  1. It’s not about what players you move in and out it’s the method in which this organization continues to build their teams that people have a problem with. They cut corners and throw away draft picks to try and shorten the timeline. It really doesn’t matter what GM and coach are in place when the directive is to constantly push for playoffs before the teams done being built. All that’s gonna equal is another capped out team without good depth to fill in the holes.
  2. I agree. I just want every “bullet in the chamber” we can get. I really believe one of the top 5-6 players in this draft can change the trajectory of this team. Add another Pettersson and Hughes level player to this group and we could be right there with the top teams. If we’re drafting 9-12 I’m not convinced we won’t see more of the same. Short stints of “success” followed by retools.
  3. Baffling comment. Of course we suffer. Like is he even a fan??
  4. But the culture is a losing culture regardless if fans want them to lose in the final 25 games… What is it you think we’ve been doing the last 10 years? We have a chance to add an elite piece to a core that could do something special and we’re not supposed to be upset when the team all of a sudden figures out how to win when the pressures off? If this team can’t put it all together I’ll always look at these 25 games and this draft as the turning point.
  5. And they suck at it. Who suffers the most? Us not them. Fans seem to forget they do have a say in things though. Stop paying for such a mediocre product and they’ll be forced to change their strategy.
  6. Yea I definitely get that part of it. But guess what would bring more fans to the table than artificially pumping up an average team? Drafting another superstar. If Aquilini can’t see the value of drafting a player like Michkov, one that will bring fans out of their seats I question his ability… Never mind not even worth it to analyze his ability to run a franchise.
  7. Yea we are. If you don’t see how we just went through one of the worst seasons in franchise history for nothing and not feel crappy about it I don’t know what to tell you. You can call it whining or being dramatic I see it as being robbed of a future that could include another elite piece to throw the window wide open for the next 10-15 years. Now we’ll be lucky if we can even snag a second pair D man or third line center. Thats the Vancouver way though. We’ll be lucky to get one decent run before going into another “retool”.
  8. Coaches have managers. Their job is to manage long term goals. They tell the coaches to rest Hughes and Demko more they do it. It’s absolutely Kuzmenko bananas to be playing Hughes over 28 minutes still and Demko 75% of the games…
  9. “A fool and his money are soon parted” Aquilini has this fanbase in the palm of his hand no matter how much they curse him. The tiniest amount of success and fans are back drinking the kool aid.
  10. That are two years away? Believe it or not some teams actually have a plan based on realistic timelines.
  11. Yep some people are either denying history or haven’t been around long enough. Im honestly getting pretty tired of repeating the same cycle again and again. Forever two years away!
  12. No reason to be celebrating this. Like yay we beat a team that I’m pretty sure has been told to lose… Yay worse draft pick! Really gonna help the build.
  13. I changed my mind about starting Delia. That man is winning something tonight. Thankfully he won’t be able to hurt our tank!
  14. I don’t think every player is like Eriksson. If he sees that he’s in the way of this teams build I think he’ll at least consider it. They’ll have to present him with a few options and be willing to bite the bullet with retention though.
  15. Don’t know how calling someone a “keyboard warrior” isn’t meant to be condescending. Also assuming someone hasn’t played sports at a high level, and implying that if they haven’t their opinion is somehow worth less. From my experience the people who brag about playing at a “high level” are usually exaggerating or weren’t that good.
  16. Yep and he would still be an asset to that team. All of sudden he starts playing better with the pressure off and they’ve got a top 4 D making under 5 mil they can trade. It’s not as unrealistic as people are making it out to be. But the first step is getting him healthy and playing better.
  17. Dead cap for that long is just as damaging though. Id rather try and rebuild him here and either have him play a role or convince him to waive for another team. We don’t know what’s going on in his head maybe he’s ready to move on. All those avenues need to be explored first, and if after a couple more seasons he’s still weighing us down then you buy him out. We can’t be making more short sighted decisions that cost us more later. That’s how we got into this mess. We’re not that close that we need to be so focused on next season.
