What a lunatic! Guy comes out of nowhere and barrels to the net.

Ahh oh well. Lots of great players were cut from team Canada. Can't believe Glass was cut. I can only imagine the reaction on here had we taken him 5th overall and he was cut, all while Pettersson's having the season he's having.
-
Hopefully it will light a fire under him and he can tear it up for the Rockets in their march for a memorial cup. There's always next year too.

Great academic school, not so great for producing major league athletes. I'd rather he go to BU, BC, Michigan, Wisconsin, or one of the Minnesota schools. Powerhouse athletic schools that produce major league athletes. Lately Harvard has produced the likes of Vesey and Kerfoot, but overall their track record is not great. Lets hope we don't waste another four years following another Patrick McNally.

For sure. There was one play where he tried to take his check but was knocked down. Tied up his man enough for another guy to get the puck out. But he was at least trying. That's all I wanna see out of a skilled guy. The worst thing is when a skilled player won't even engage.

He's our head scout in Sweden. Has been right more than a few times when it comes to European players. I don't agree with him that Pettersson should have been in the NHL though. Last thing we need is one of our top prospects suffering a concussion because he can't handle the physicality of the NHL.

I just think guys like Horvat and Boeser will be in a much better position to lead the next wave of young players if they learned what it takes to win first. That's a value you can't measure in top 5 picks.
-
I don't agree. Learning how to win is part of a players development. If you keep telling a player to play a certain way and they'll have success, but it never comes they lose confidence. Having no confidence for a young player is a dangerous thing. It can derail their development if it's not taken care of. Simply getting points but losing every game is not enough. Players play to win. And you can't just flip a switch once you think all the pieces are in place. It's a long process for young players to gain consistency and to win games.

I think their plan all along was to have Goldobin develop in the minors for a season, and then hopefully be ready to replace Vanek by the trade deadline. That would be the perfect scenario. But if Goldobin isn't ready and Vanek is a big part of our push for a playoff spot, I'd keep him and a chance to get the young guys playoff experience. Better than a 3rd round pick IMO.
-
Meaning guys like Horvat, Pouliot, and Gaunce are likely struggling big time. But screw them right? Who cares about their development as long as we get a top 5 pick!
-
I guess we should be playing Boeser on the fourth line if we wanna draft Dahlin, right?
-
At the same time you can't sacrifice the development of the current young players in the hopes you'll draft some white knight prospect like Dahlin. If guys like Horvat, Boeser, Baertschi, and Pouliot are taking the reigns, you do everything to support their development. Which means surrounding them with talent. I hate when people say we should tank right out of the gate, without even seeing the steps the team has taken. That would have done no good for a guy like Boeser this season.

Problem is he's going to miss games due to world juniors and possibly the olympics. I doubt it's possible to manage that with games missed.
-
Same thing happened to Quick. I find him very arrogant in his interviews now.
-
It has always been about getting stronger with him. That will still need to be worked on for him to handle a much tougher physical league.
-
Yep, good memory. He played 3 games in the World Juniors and 5 games in the Olympics that year. Seems a little less impressive now, although Switzerland isn't exactly booming with NHL talent. To do it for Sweden or Finland would be a little more impressive.
-
DiPietro out of the Windsor lineup too... Anyone know what's going on with him? In Vancouver signing contracts?
-
Here's a question for the hockey minds of CDC. Who was the last player to play in both the World Juniors and the Olympics in the same year? And what are the chances both Juolevi and Pettersson accomplish that? You could even throw in World championships into the mix if they accomplish the first two.

Then you haven't witnessed the politics that have gone on for the past 10 years with team Canada. Gadjovich is not a big name or high profile scorer in the OHL. He had to go above and beyond the higher drafted players to get noticed. So no sadly a game where he screens the goalie and shoots alot isn't likely to catapult him onto the team.
-
Nope. I think Dipietro has the best shot. Will probably have to battle carter for the starting position. Lind will have a fairly good shot after his hot start and good showing in the Canada Russia series. Gadjovich will be the one with outside shot after his injury and average showing at the series.
-
Anyone know if DiPietro is taking part in the next Canada-Russia game? What about Gadjovich?
-
Lind with the short-handed game tying goal against the Giants in the 3rd. Clutch goal by him as usual.
-
Both sites I've looked at don't have Lockwood assisting on the 4-4 goal, and have him with just the assist on the winner. May have hit his own guy in front.
-
Yea I'm sure people would dump on him quite a bit.
