  1. Who needs an empty cage for the 5th of the night? Not these kids!
  2. Feel bad for any fans who were putting Canucks first to watch the fight later\ GDT should be a spoiler free zone, no?
  3. Good to know Thought I killed mine by celebrating too hard
  4. You guys should spend less time crying about weak calls and conspiracy nonsense and more time cheering for a big kills lol
  5. I think Hughes is actually the superior player Considering EP's alien-like amazingness, that's saying something
  6. Oh yeah baby! Big bad dog starts the ventilation of Hasbeenington
  7. My pleasure man! I scream and yell at various players for random mistakes and stuff too but typically, without fail, they redeem themselves on the next shift and I find myself begging their forgiveness and claiming my lack of worthiness haha (everyone see that goal LE saved early in the game last night? I'm one of his worst critics at times but man he can be in the right spot at the right time enough times to deserve at least half of what he earns haha) For those of us who bleed Canuck colours, we're all in this together and hoping for the same outcome even if we prefer a variety of ways of getting there. Let's do this DROP THE &^@#ING PUCK!!!!!!
  8. Some great responses. Helps me clarify my original question. How can a coach or team best strategize to capitalize on the advantage(s) afforded by last change?
  9. Fair enough but how much of that is last change and how much is all the other stuff like fans, familiar ice, facilities etc?
  10. I find it damn near impossible to take my eyes off the TV long enough to post here, never mind reading all the other posts, as the game is taking place. Don't know how some of you do it. There's so much going on every second on the ice that I'm afraid I'll miss something if I look away. So I read back and try to catch up a bit during commercials or intermissions but many of those breaks are required for other things. So I ended up with a slow work day yesterday and read pretty much the entire GDT from game 5 and it was quite the roller coaster read. There seem to be a good batch of posters whose faith in the team crumbles at the first sign of adversity, resulting in lots of very disheartening posts (thankfully, the players aren't reading along haha), a nice collection of diehards (such as myself) who never give up hope until all really is all said and done, and then a $&!# ton of folk who clearly retired from previous careers as NHL players, coaches or execs cuz they're masters of dissecting every move made by every player on both sides as well as the coaches and the commentators. I heard on 1040 or 650 yesterday that TG went through something like 21 different line combinations over the course of the night. I wonder if even one of those 21 made everyone on CDC happy at the same time. I'm envious of those who really know the game so well and see things that I miss entirely. I've been a fan since '81 when most games were only available on radio but still watch every game like some awestruck beginner, only catching about half of what happens and likely caught following the puck more than a rookie D. I really need to learn to pay more attention to everything going on everywhere else on the ice. No wonder I'm still caught off guard when a player gets loose all alone for a breakaway. Super stoked for tonight's game. I work Saturdays and am about to begin a full week off. Might just have to book off tomorrow and start the festivities a day early. Would be a blast to hang out with you all in a pub surrounded by monster big screens for these playoffs. Another year perhaps. Will try to chime in more tonight but, if I'm not able to, let me just say this... Have faith everybody! The boys know what they have to do to get the job done and TG is just now beginning to see what he's capable of as a coach in big league games that really matter. Have a blast! Coach hard and cheer harder We GOT this!! Go Canucks GO!!!!
  11. Just curious to hear from the more knowledgeable hockey fans here as to why this has played out exactly the opposite as one might expect in this series and anything we could do tonight that we didn't do in games 3 and 4 to take advantage of this. I understand, of course, that it's not all it's cracked up to be or the be all end all of determining who wins a game, but just find it odd that the 'home' team has lost every game of the series thus far. If I were a press member in the bubble, I'd like point this anomaly out to TG and ask him for his take on it and what he or any coach might do differently to take advantage of last change in a game like tonight's game 6 in order to actually capitalize on it and see it translate into a significant advantage on the ice and the scoresheet.
  12. Get so tired of seeing Jake standing still in the offensive zone while everyone else is buzzing. Coach needs to tell him to shadow EP and/or Motte next practice just to get a feel for what it means to work for your chances and ice time
