Lol no kidding. Some players are sexually assaulting girls or smuggling drugs across the border. We're worried about a kid getting fined for fishing. Man it's a slow summer.

Gaunce is a fourth liner, I don't think anyone will argue against that. I don't think anyone's saying he should be playing on the second line. But he will get a regular role under Green and not be bounced for guys like Megna and Chaput. He'll probably also play with more talented players as well. I'm thinking Gaunce Sutter Dorsett should be what we have penciled in before training camp. A solid shutdown line that plays a heavier game. That was what this team has been sorely lacking the last few seasons.
-
Green will give him his chance. He knows better than most what he brings to the table.
-
He's also 5'8" with a pretty small upper body. Not hard to have all his muscle mass in his lower body.

A coach wants a goalie that he knows can win the big game. Dipietro has shown he can thrive in the big games and stay calm under pressure. I think that alone will give him an edge. Hart will likely be starter, but if he falters early I don't think it's impossible that Dipietro could be given the reigns.
-
He said he made some nice plays but he said something along the lines of him needing "more mileage". To me that sounds like he's saying we'll see where he's at next season. But depending on injuries, who makes what teams, and how he starts the season it's not impossible. i just think there's too many older players ahead of him for him to have a real shot.
-
Listening to Canadas coach it sounds like he really likes Gadjovich and Dipietro's game. Lind on the other hand will likely have to wait until next year for his shot.
-
Not really necessary with the game he plays. He just needs to not be intimidated in front of the net. At 5'6" any fight with a much bigger defender is going to end poorly for him no matter how strong he is.
-
It's similar with all the small star players, they have quads like tree trunks. That's the key to not getting knocked off the puck.
-
People always tend to over-hype these late round picks. That being said, I like his potential though. It's always best to go boom or bust at this position and I think that's what they did. One thing that sets him apart from other smaller skiled guys is his commitment to strength and conditioning. He knows at an early age that the only way he's going to compete at the next level at his size is to be stronger and faster than the competition. Based on what I've seen the guy is built like a tank, so the physical aspect pf the game should be much less challenging for him.
-
Every year Canada adds one player for their size and grit even if it's at the expense of a more skilled player. Gadjovich could definitely be that guy.
-
Yea this could be one of the best represented world juniors yet.
-
^^ Did Canada really crash and burn or did they lose to one of the best world junior teams that Finland has ever iced? How about give credit where credit is due instead of dumping on the Canadians.

Just seems like in today's NHL everyone wants instant gratification. Like if a player isn't in the NHL by 21 they're a bust. Young players are more and more NHL ready nowadays due to training, but people have to remember these are still very young men who are going to develop physically and mentally at their own pace. Think back when you were 20 if you could handle the pressures of being a pro. Even some of our best prospects through the years didn't enter the NHL till 22 or later. Yet we expect Virtanen, who clearly needed development time from the start, to just jump straight in and start sniping and bowling over full grown men? It's not realistic. With him I think it's a maturity thing. How bad he wants to be a pro will determine how far he goes. He needs to start giving his all to training and start ignoring all the off ice distractions that will hold him back. If he can do that he's got a ton of potential to be an impact player still.

As long as Ehlers and Nylander are better it will be a bad pick in their minds no matter what he does. They don't seem to realize that just because he might not end up putting up big point totals, doesn't mean he can't contribute to games in other meaningful ways. Still a long path of development ahead for him. His future is far from being written.
-
Nope, but I remember Josh Holden. Put up 112 points for Regina in his draft year. Went on to put up 13 points in 46 games for the Canucks before going to Carolina. That was back when 100+ points in junior was much more common though.
-
Nathan Barrett, an 8th round pick from 2000, was the last Canuck draft pick to put up 100 points in the WHL. He did it in his overage season for the Lethbridge Hurricanes. Went on to play an astounding 0 games in the NHL.

Where does it say Dahlen will play in the AHL? Linden was basically alluding to him playing in Sweden.
-
Would love to watch him in this years world juniors. He's going to have to get off to a hot start like last season.
-
Gunnarsson will be too old to play in the world juniors this season. He played for Sweden last season though. Add Dipietro to the list of possible players. He'll likely challenge Carter Hart for the net.
-
They have chemistry together playing for Timra. The SHL is a whole other challenge in which having that chemistry already in place will help both of their development. Developing chemistry with guys in Utica who may or may not even become NHLers seems unecessary to me. Plus the whole idea that they need to adapt their game to North American style is a bit overrated IMO. Guys come over from the SHL and KHL and adapt just fine. The speed and agility these two already play with is what will allow them to adapt. They just need more strength.
-
Having Dahlen play in the SHL with Pettersson would be a good thing. They can both push each to get stronger and faster and continue to build chemistry. Then when they come over to the AHL the transition should be much easier. I think it's pretty obvious these two will end up playing together, might as well have them develop together as well.
-
I would add Gunnarsson to that list. I think he has a real shot at being bottom pairing guy for us. Loves to throw the body from the sounds of it. Outside shot of Cederholm as well, who appears to be a physical beast. Really hope Tryamkin comes back when this team is ready to compete too.

So any rumor TSN reports is fact? I guess you believe everything you see on fox news too... Critical thinking people, it's important!

Zero truth to it. If your gonna use botchford as a source we might as well allow eklund sources again too.
