  1. So says the history of GMs with contending windows open. Only so many times you can be a top team and fail to get it done before changes are made.
  2. Running out of runway to be conservative. At some point they need to go all in.
  3. The way he reacted to not being 1st overall screamed entitlement to me. Might be a player who’s dad you have to deal with not unlike a former young player of ours.
  4. There were rumours they wanted to re-sign him. That very much could be in doubt now. Miller or Horvat with an extension might look a lot more enticing now.
  5. Mob ties? Isnt that how the Ducks won the cup in 07? If it gets us a cup I’ll take it!
  6. Will be interesting to see what a shutout loss for the Devils would do if that score holds up. Maybe make them worry about their offense a little? On the other side Seattles belief that they’re a contender continues to grow. Both good trade partners.
  7. Would be the ultimate switcheroo! Imagine this whole time JR is talking about how they can’t afford Bo just so teams take a run at Miller as the cheaper option.
  8. My hope is that offense goes down while goals against stays the same. That happens and the losses will pile up. Im sure his demands and new systems will be a shock to these guys. Can’t imagine Chaos and LOL will be able to just adapt.
  9. This is why teams wait right up until the deadline. Things like this can change everything for teams. If Pacioretty is out until playoffs they just opened up a ton of cap.
  10. I’m fine with Tocchett and Gonchar to an extent but I have no clue how Matvichuk fits the equation. Unless they’re planning to retain Yeo or make another hire. There’s no way he has the experience to run the D or the Pk. Maybe a King replacement ?
  11. He has won three cups so I’m not sure what you’re talking about. You can say he doesn’t have a winning record as head coach but he has definitely won.
  12. So they are making the exact same mistake What experience does Matvichuk have?! The guy has barely coached at the junior level. Owners cheaping out again.. He played for Doug Jarvis that’s the only reason I can see the connection here. More country club hires.
  13. One thing that I thought was a red flag when I heard the players speak about Boudreau is that he “lets them play”. Like yea, that’s what it looks like when I watch them play. A bunch of individuals playing and not sacrificing for the team. Letting them “play” is why they’re such a disorganized mess. We need a coach that isn’t afraid to push players to play the right way rather than the way they want to play. That means maybe not putting up as many points, but the stat that matters is wins. Some of these players don’t seem to get that connection.
  14. Agreed. This team has a looong ways to go before it can play that kind of hard nosed hockey.
  15. So Gonchar is confirmed or still just speculation? Any word on his other assistants(s)?
  16. Nice. Alright works for me. Having another Russian will help too.
  17. He’s been everywhere but yes he was part of their back to back cup wins. He would be my choice out of any possible coaches that Tocchett has coached with.
  18. You can be a diehard and support your team but moments like that deserve to be recognized and respected. It’s not every day a player scores 500 goals. Doesn’t mean fans accept losing it means they’re smart enough to recognize a moment like that is much bigger than a mean nothing game in January. I’d rather be a classy fan base.
  19. But they did that without Gonchar too. That comes down to just good scouting for me. Is there anything like a top penalty kill or anything else that he’s credited with?
  20. Bye bye Bedard. It was nice while the dream lasted. Clearly this ownership would rather keep trying to push the illusion that this team is close. Incoming 8 game coaching bump winning streak upcoming.
  21. Why do you think Gonchar would be good? Not disagreeing just curious. I know he was an assistant in one of their cup wins. Anything else?
  22. I’m thinking the Sedins must really like him. No more emotional decisions.
  23. Housley and Martin please! No to Gonchar and Recchi! Might as well just move the team to Pittsburgh and be done with it.
  24. Absolutely not. Winning will not get me excited for next season. I’ll credit that to a coaching bump and nothing more. Major surgery will still need to be done. Theres more to finishing low than just winning the lottery. Which we have two chances at with Fantilli (who might even be a better fit to be honest). We need to get in that top 5. This draft more than any other in awhile has legit elite players in the top 5. That’s how you pull yourself out of mediocrity. It’s not through free agency or hoping you can unload roster players for prospects.
