  1. Must be exhausting chasing the game all the time. No wonder our guys are burnt out halfway through the season.
  2. Of course it hasn’t changed, it’s the same players out there. Fans didn’t think a coaching change would fix everything in game 2 did they?
  3. *Barely a better deal I think they’d rather not piss off an agent for a measly 400k in savings and more bad press.
  4. Teams still ask for a premium. They know we’re desperate. Why would they go out to their way to do us a favour? So yes it will cost us a pick we can’t afford to trade.
  5. You’ll have to pay a premium to dump him as the cap is barely rising and teams will be looking to take advantage. We can’t afford to pay 2nd round picks for cap dumps again. Ain’t happening. Sure you could waive him, but I feel like the team has too much respect for him to bury him in the minors. That’s a bad look. You buy him out so he can sign on with another team. That’s the right way to do it. The penalty the following season is like 300k it doesn’t matter. That’s not keeping you from signing anyone.
  6. And the alternative is to keep playing a horrible D man at the expense of developing younger better defensemen?
  7. Who cares how tall he is if he sucks? At 21 he needs to be putting up more points than that in the AHL. That’s a major project player, not what we’re looking for. JR said he wants to target players who underperformed on their ELC’s. Guys that may have been hyped and need a change of scenery. Beecher is on year one of his ELC and not looking anywhere close to an NHLer.
  8. Arizona will never be good because they don’t have the money to spend. Not to mention they keep making poor picks like Strome, Domi, Perlini, Soderstrom, and Hayton. You can’t get good with drafting like that. As for Edmonton they had every opportunity to be good but failure to sign and draft the right D men was their downfall. Instead they massively overpaid Nurse, signed Barrie, and traded for Keith. Drafted one dimensional D men like Bouchard and Broberg. Doesn’t matter if you land a generational talent when your GM is making moves like those.
  9. Either way we’ve got wingers. Its crucial we get a young center and RHD back. We’re not gonna get a better opportunity to get those pieces through trade than this.
  10. Not sold on Lysell as a top prospect. The deals only a good deal if the prospect turns into a player. Not convinced at this point.
  11. I was like is it April 1st already?? Then I saw it was the Beaverton. The sad thing is I wouldn’t put it past this ownership to pull a PR stunt like that to deflect attention.
  12. Depends what else is offered. If that’s the best deal on the table they have no choice. Its not like with Miller where he wasn’t a pending UFA. You don’t move him at the deadline and he walks for nothing. That’s not an option.
  13. Boeser is on pace for 60 points, Garland on pace for 50. Dries on pace for 29 points, Joshua on pace for 19. Nice production from Dries but come on. That’s stat picking by Shah.
  14. Doesn’t matter if they can get a defender making less than 800k in a deal for Bo. You have the same cap hit you had this season for Myers and a roster spot for a young defender. The penalty the year after is irrelevant. They won’t be going into next season with Myers if they can’t trade him I can tell you that.
  15. They want two roster players though. Zboril is in the NHL, those other two are not. Not saying I want those pieces but that’s what they’re asking for. Two young roster players (Carlo, Zboril) and one top prospect (Lysell) There wont be picks or B prospects involved.
  16. Beecher looks like a bust. Carlo and Lysell would definitely have to be the two pieces from Boston. They don’t want a 1st so add another young player in the deal. Zboril maybe? Either way not really interested in making Boston better.
  17. This team isn’t rebuilding they made it perfectly clear. If they plan to be good in 2 years they’re not trading a point per game player. They’ll trade Horvat and Schenn at the deadline, and then look to move or buyout Myers and Boeser in the offseason.
  18. Right move at this point. If he continues on this trajectory he’s not making the NHL. Not too many players that struggle at the Allsvenskan level in their D+1 year go on to the NHL. Need to get his confidence going playing against guys closer to his age. The fan support and having Canucks development staff close would only be a benefit.
  19. Yep it makes sense for both sides. He’s young enough that he can still earn one more big contract if he can keep producing like this. A two year bridge deal is probably what they’re discussing. Doesn’t lock either side in too much.
