legit edibles....more specifically THC beverages. I hear Labatt is developing, locally Bomber brewing is looking into it. I spoke with a friend that has already had some crappy THC infused wine in the states. I think a 6pk with each can containing about 15mg of THC, tasting like ginger ale ( or any pop etc)....no hang over, no smell....yep, once they get the food safe, red tape etc figured out... $$$$$$$$$. Massive, massive industry ahead. -
Eyes like an elephant? EDIT: ohh had to google it, you are talented

I'm good, thank you. Hope you are well. I want to sell next summer DT. I think I've got a good situation. 710 sqft, one bedroom +den, very solid cement building with great strata and contingency fund. The only draw back is that it's 70% owner occupied...makes for a great environment but reduces the appeal to investors. So the price tags are a bit lower even though its a beauty of a building. Recently a unit sold for $635... similar to mine but not as nice, and facing the alley. I'm hoping for $710 ( $1000 per sqft) next year...I think I might be sitting in that sweet spot for those who refuse to head towards the $1MIL mark for an apt. I'll cross my fingers, -

I heard on the tv last week that even though sales are down , condo prices are still up by 11%. @Frankie Sinatra Welcome back, do you think there is any chance at all that DT condo's will dip in the next year? ....asking for a friend -
Haha, yeah I've seen people do that on tv. Kinda doesn't seem right...I don't mind being a hamster on my treadmill but putting the dog on there seems a bit sad. Wern't you getting ready for a 1/2 marathon soon?
-
Thanks! I think I will make the investment this weekend. Looking forward to it. She already does a block or two with me as training when I get her out in the morn. Will get the harness and go for just a short few runs first to get her used to it.
-
Thanks Riff. I'm been a treadmill runner lately but with the nice weather and lovely dog, I have to get my butt outside. When are you doing your 1/2 ?
-
Hi, I've been running for years. Recently got a wonderful rescue dog, a Blue Heeler cross. She's great on her walking harness or collar and has just turned 2yrs old so she shouldn't face any hips issues. My question is...Do I need to purchase a running harness? Can you recommend one? or will I be ok with just leash to collar since she doesn't pull? the label on her walking harness says don't use for running due to potential rubbing.

with the political climate in the states we could start hearing about that Cascadia place too.
-
Radio and telly polls this morn had a 70% opposition to buying the darn thing. But these are Vancouver stations... If you support it getting built or not....should we tax payers have bought it? I don't know why this makes sense? 4.5bil to buy .... billions more to build.... sweet move JT , sweet move
-
why buy it? Why not just enforce fed power and force it?
-
Thanks for the info, makes sense. I'm pretty sure I lean more on the fast twitch side.

Weather Suzuki is a good dude or not, I believe his influence has helped the environment. I know his foundation helped my brother bring some light to a neighbour developer trying to sneak/build up some bird sanctuary land to place a resort. As for the dispute on the pipeline. I'm not for it now, I was on the fence a few weeks ago but I'm tired of the bullying and being told that the 'polls' are shifting. I can't remember the last poll I have done, so I conducted my own 'poll' about polls of my coworkers and not a single one of them can remember the last one they took either. Everyone is an individual and has opinions. For me I've made my money and didn't breed, so my feelings are not the same as others. It surprises me though that more people are not concerned about the future they leave for their kids. I read a couple Chuck Palahniuk books a few years ago (Doomed and Damned), fun reads with an obvious environmental under tone. It's burned in my head now, every time I here the word 'Oil' I think 'Dinosaur Juice'. It's just so weird to me that we drive around burning the fossilised remains of the ancients. As I've said, I don't really have a dog in this fight but I don't know why we aren't more stoked on progression and moving forward. Alternative energy, electric vehicles, figuring out room temperature super-conduction...all that jazz. At the end of the day, I guess it's a discussion about which type of 'Green' you care about more.

Did the SunRun in 56:35. Slower than I'd have liked but I gave it a solid effort. I know this cause had a little pukey session just after the finish line. I'm happy.
-
Thanks Riff, Sound advice, I'm doing exactly that....fluids, good food, early to bed etc.. This is my 5th year doing the SunRun. I started after I stopped competing in karate and noticed I was getting a bit soft ( the fear of getting whooped always kept me in good shape ). I sign up so that I have something to train for. I have always taken to sports quite well and had success, I'm quite proud of my martial arts days. That being said, running is one thing I've struggled with, I'm consistent, I try hard but I just find it challenging. I think its because there are no short cuts for success...I can't out smart my opponent or rely on a team mate for help. So, I stick at it. I hate not being really good at something. I 'm pretty sure there is a life lesson in there somewhere. Good for you for taking on a 1/2 marathon. That is awesome! good luck and please post a report after you complete it.
-
Gonna do the SunRun tomorrow. I have had a flu/head cold for a week and hoping the remaining snot is gone by the morning. I originally was aiming for 52mins or under but if I can get under 55mins, I will be stoked. That might still be a tall order but I'll try to get my mind right and power through this crappy feeling. Wish me luck.... anyone who has done a race right after a flu, any tips?

He's great, thank you for posting that clip.

Ready Player One 4/10 If you have read the book. Don't bother with the movie. I don't know how Spielberg could get it so wrong and I was stoked when he picked up the project. Of course its a dystopian future but the book is aimed at those who discovered cartridge video games, D&D and John Hughes movies while dreaming of the future from a basement filled with Mad magazines and WWF action figures, a time when it took two days to get a message to your best friend and the idea of cell phone was as realistic as a Tricorder. The movie seems to try to relate to all gamer generations and ends up just another fun joy ride through CGI but not much more.

ah,lame. oh well. I 'll be patient and find another way to watch it.

I will sell next year. For more than I could this year. I'm just not afraid. Van condos still have a serious inventory issue. They need to lift the wait time on development apps and even if the do...it will take years to catch up. -
Weird my best friend has been going on about these two books a lot. I'm gonna read the Peterson one soon. Seen a few Jocko clips on you tube. I like his approach, reminds me of martial arts training. You can learn from everything and you are responsible for all that happens in your life, no victim type of self talk ....as its titled 'extreme ownership'.

Vancouver housing market expected to continue boom into 2018 https://www.bnn.ca/real-estate/video/vancouver-housing-market-expected-to-continue-boom-into-2018~852539 I don't think it is quite time to sell if you own a condo in Vancouver. -
MAD BLOOD STIRRING - Daemon Fairless 'The inner lives of violent men' I'm surprised how much I'm enjoying this book. It's actually making me question some of my past actions and internal dialogue. Recommend for everyone, not just men.
