Probably Lind’s injury is something minor, structurally-speaking anyway, but nonetheless serious enough to keep him out of the lineup for over a month and counting, and categorized as “week to week” for that time.

I think the plan is to develop Dahlén to the point that when he finally gets his call-up, he never gets sent back down again. I have little doubt that he could fill an injury replacement slot in the NHL. But he does have a few thing to work on, before he’s truly NHL ready. Dahlén himself has admitted that he was humbled by his first taste of North American pro hockey, and just wasn’t ready. I think he’s comfortable earning his way and fine tuning his game. And when he does get the call, he’s going to be a better player for all the work and development time he’s putting in with the Comets. Dahlén should join the Canucks when he’s ready to start what should be a long and successful NHL career, and not just because people would like to see best buds Petey and “Joonatun” sharing the ice as soon as possible.

Probably, although less so than Archie. Boucher, while ~3.5 years younger than Arch, has a much more proven track record in the NHL and has accumulated more games played. And Biega has certainly proven himself to be a pretty solid #8D in the NHL. He’s comfortable in the spare role and always seems to give it his all when he comes into the lineup. Can’t really ask more of your spare players. Obviously, in the AHL, he’s a cornerstone defender and captain material, while in the NHL, he really shouldn’t play unless there are injuries. I’d say Biega and Boucher are at least guys that you could see other NHL teams employing as depth players, while Archie, much as I like him, hasn’t really proven that he’s worth more than an occasional cup of coffee in the bigs, before his play kinda peters out and deserves to be demoted again. EDIT: Archibald is a great AHL guy though, and I’m sure the Comets love getting him back. I believe he’s known as “The Mayor” down in Utica.

I think all the moving around the Czech leagues, and the lineups of those teams, actually helped prepare him. Jašek arrived in Utica a veteran of around 200 men’s pro games, split between 5 different clubs, and three tiers, counting regular season, playoffs, and tournaments. And he was used in just about every role you can think of. So while people think of Europeans having to make the biggest adjustment as AHL rookies, I think he actually had a leg up on some of the junior and college kids in North America. He also came over trying to win a contract, versus having one guaranteed by his draft position, and now that he’s here, he definitely doesn’t want to go back. So Jašek has a lot of motivation. He’s been through those dark days with Trinec, where making a minor mistake got him benched. And even when he played extremely well, he still might get limited to 5 minutes of ice the next game he played, or even demoted. So he definitely didn’t come in with any sense of entitlement and believing the he should just be handed a role. He’s used to having to fight for everything he gets. So whatever role he’s been handed in Utica, he’s thrown himself in 100%, and tried to make the most of it. Whether that’s 4th line or 1st line, and playing wing or centre. I’m sure the Utica coaches love him because they know that he’s going to work hard every night, and that they’ll get his best effort, regardless of the role and opportunity. I don’t think the same can always be said of some of our other prospects. Not that any of them are lazy or sulking, but just that they’re used to being top dogs as amateurs, so making that step up to pro, and adjusting from playing against boys to against men, can be quite humbling and a real learning experience. For better or worse, there’s no question that Jašek experiences in the Czech leagues definitely were very humbling at times, especially his first couple pro seasons in Trinec. So I’m sure he’s grateful he’s now getting this chance and finally allowed to prove that he belongs at this level, playing in North America in a league just below the NHL (and possibly even getting his shot at the big league one day). I’m really happy he’s having success. The kid deserves it, after everything he’s been through, and the long road that he’s traveled getting here. Obviously, I’ve been tracking him for some time, and I had a lot of belief in his abilities. I just wasn’t sure he’d ever get his chance. And for a while there, I thought his Czech team might ruin him. So it’s really nice to see things coming together for Jašek and him finally getting rewarded for his patience and determination.

Live stats and box score broken tonight, but Harvard won 4-1. Don’t think Rathbone managed to pick up any points, but I can’t check the game sheet because all the stats are currently down.- 3,880 replies

DiPietro picked up his 9th win tonight, saving 26/29, and keeping Windsor close early, before they ran away with 4 goal second period en route to a 6-3 victory. DiPietro is now 9-6-0-1 on the season, with a 0.923 Sv% and a 2.272 GAA.

Shots! Shots! Shots! Lockwood with 13 shot attempts and 9 shots on goal. In the two games against Wisconsin this weekend, he attempted 24 shots, with 17 shots on goal, but failed to score.

Yeah, it’s weird. Apparently the game is officially scored a tie if teams remains deadlocked and then no one scores during the first OT. Then, they play a 2nd OT at 3v3, with the winner gaining an extra point in the standings. But for some reason, the 3v3 scoring doesn’t count in the individual player stats. Anyway, none of this changes the fact that Hughes had two assists. He just doesn’t get full official credit for the second one. He’s back at it tonight, for game two of the weekender versus Wisconsin. Audio broadcast is here: https://mgoblue.com/watch/?Live=249&type=Archive Video is paid/subscription on BTN (Big Ten Network). Wisconsin currently leading 1-0. Michigan with lots of possession, lots of shot attempts, and nothing to show for it yet. They had 4 chances on the PP, and couldn’t score. Second period just getting underway.

Big game on an big stage tonight as Rathbone and Harvard take on #15 ranked Cornell at Madison Square Garden. Rathbone paired with Fox as the starting pairing on the ice for the opening faceoff at MSG. Game is on ESPN+ and PPV via Strech Internet. The free streams that I can find all seem to be broken, so won’t bother linking any of them (I’ll update if I find a working one).- 3,880 replies

So another loss for Avto, and Tryamkin still appears to be out of the lineup with a mysterious ailment. Not sure what happened to the big guy, but he hasn’t played in a while, and he’s missed more games lately than just the normal D rotation. In his absence, Avto have been losing, and CSKA has now overtaken them for first place in the KHL. Coincidence?

Getting the opportunities now too, with all the injuries and call-ups. He’s been a fixture lately in the top-six and on the power play. Many of the early season games, he was playing bottom-six, with lower minutes, less O-zone time, and with less (offensively) talented linemates, so it was a bit tougher to put up the points. But from all accounts, he’s been solid in whatever role he’s been given, and has played well and contributed all season.

Not as many as I’d like to, especially this year (watched more last year). The games tend to run right through my kids’ play and supper time (twin 6 year olds) and then end just before it’s bath time. So I generally need my wife to be liking me a lot that day, if I get to spend 3 hours on my own watching a college hockey game while she handles the kids. I usually keep track on my phone and sometimes have the game going on a laptop that I glance at occasionally, but I’m usually pretty distracted and miss a fair amount.

Hughes assist on the 2OT goal (at 3v3):
-
Hughes with 2 assists tonight and 5 shot attempts. That should take him to 15 points (3G 12A) in 12 games this season.
-
Lockwood with 11 shot attempts and 8 shots on goal in tonight’s game vs Wisconsin. Couldn’t find the back of the net himself, but gets an assist on the winning goal at 3v3 during OT2. Game will officially be a tie but Michigan gets an extra point.
-
One power play assist tonight for Brassard. He’s now up to 15 points (6G 9A) in 20 GP.
-
2 assists tonight. Now up to 9 points (5G 4A) in 16 GP on the season.

Game day. Broadcast on BTN (paid). Audio and stats links in tweet. 4:30 Vancouver time start

I don’t blame the media. The media are the same guys providing us with the interviews and articles that, as you note, portray Dahlén with “a positive outlook” and “working hard to improve every game.” Nope, I blame the fans. And maybe the call-in radio shows, but their content is driven by the fans anyway. Same goes for Twitter. But at far as the more legitimate media, like the ones with actual articles and interviews, they’ve generally been pretty good with their reporting on Dahlén.

Uh oh. Possible mysterious health issues. Can’t wait for the speculation and various posters with “insider” info. Should be fun.

2019 NHL Entry Draft in Vancouver, BC

Lol, that’s some advanced scouting! What is he, a 2022 eligible? Good Canadian sounding name though. I think his dad is the skills coach for Pelicans, and that’s why he’s over in Finland.
