  1. The way it’s gonna be for awhile. The only coaches willing to come here will be because they’re desperate for work. Not until this organization can prove they’re running a professional hockey team and not a circus will any respectable coach come here.
  2. Detroit is an interesting one. They have lots of young players and prospects. I don’t suggest dealing with Yzerman though, it’s unlikely we win that trade. How is Colorado, New York (x2), and New Jersey out? None of those supposed final four are even rivals. You’re not gonna create much of a bidding war. I would wait till closer to the deadline when those teams are more desperate, and one or two of them start to load up. That’s how you create maximum return.
  3. I disagree with that. He’s trying to build what they have in Pittsburgh. Which is a system where you get a lot out of average D men because of a strong system. And even with injuries you can plug and play players and not miss a beat. Coupled with forwards who take care of their own end. That being said he’s barely done any of the work to accomplish that.
  4. I don’t want Kotkeniemi in a trade but if it gets a deal done with Carolina I’m good with it. As long as they realize he’s a cap dump and isn’t adding value to the trade. His contract is actually very buyout friendly. We could try him out here for a couple years and maybe boost his value. If not his buyout cap hit is only 800k. It’s for a long time but pretty minimal. Worth it to acquire Morrow, Jarvis, and a 1st.
  5. Man I just got choked up thinking about this… Bruce’s last game tomorrow, the boys get a good hard fought win for him. Time to hand out the belt, and whoever has it stands up, hands it to Bruce and thanks him. A round of applause and a nice handshake line.
  6. Better assistant coaches too. Most of us were not too thrilled with the Yeo and Cull hirings. And not upgrading King despite a very inconsistent powerplay was yet another oversight. But I still mostly blame Aquilini. He is interfering no matter how many managers say that he’s not. It’s quite obvious what his directives are. And despite spending on the team, he cheaps out in a lot of other crucial areas.
  7. Tough seeing Bruce emotional like that. But one good thing I think this will bring is uniting fans against ownership and management. Fans are fed up with how they’re running things and they’re not gonna hide behind little gimmicks and PR stunts anymore. After Bruce’s final two games I beg anyone planning to go to games to boycott them. I know tickets aren’t cheap but if you really care about this team it’s the strongest way to give an FU to ownership.
  8. My dream would be that he already talked to Trotz on the DL and has an agreement in place. Tocchett is actually coming in as his assistant until Trotz moves up to management. Gives Tocchett some more on the job training under one of the best. Not gonna happen but that would be my dream.
  9. Meh. Henrik used to make those passes with his eyes closed
  10. Lesson to management: This is why you have an associate coach that is experienced enough to take over if you need to make a change. You avoid this mess and have a much smoother transition. Someone like a Brad Shaw maybe…
  11. Still hoping for a surprise announcement that nobody has picked up on. JR has kept things quiet in the past like with the Miller signing.
  12. No, no, no. But this is exactly HOW MUCH we suck. Seems like we get rid of one media scumbag and another one spawns out of the swamp. He’s making me miss Tony Gallagher.
  13. It gives them a possibility at multiple playoff runs with him. You’re actually getting more value as rentals tend to cost almost as much. At least you’re getting a player past this season for the price. They have the cap space, the only question would be do they like the player as a long term fit.
  14. Rumours surrounding his draft interviews. Might be something might be nothing. I doubt Seattle trades him so it doesn’t really matter.
  15. Wining is all that matters. Doesn’t matter how balanced the “books” are if you ain’t achieving your ultimate goal.
  16. Is there a team that knows what the hell they’re doing in there?!?
  17. Hodgson was a wonder boy captain. How’d that turn out again?
  18. And at one point Puljujarvi was talked about at the same level as Laine. Character issues are definitely something to be aware of. Gotta do your homework on these guys. If he dropped in the draft and then Seattle was willing to trade him there could be something there. Wouldn’t be the first time.
  19. Isn’t that what he’s doing to the franchise?
  20. Trading your All-Star captain ain’t a great look for a team that thinks it can be a regular playoff team in two years… The pressure to hit a home run is enormous.
  21. Don’t get me wrong I’d take him, but lets not hype him too much. There may be some immaturity or character issues there. If Seattle was willing to part with him it would make me wonder.
