  1. Hey, if Juolevi can help keep one of the best teams in the CHL off the scoreboard he's doing fantastic.
  2. A rematch of last years conference finals where the Knights swept the Otters. The Otters are the best team in the OHL this year, probably in the CHL. If the Knights can beat them I think they go all the way. Juolevi is going to be tasked with slowing down Strome and Debrincat. Definitely not an easy task.
  3. Not true actually. He struggled early on and was considering bolting back to Russia. Scotty Bowman taught him to be a complete player though.
  4. I don't doubt his commitment or work ethic. Lots of prospects work their butts off to make the NHL and it never happens though. That's just the odds. If he can work hard over the summer and earn a regular spot in Utica, then we can start looking at him as a possible NHLer. Until then, we should just temper expectations like we would with any undrafted UFA signing.
  5. There's no chance in hell we pass on Vilardi or Mittelstadt to take Necas. I think even Liljegren is probably higher on Benning's list than him. Necas would be a good pick if we end up picking around 7 or 8.
  6. Don't wanna be a Debbie Downer, but Grenier looked pretty dominant as an over-ager too. Until we see how his game translates to the next level I'm gonna hold off on the hype.
  7. Even Datsyuk had to evolve his game at the NHL level, and he had all the skill in the world. No one is expecting him to be a Selke winner, he has to be able to handle simple defensive assignments though and be willing to engage in puck battles. No coach is going to play a player that doesn't have at least the fundamentals to be responsible in their own end.
  8. He reminds me of Baertschi when he first arrived. The skill is apparent but the effort level needed for this level isn't quite there. That's why I'd like to see him get in some games for the Comets. Green has done a great job getting guys like Baertschi and Virtanen playing the right way. I'd like to see what he can do with Goldobin.
  9. The only reason Larsen gets special treatment is because Willie had him in the minors. He's playing favorites during a time we should be focused on evaluating talent for next season. Willie seems like a real good guy off the ice, but as a coach he is lacking in alot of areas.
  10. Well they said he wasn't strong enough for the NHL in preseason. Not sure he's gotten a whole lot stronger yet. I think he'd be more suited for the AHL level right now. We'll see if Benning is motivated to try and sell his young prospects to fans to end the season though.
  11. Sitting him at this point accomplishes nothing. Only way he improves is if he plays. If they don't think he's quite ready for the NHL, send him to Green down in Utica to get him back on track. They need him more than the Canucks need him sitting in the pressbox.
  12. I remember when the Canucks tried to play like that against the Kings and Sharks. All it did was give them powerplays and burn us on the score sheet. It's good to have team toughness, but when it's at the expense of actually playing the game, it's useless.
  13. Once his team is eliminated he's free to play in the AHL.
  14. Willie is daring Benning to fire him. Did he not tell him publicly that they would be playing the kids more? Why are Chaput and Biega playing over him, makes no sense. Put Eriksson with the Sedins and Goldobin on the third line.
  15. So Knights down 3-1 now? I wonder if Benning would consider sending Juolevi to Utica, or if they think he should just start on his offseason training.
  16. There's a difference between playing tough and playing dirty. Get a rule book. Tkachuk is looking more like Matt Cooke than anything resembling a gritty powerforward.
  17. If he scores 40 and wins a Selke then maybe he'll be respected. Right now he's creating a bad rep for himself real fast. Only a matter of time before the league neuters him and he's marked by the refs.
  18. Looks like a dirtier Ryan Kesler out there.
  19. Pretty sure people most people claimed we shouldn't take Tkachuk because of his 5 on 5 numbers as well. Doesn't actually mean a whole lot.
  20. According to the London Knights twitter he did.
  21. Has Benning or Juolevi's camp ever brought up Europe as a possibility for Juolevi?
  22. Didn't he demolish Logan Brown (6'6" 214 lbs) with an open ice hit last game? Still waiting for the video on that. Not saying that's going to be a regular part of his game, but he can certainly handle himself when he has to.
  23. Seems like the biggest gamble, with the highest ceiling type player. I wouldn't be surprised if he had a Kyle Connor like season next year for Minnesota.
  24. So glad we were able to keep Melanson on board. No doubt he had a hand in working with Demko on his positioning.
