  1. Thiessen saved 32/33 as Dubuque lost 2-0 to Cedar Rapids (2nd GA was EN). In his 28 appearances this season, he’s 10-12-3-3 with a 0.895 Sv% and a 2.89 GAA.
  2. It is strange. I thought Gaud only rested on the 7th day. Yeah, Birnell confirms, day-to-day with illness:
  3. EDIT: tweet was deleted for the highlight I posted earlier. Here’s the game highlights:
  4. Lockwood extends his goal streak to 5 games:
  5. Actually been thinking a lot about a future Rathbone-Woo pairing. Could be deadly together.
  6. Yeah, Hwang is an exciting prospect. If he adjusts well to MLS, he should be a very good player for VWFC. And could end up sold to a European side in a few years for a significant profit. MDS almost certainly isn’t done. Still need to add two strikers, with Blondell leaving and the Kolbeinn transfer rumour not panning out. At least one of the two new strikers will hopefully end up being a significant acquisition. Definitely some exciting names in the rumour mill (although there’s likely some pipe dream factor to them), with Sardar Azmoun and Vincent Janssen being two high profile strikers recently linked to VWFC. Juan Córdova (fullback) also rumoured to be heading to Vancouver, with Blondell joining Huachipato (Córdova’s club team in Chile), and the Blondell move possibly serving as a bit of a trading chip to help in acquiring Córdova.
  7. ^^ Brassard definitely has a knack for getting his shots through. You can see him make a little adjustment there so he can split the high forward and the defenseman, creating a lane for a shot and rebound. Finished with the one assist and 5 SOG. Now up to 37 points (10G 27A) in 43 games.
  8. Hwang confirmed! https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/whitecaps-fc-transfer-hwang-in-beom
  9. I wouldn’t read too much into it. 18yo kid in a new country. Not surprising he might have been a little withdrawn when it came to fans. That said, I know there were people who got autographs from Olli at that camp, and they only had positive things to say about his fan interactions. So probably just caught him at a bad time when he wasn’t feeling up to meeting fans, or he was just busy and needed to get somewhere.
  10. Boo! National broadcast of the Ottawa 67’s game (starting soon on Sportsnet) and they just announced DiPietro will be the backup today and Andree getting the start.
  11. 4pm tonight (PST) on TSN2 (TV) and TSN.ca/TSN Go: Northeastern vs. Providence.
  12. 1 assist, +2, 8 SOG for Matty tonight. Now has 36 points (10G 26A) through 42 games this season.
  13. Madden earns #1 spot on USCHO plays of the week: EDIT: also named Hockey East’s rookie of the week
  14. Heard the same. But seemed so unlikely. I mean, I get how the Canucks would want him here, but did they really expect Q to just bail on his Michigan teammates mid-season?
  15. Draft scouting said Ryan Callahan was a comparable. From a Canucks perspective, names like Kesler and Higgins have been throw around. And he’s stepped in at NU as Gaudette’s replacement (and filled those very big shoes quite admirably). Basically he’s a really talented kid with a very complete game, loads of intangibles, and a ton of upside. He’s a true #1C at the college level, capable of playing in all situations, and logging heavy minutes. His best assets are his speed, his ability to handle the puck at speed, his drive and motor, grit and intensity, a refined defensive game, and some really good vision and offensive instincts. I know that ends up sounding like he’s just good at everything, but in a way, that’s exactly what he is. Just really solid all around, with the only weakness being his size (he’s only 5’11” and 150 lbs). But he’s going to fill out and get a lot stronger. I think he projects as a bottom-9 forward, likely a #3C at the NHL level, but without a cap on his ultimate upside. He’s blown past even the most optimistic expectations for his freshman year in the NCAA. Right now, he’s putting up Johnny Gaudreau level numbers in his rookie season in college. So it’ll be up to Madden to show us what his ceiling actually is.
  16. Was just thinking, had Ty Madden been picked #18 overall instead of #68 overall, how would we rate his progress this season? Meeting expectations? Exceeding expectations? Certainly not below expectations. Kid is performing like a first round pick this year. Like a very good first round pick, in fact. Between his college season and the WJC, he’s been one of the more impressive American born players from the 2018 draft class (and that includes several of the kids that were actually picked in the first round).
  17. Not sure. I can’t find an official record book, but looking at historical stats, I’d imagine that as far as Northeastern team records go, it’s Kevin Heffernan’s 43 points as a freshman in 1984-85.
  18. Yup, this happened: And then this happened:
  19. It must, because I didn’t get a notification. It’s like the post was completely scrubbed out of existence. Weird.
  20. Weird, I just made a post five minutes ago joking about whether Tryamkin’s parents had also bought a BBQ. And the post seems to have disappeared. Like I posted, it went through, and I was looking at my post on the top of this page. Then, I come back to the page and it’s not here. Does CDC have a search and destroy bot that erases posts with bad jokes and silly references? Just wondering, because those posts make up a considerable portion of my content.
  21. Actually the game is on TSN (TSN Go) in the bonus section.
  22. Game should be on here (starts in around an hour): https://portal.stretchinternet.com/northeastern/portal.htm?eventId=453987&streamType=video
