[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks
DeNiro replied to HOFsedins's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I don’t know what they’re willing to pay Larkin or not, it’s all speculation. Horvat has considerably more goals than Larkin and probably plays a style that Yzerman likes more. Who knows? Maybe Larkin just wants to move on and Detroit knows it. Maybe signing Bo is their way to convince him to stay? Theres lots of reasons they could be interested in Bo. -

That’s the thing I think some people are missing. This is not the only time we can “cash in” on him. If in two years this team still hasn’t made progress they can trade him to a contender. His value should be the same if not higher since he’ll have had two more seasons to prove he’s legit. -

Every player says they want to win until they’re handed a big bag of money. He could convince himself they’ll be a contender soon if they pay him 9 mil a season. Remember how Ehrhoff said Buffalo gave him the best chance to “win”? Trading Rasmussen, Zadina, and Wallinder would not cripple their prospect pool. -

Not necessarily. Some teams have depth on D but no depth a center. They can afford to trade young D men to fill holes at center. There’s also young forwards on teams that are playing lower in the lineup because the team is so deep. Those are the players we’ll look to acquire. -

What I want and what’s happening are two different things. If you want to ignore reality that’s your choice. I’m just telling you what they clearly stated. -

People are assuming we could have gotten a really good pick for him. No guarantees there. And as we saw last summer top 4 D’s are very hard to come by, especially right handed ones. So just because we have an extra pick doesn’t mean we could acquire one. Let’s not forget Lundqvist went for a 1st round pick. Almost 15 million of those contracts will likely be gone by the summer through buyout or trade. -

Oh I agree. I doubt Allvin does considering who he drafted with his first round pick. -

Horvat would be Larkins replacement. Detroit is close to his home, and they might be the team that was rumoured to be willing to pay him 9 mil. He gets his money, gets to be close to home, and gets to play for Yzerman on a team thats trajectory is probably better than ours right now. -

The two roster players would not be placeholders. They would be players who are around 25 that they can develop along with the core. -

Too many question marks in that Boston trade. And it’s already been reported they want two roster players and a top prospect. I don’t see any way that Carlo wouldn’t be a piece coming back concussions or not. Carlo, Frederic, and Lysell would be my guess. -

You don’t build a roster full of 25 and under players unless you’re rebuilding. We are not. -

Carlo and Lysell is the obvious trade with Boston. Rasmussen is a good piece if he comes with a top prospect like Wallinder. Throw in Zadina as a project. -

What part of they don’t want picks are people not hearing? They want two roster players and a top prospect for Bo. So fill in two spots in the top 9 and a spot on the right side D. How do you think trading Kuzmenko would have fixed this problem? Getting picks and prospects would not improve the roster if at all. Plus we’re not rebuilding I’m not sure why fans keep denying this… Also you’re assuming that they don’t use the 20 million they unloaded?- 888 replies

Yes, Rick. They invited Bo’s agent to the city but then left him hanging once they signed Kuz. Media just loves to connect dots that aren’t there. They’ve been talking about this extension for weeks. This didn’t just come up suddenly. Rick really has gone downhill. Trying too hard to be an insider. He needs to just stick to facts. -

Yep and he has a chance to prove that he can put up these numbers consistently. Right now he’s too much of an unknown to GMs. No one was gonna part with a 1st for him no matter how much Canucks fans fantasized. -

Also just a bunch of lemmings. They go whichever way the wind blows, and right now it’s popular to dump on management. I wish we had more intelligent, original, and rational media in this town. Seems like all of them are just mouthpieces for the negative angry fanbase. -

I mean I can see why he’s relevant. He often sounds like half the fan base here. Its why there will always be a spot for someone like him. All some people wanna do is b&tch and complain about the team. He feeds into that. -

And what plan did you hear them talk about? Pretty sure it didn’t involve trading 26 year old PPG players… -

That’s where the 2 year term equals low risk. Also keeps him hungry for that big contract. -

And I assume he knows exactly what teams were offering? A 2nd round pick really gonna move the needle? I know some people want a complete rebuild but it ain’t happening. We need top 6 players for next season. -

Also nice to know one of the 50 managers is working. Say what you want about whether certain deals should have been signed, Castonguay has been getting fair value for players. -

Miller retired? Garland vanished? Also Mikayev has to play down the lineup. If he’s a first liner that’s weak depth. If we’re trading Bo we need a young top 6 potential player coming back. That will fill in one of those slots. -

What is he implying that they’re avoiding him? Maybe they have a meeting set for today? Maybe he got here early to meet with Bo and talk things over? Enjoy the city? I hate how the media in this town tries to spin everything into controversy even when there is none. -
