  1. The only reason he got in was Canucks fans voted him in. I don’t think it’s fair that he would still get to go. Send whoever had the next most votes.
  2. Injuries starting with the Isles already. Older teams don’t tend to get better. They weren’t one piece away.
  3. New Jersey isn’t taking a step back. That team will be a force for many years. Any team could lose their number 1 goalie. Is that likely? Probably not. Same thing could be said about Sorokin. He goes down and the Isles have no chance of winning.
  4. Still not enough scoring and an ageing core that will have injuries. They’ve been trending downwards for awhile. They’re not gonna magically turn into a contender.
  5. Lol. Easily? Good luck with the division they’re in. That division isn’t getting any easier either.
  6. If there’s a trade to be made you make it. You can’t be worried about stuff like this. What if he somehow got injured at the all star game? Or Lou did an about face and changed his mind?
  7. They’ll have injuries to deal with next season too. Most of their players are past their prime and they don’t have any help coming. Could easily be a top 10 pick next year.
  8. It would be one thing if they were top 2 in their division and looking like legit contenders. They’re not even in a playoff spot. Like when we gave up Madden and a 2nd for Toffoli I was mad. I couldn’t imagine trading a prospect like Podkolzin and our 1st for an outside shot at making it.
  9. Doubt he would trade him. This was an all in move for playoffs. As long as they’re in the hunt they won’t trade him. The wheels would have to really fall off for them.
  10. Better than a lot of teams firsts. Apparently people didn’t think Ottawa would finish bottom 5 in the Duchene trade (including Ottawa) Sure the odds are against that happening, but of all the teams that were willing to give up a 1st, they’d be the team I could see dropping in standings next season.
  11. A couple years ago they were a couple years younger. Boston, New York, and New Jersey have all gotten better since then. Even if they squeak in they’re not going anywhere. Their window closed already they just haven’t realized it.
  12. The point remains the same, they’re not a team that’s close. They’re like us in a lot of ways they just haven’t realized they’re not one piece away.
  13. Started thinking about this trade from an Islanders fan perspective, and I’m not sure I’d be thrilled if I were a fan. Looking at where they are in the standings, the average age of their team, and their prospect pool and this a very all or nothing trade. Sure Bo could be the missing piece. They could make the playoffs and go on a run and then they’re not worried about it. On the flip side, they miss the playoffs, Bo walks, and they have to give us their 2024 pick unprotected with a team that could very well be worse. Very big risk for them. Could you imagine us trading Podkolzin and a top 12 protected pick at last years deadline in order to go for it?
  14. I just don’t see it. They’re more than one player away from being a playoff team. That division is just too tough.
  15. I imagine they don’t want to risk there being no more chairs when the music stops. I like them getting ahead of it as there are a lot of forwards available this deadline and no guarantee the offers would have gotten better. Not to mention the earlier we start really tanking the better. Ill be interested to see how this value compares to what some of the other high profile players go for. Like if O’Reilly goes for more then fans can get mad.
  16. A tough division and a team that just can’t score. A lot of pressure on Bo to fix their scoring.
  17. Which is why every fan should be rooting against the Isles now. That pick sliding into 2024 is the best thing that could happen. The Isles are a Sorokin injury away from being a bottom 5 team. A move like that is how the Avs got Byram.
  18. Yep that would be a disaster for them. They’re taking a real risk here. Like it’s all or nothing for playoffs for them. If they miss why would Bo want to re-sign there? All of a sudden they lose Bo, their best prospect, and their 2024 pick which could be even better than this years…
  19. Don’t see why Bo would re-sign there. He can get just as much or more with actual contenders. They’re still a flawed team. I don’t see Bo as a player that makes them a non fringe playoff team.
  20. I don’t see that as a team that is getting better. They have no cap space, no good prospects, and an aging core. I don’t even see how they plan on re-signing Bo. They’d be picking 14 if the draft was today. I could easily see them having a lotto pick next year.
  21. The first is what made the Duchene trade so great. Of all the teams that would likely be bad next season it would be the Isles. Just need them to fall into the bottom 12 now.
