Lind’s goal also turned out to be the game winner. Not bad for his first game back after mono.

No highlights yet but from the descriptions on GoNU, it sounds like Gaudette’s goals were both gif-worthy (ahem... paging Ryan Biech): FIRST GOAL (1-0 Northeastern) – FIRST PERIOD – Adam Gaudette – 17:47Northeastern drew first blood late in the first period on Gaudette's ninth of the season during a Husky four-on-three power play. After the Warriors were whistled for tripping, NU wasted no time in converting on the man advantage as Cockerill dished to Dylan Sikura along the halfwall. Sikura then fired it across the zone to a waiting Gaudette at the left face-off dot for a one-timed laser top shelf for the score. THIRD GOAL (2-1 Northeastern) – SECOND PERIOD – Adam Gaudette – 12:46Northeastern retook the lead with 7:14 to go in the middle frame when Gaudette buried his second of the game. As the Huskies regrouped in the neutral zone, Ryan Sheafed Gaudette at center ice and the junior center did the rest, flying down the left side before wiring a shot through the legs of a defenseman and over the blocker of Vogler. http://www.gonu.com/news/2017/12/2/mens-ice-hockey-gaudette-and-primeau-lead-no-12-11-nu-to-sweep-of-merrimack-3-1.aspx

Yeah, nearly five and a half shots on goal per game for the entire season. And his shot volume has been just insane since returning from injury (around 10 SOG a game many nights).
-
Finished with 13 SOG (to go with his 2G 1A) and was named 2nd star in the 6-5 SO loss.

Lockwood apparently had a goal tonight in exhibition action against the USA U18s. But the highlight getting the most play tonight is his hit:

That Cape Cod Whalers U18 Team looks pretty stacked. Made up of some of the best players from the top area prep schools (Thayer Academy, Noble & Greenough, and Dexter Southfield). And they play in a very competitive league: http://capecodwhalers.com/page.php?page_id=91571- 3,880 replies

So basically puckluck and the game could have just as easily finished in a 3-2 victory with Elias getting a couple points? Sounds about right. I was just wondering because at this point, the games he doesn’t score in might actually be the most informative. His scoring showcases elite talent that will undoubtedly translate to the highest levels. Cut and paste most of his highlights into an NHL game, and those pucks are still going into the net. So it’s becoming a question of how easily he can be controlled and contained, in terms of what kind of impact he’ll eventually have in the NHL. Which is is why I was wondering whether or not Brynäs played a great shutdown game today against Elias and his mates. But it sounds like that wasn’t what happened today and it was just the proverbial “game of inches” that kept him off the scoresheet. -

Anybody watch the game today? Unfortunately, I missed this one. Elias (and his line) were held off the scoresheet in a 2-1 loss to Brynäs. Just curious if they were shut down or just unlucky? Looks like they generated some chances from the stats. -

He also played his first high school season game Nov. 29 for Dexter Southfield, in which he scored a goal. That DXSF Boys Varsity feed actually gives game updates and posts highlights. Last game they even linked to a stream (although it's now payblocked but might have been free when the game was live). So it appears it’s actually going to be possible to follow him fairly closely this season, if anyone is so inclined.- 3,880 replies

The Man Child (AKA “Dad”) already has a goal and an assist tonight with half a game still left to play.

Direct link to stream: https://portal.stretchinternet.com/northeastern/portal.htm?eventId=370070&streamType=video Already 2-0 Northeastern, just past the midway point of the first period. No points yet for Gaudette.

Makes sense. Keep the kids away from the dangers of marijuana smoke by raising them in a country with one of the highest cigarette smoking rates in the entire world.

Gaudette playing later today (7pm EST). Northeastern vs. Merrimack. Should be a stream available closer to gametime from GoNUxstream: https://portal.stretchinternet.com/northeastern/#livp

I like how he looks pass, delays while the defender comes into frame, and then shoots just before the defender can deflect the shot (making it tougher for the goalie to get a read off his release). He probably beats that goalie clean even if he doesn’t do all the other stuff, given the quality of the shot he gets off (a rocket that goes post and in). But those little things he’s doing are what’s going to help his scoring translate at higher levels.

Thanks for this. Glad to hear Olli played well in the loss. I’m a little surprised that he and Heikkinen weren’t clicking, as they’ve been a pretty good partnership in several games together earlier this season. Maybe just a little rust or an off night? I’d expect they’ll be together again next game, especially if Eronen is injured (did you happen to notice him getting hurt?).

Better minutes for Jašek today as he slots in as the third line LW for Liberec. There’s been a fair amount of roster movement for Bílí Tygři in recent weeks, with some players moving up from WSM Liga, and a couple significant lineup additions (most notably Marek Kvapil coming over from the KHL). So while I’d definitely prefer seeing Jašek as a fixture in the top-six, it’s still a good sign that, despite the roster additons, he’s still playing an important role and getting decent minutes (unlike recent NHL pick Lakatoš who just got demoted to WSM Liga). I suspect that Jašek is a little similar to Gaunce in that his coaches still appreciate his effort and overall game, even when the puck isn’t going in for him (as has been the case of late). Finished with 10:43 TOI, no points, even, 1/2 faceoffs. Remains at 9 points (3G 6A) in 25 Extraliga games played.

Today’s showdown between Juolevi and Heiskanen ended with both players failing to register a point (and HIFK winning 2-1 over TPS). They remain tied at 13 points through 17 GP. Olli had 3 shots through 18:55 TOI and finished a -1. Looks like he started the game with Eronen but was later paired with Heikkinen. Eronen only played around 6 minutes (maybe injured?—can’t tell yet and the crappy Finnish translations on Twitter don’t help much, other than a few laughs when Elmeri Eronen gets translated as “Elmer Fudd Eronen”—honestly I’m not even joking). I couldn’t watch this one so can’t really say how well he played. But if he was back playing with Heikkinen this game, he probably was passing the puck pretty well as Ilkka had an insane 12 SOG, so somebody was definitely teeing it up for him.
-
Too bad about Tallinder. I was hoping he and Juolevi would keep playing together. Hopefully they pair up again when he’s back. But Juolevi-Eronen should be fine. They were paired together for some of Olli’s first games this season, so it’s not a raw partnership, and they looked good (albeit in more limited minutes). And Eronen is pretty underrated as a player. Obviously he’s small but he’s pretty smooth moving the puck and has a good two-way, all-around game. I can remember him getting some buzz as a 16/17 year old for a potential NHL draft pick, just never happened (likely due to the size concerns at 5’9 and 175).
-
Thanks. I figured eventually a Finnish speaker would chime in and let us know. Hopefully it’s just the one game that Palmu sits and he’ll be back in the lineup for today’s game (starts in 8 hours or so). Incidentally, today’s game will be TPS vs. HIFK. So Juolevi vs. Heiskanen. Definitely adds another level of interest.

Vax is short for vaccination. Jo is a Scottish term for sweetheart. I think Vaxjo is when a guy has a crush on the public health nurse and goes in for 20 flu shots before he gets up the courage to ask her out. -
Thanks for the report. Matches up well with what I’ve been seeing while streaming the games this season. But obviously you see more when attending live, especially when trying to watch a single player versus a video frame of the overall play.

I think there’s something to this line of thought. I don’t doubt that Tryamkin’s NHL experience has made him a better player. I’m sure he’d admit that he learned a tonne from the coaches and other players. And I also think his time with “the program” has likely improved his diet and exercise habits. He apparently showed up for this season at 250 lbs (versus 265 last year) and in probably the best shape of his life. That doesn’t seem to be an accident.
-
Not directly, at least by name (that I can recall anyway). And I’m not sure he’s ever been asked to make a specific comment on his experiences with Lidster. Hard to say whether or not that relationship was a sour one in itself, or if it was more of a top down thing, and that Lidster and Tryamkin would actually worked well together had they been getting directives from another head coach. I imagine we’ll never know for sure.
