  1. Didn't deserve to advance at all. Played way too passive and looked intimidated by Seattle.
  2. DiPietros size is not what will hold him back. He's almost the same size as Quick and plays a similar style (albeit much more unrefined at this point) The knock on him was always that he needed proper coaching to refine his game. Until he gets that it's a little premature to judge him. One thing that is at a high level already is his work ethic and battle level. That has gotten a lot of average goalies to a level critics never expected them to.
  3. Hey come on, I may hype prospects, but there's no way I'd ever post a lineup like that.
  4. I actually think right wing benefits him more in a defensive standpoint. He seems to have figured out how to crossover to the left wing and get his shot off anyways, so being on the right side isn't that big of deal. I mean if he can get 8 shots in a game, it's not hurting him.
  5. Unfortunately we have the most depth on the right side in our prospect pool. We better hope he doesn't develop as a right winger because that's not a position of need. I hope once he adjusts to the SHL they slot him in at center, at least here and there.
  6. After that rough outing in Boston Nilson's stats had a major rebound. He now has a 1.84 GAA and a .949 SV%,
  7. If Dorsett and Sutter are playing their game, Granlund will get lots of juicy rebounds from them going to the net. Granlund should be getting first unit powerplay time at some point. That's where he can get those nice passes in the slot. 5 on 5 he's one of our best two way forwards, and he needs to keep developing that side of his game. He'll be much more valuable as a multi-dimensional player.
  8. Would love if he developed some chemistry with Palmu. I've got a good feeling about that guy. Definitely looks to have a decent chance to be a player in the NHL.
  9. Which is why I don't think it makes sense to part with D depth in order to add a center. We have Pettersson and Gaudette coming down the pipe, why give up valuable assets now?
  10. Granlund has gotta be happy getting his minutes on that line. Sutter and Dorsett open up a ton of space for him, I think it will only be a matter of time before the points come. I have a feeling we'll see him on about every line throughout the season as well.
  11. Botchford has already proven he has absolutely zero insider knowledge. He's a tabloid "journalist". Why people continue to quote him as a source I'll never know.
  12. True. But I still think you need to have players like Guddy and Dors on the ice for players to be willing to play like that.
  13. This has been Baertschi's problem so far. He hasn't been quite consistent enough to be a regular top 6, and doesn't bring the game to compliment a bottom 6 line. Hopefully he can take another step this season and solidify himself as a 40-50 point guy. I do think he has made an effort to work on the defensive side of the game as well.
  14. I really believe this is the Dorsett/Gudbranson effect that we were missing last season. Everyone's playing a little bigger with those two in the lineup.
  15. If they're looking for D, the trade won't be possible till Edler and/or Stecher are back. These kinds of trades can take months anyways.
  16. I think it shows the importance of having a coach that can send a clear message and get players to buy in. Judging from last season it didn't sound like him and Willie communicated that well.
  17. Makes sense. Not sure they're happy with Burmistrov as a regular center. Adding someone like Reinhart would really fill out the depth. Horvat Reinhart Sedin Sutter
  18. He's got more important things to focus on right now. Being distracted by other teams agitators, who will likely follow him around all game if he plays like that, is not one of them. It's great that he has that ability in his toolbox. It means in games where he may not be playing his best offensively, he can make an impact in other ways.
  19. It's the first line talent that we're missing out on that is what hurts. For a team desperate for elite first liners, it's tough to watch other teams take guys like Ehlers, Nylander, Tkachuk, Pastrnak, and Keller who are having success almost immediately. We can't afford to keep missing out on players like this. Even when he took a D he passed on Sergachev, who's looking like the better player (even though it's early). The good thing is he does have a knack for finding talent in later rounds, and acquiring other teams undervalued prospects. I hope that is what balances things out in the end.
  20. Lind having himself another nice game. A goal and two assists in one period of play. Creeping back to that 2 PPG mark.
  21. He did. His team won 6-3 but no points for him or Palmu. 3 games in and he's still waiting for his first point.
  22. Wouldn't mind seeing Jake sub in for Vanek or Gagner. Both were horrible last game.
  23. Especially with Salo saying something along the lines of "Our strength trainers will be on him".
