  1. Next page over. That's who I was referring to. Making claims like he's better than Nylander is setting yourself up for disappointment.
  2. No kidding. People need to realize he's still a work in progress. He has lots of potential for sure, but lets not start guaranteeing anything here.
  3. His skating could use some work but it's not that bad. Imagine what he could do with Horvat's speed.
  4. Comparing Schneider's first season to Demko's isn't really fair. The Moose had a veteran lineup that was a Calder Cup contender and Demko has a very young team in front of him with a blueline that gives up far too many opportunities most nights. Add to that the fact that he only plays once a week (if that), and it's alot to ask for a young goalie. Demko showed earlier in the season when Bachman was out that he can more than handle the AHL level. His biggest problem seems to be getting in a groove after siting out for long stretches. He's so used to being the guy that plays every game, that it's a bit of an adjustment to play the backup role. It's all part of the learning curve though.
  5. From what I've seen of his play he could have quite a few more points than he has just by the opportunities he creates. Seems like he's part of a new younger core at Michigan that should grow together and be ready to challenge by his third year there.
  6. Wasn't even the one that brought his name up. There's always going to be comparison of prospects after they're drafted. It happens every year. Don't like it? Don't read it.
  7. Right. Because I have the opinion that we shouldn't have passed on a great prospect I'm a Flames fan... Lets all just praise everything management does and never question anything. Good little sheep right? Give us your wallets.
  8. Calling him the "god Tkachuk" would imply sarcasm.
  9. He's also 19 and second on the Flames in scoring ahead of Monahan and Gaudreau.
  10. You can bash Tkachuk all you want. He's a good player putting up points in the NHL though.
  11. As good as Stecher has been early on, I still think he would be better served playing on the second pairing. Those pairing also need some more size and pushback, which is why I think Gudbranson will be in their long term plans.
  12. Fair enough. It's also important to not put too many expectations on these guys though. To pick one of, if not the best defenseman of all time to compare him to is a bit much to hope for I think.
  13. Would love to get him in the system playing with Demko. Can never have too many quality goalies.
  14. Still need another top center and winger. Hopefully we can get the top center and winger this draft and Lockwood surpasses expectations.
  15. I would be ecstatic if he was half as good. Lidstrom is the best defenseman of all time in my books.
  16. It's the later rounds that scouts like him earn their paycheck. Like you said any average GM can make a good pick in the top ten, yet even master scouts like Benning still make mistakes there. Whether it's believing a player has intangibles that make them underrated, or just seeing too many flaws in the players that are ranked higher. I get why Benning picked Juolevi. We need elite defensemen in our system pretty badly. I don't agree with passing on the best player available though. And Tkachuk was the best player available. If anything his selection of Brisebois just shows that he can find these smooth puck movers past the first round.
  17. All you have to do is take a quick peak at the Cole Cassels thread during the summer of 2015 to see there were countless bottom 6 projections.
  18. His track record shows that he's actually better at finding talent in later rounds rather than in the first. Look at his time in Boston and Buffalo.
  19. Pretty much everyone. He has been penciled into our third/fourth line until last season.
  20. Not that long ago Cassels was also penciled in to be an NHL regular too. No guarantees. Even Skille put up better points in the AHL than Virtanen. He's gotta get his crap together otherwise he's gonna join the long list of top 10 players that busted.
  21. If only his top 10 picks would pan out this team should have a very solid foundation in the future.
  22. Definitely not unrealistic to see him as a top 4 in the next few years. With good hockey sense and skating already, the only thing left for him to do is get stronger. He may give us the luxury of trading someone like Hutton or Tanev going forward.
  23. Virtanen has to make it there first. No guarantees at this point.
  24. All primary assists too! Inching a little closer to that point per game mark.
