Yep great culture to set for guys like Caufield, Suzuki, and Dach. I can’t believe a Gm would actually have that conversation with his coach. As a highly competitive guy I’m sure St.Louis was disgusted by that. -

Human rights not politics. Supporting LGBTQ is not about politics. -

Except it’s not a religious thing it’s a societal thing. There are many different versions of the Catholic Church. Some accept gay people and some are intolerant and hateful towards them. In Russia they are of the second kind. It’s no different than criticizing an Islamic person from a country that jails and kills women for wanting equal rights. People are standing up for human rights, which him and his church is obviously against. And before anyone says that’s extreme he’s not killing anyone, gay people are being jailed and killed in Russia in the name of religion. People should be criticizing anyone who doesn’t speak out against that. -
[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks
DeNiro replied to HOFsedins's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I mean teams do things like that all the time whether they’re legit contenders or not. From what I’ve seen I don’t see any reason why they can’t challenge in the West. They’re getting scoring throughout the lineup and solid goaltending. Their directive might be to push for playoff success right away to build up their fan base (much like Vegas did). Bo helps them do that much more than Wright, who I think is at least a few years away from being an impact guy. Could be a similar situation to the Nieuwendyk for Iginla trade. Flames trade their 28 year old captain for a highly touted prospect. The Stars had just been relocated to Dallas and they were looking to make a splash and go for it. Ended up winning a cup 4 seasons later with a 32 year old Nieuwendyk leading the way. -

I don’t think anyones arguing that he should be forced to wear it, that’s obviously his choice. There’s also nothing in the CBA that allows them to punish him for doing it. However the same freedom that he’s been given is not being given to people in Russia. So I hope he appreciates that. And he should also appreciate that people have that same freedom to criticize him for that decision. Just like the Catholic Church here should be open to criticism for protecting pedophiles, the Russian Orthodox Church and people that support it should be open to criticism for their treatment of gay people. -
[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks

We’re in completely different situations though. We wouldn’t have traded Petey because we had no center depth and needed to rebuild around young talent. Seattle is in a completely different situation. Their team is showing they could seriously contend this season and they have most of their guys locked in. A 1-2 of Beniers and Horvat would give them legit center depth and allow them to go for it for at least the next 4-5 years with Bo in his prime (assuming they wanna extend him). No different than when Vegas traded Suzuki for Pacioretty once they realized they were legit contenders. -

Was about to post that. Im not really sold on Wright. Something about him reminds me of Cody Hodgson. That being said he would 100% have to be involved for us to trade him to a division rival. Rumour has it we already asked for another teams best prospect. He’s their best prospect so I don’t see why we wouldn’t ask for the same from them. I think Seattles timeline has completely changed. They’re fully in win now mode, probably sooner than they expected. I think a 1-2 of Beniers and Horvat would be very enticing to them. Them trading Wright would be similar to Vegas trading Suzuki. You could say why would they do that? But obviously they wanted to win now. Bo extended is worth the same amount or more as Pacioretty. -

I like Will Borgen. Not a sexy name but he fits the bill of what we need. 26 years old 6’3” RHD. Doesn’t put up big numbers but is on pace for about 21 points. -

They don’t have the pieces unless they’re willing to part with Wright. Wright, Geekie, Borgen and a 1st Thats the cost of trading within the division. -
Tank Hard for Bedard - Playoff chances are already Slim
DeNiro replied to Provost's topic in Canucks Talk
Only two games on the out of tank scoreboard tonight. Pens @ Sens Stars @ Sharks Not expecting a good night. I highly doubt either of those two win tonight. Tomorrow night on the other hand could be a good one. Panthers @ Canadiens Blackhawks @ Flyers Ducks @ Blue Jackets Caps @ Coyotes -
And what isn’t lame about that franchise? I would say these jerseys are perfect for them! Definitely looks like they didn’t spend much on them like everything else.

Breaking News: The Vancouver Canucks trade Bo Horvat, Luke Schenn and Quinn Hughes to New Jersey in a blockbuster. The Canucks receive Simon Nemec, Alexander Holtz, Michael McLeod, Damon Severson, Thomas Tatar, a 1st and 2nd round pick in 2023. CDC goes nuclear… -

Bahl could be included or not as long as McLeod and Holtz are involved I’m happy. Those two and a 1st would be a homerun imo. -

I’m worried that Allvin might rate some Euro players on other teams more highly than they should be. I hope Rutherford steps in if that’s the case. Like I get he probably has a soft spot for Swedish players but don’t let that cloud your judgment. If Toronto offers you Liljegren just say no! -

Yep Torts made that decision. We’ll see what conversations are happening behind closed doors though. I imagine the NHL doesn’t like that look when they’re promoting inclusiveness. Actually that’s exactly what that is. He’s promoting a religion that is openly homophobic, and supports jailing and killing gay people. I’m sure in early Nazi days they were looking the other way too. Like it’s not that bad, he doesn’t actually kill Jews he just hates them. Like holy crap some people are clueless to how bad it is for gay people over there. Not standing up to that makes you just as bad. Hes not afraid of the government, they’re not gonna do anything to him for wearing a rainbow jersey. Like people are calling for Russians to speak out about Putin but are perfectly fine spreading veiled homophobia in the name of religion. -
(Speculation) Conor Garland buyout this Summer?
DeNiro replied to Makaramel MacKhiato's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Please educate yourself on what they do to gay people in Russia before calling other people clueless. Clearly you’re completely ignorant to what is going on there. You can mask it as “freedom” all you want but it’s homophobia plain and simple. He doesn’t have to have done those things himself. All he has to do is support a leader, country, and religious organization that does do those things. And yes Jesus Christ would be ashamed. He accepted all people. -

It matters because, yes he does have the right to his beliefs, but the Flyers also have the right to not play him or want him to be part of their organization. Just like every other team. They have a larger fan base and a set of morals and conduct they have to stand by too. Homophobia is not something they want to represent. And before you say he doesn’t hate guy people, please educate yourself on what they do to gay people in Russia. This is a hate thing and not a religious belief. Supporting people who kill and imprison gay people just because of their lifestyle is not okay. You passing it off as freedom is adding to the problem. -

Yea that’s the good news. I think the Jackets are too good to be this bad. I think some teams will start taking them lightly and hopefully they get some wins. -

Not that long ago people didn’t accept black people in regular society. It was their right to believe that. Did that make it right? Be on the right side of history.
