  1. I bet Hunter would have a glowing review of Tkachuk too. Just because some people wanted Tkachuk, doesn't mean they think Juolevi is bad.
  2. I would consider the ability to force turnovers good hockey IQ. I don't think he'll ever be a great playmaker though. He's going to either need to drive to the net himself or have his linemates feed him the puck in the slot. That's how he's going to get points.
  3. For sure. Now that the coach knows he can play that way he's gonna expect it every game. No more games where he gets zero shots and zero hits. When he's involved he can be a force out there.
  4. Getting Parsons, Jones, and Pu back made a big difference. I notice Juolevi's PIMs have gone up quite a bit. Hopefully that means his getting involved more physically.
  5. I think Rhett Gardner is playing center on his line right now. Big drop in terms of skill compared to Jost and Schmaltz. That explains why his point totals are dropping.
  6. Follows up a strong performance with kind of a dud. Only 1 shot on goal tonight. Still gotta work on that consistency.
  7. He has been on for one even strength goal against and two short handed goals against. So he's only a -1.
  8. Looking alot more like the player he was in junior. With his speed he should be able to consistently force turnovers like that. It's just the willingness to do it that he has to keep working on.
  9. Awesome to hear he had a great game. The problem has never been that he can't play this way, it's been that he hasn't played this way consistently. Lets hope he can follow this up with another great performance and start moving in the right direction.
  10. That's pretty impressive for a sophomore. I would think we have a decent chance of signing Aston-Reese too since we have Gaudette and a lack of forward depth.
  11. Impressive. I think he's top 5 in NCAA scoring now. (5 guys tied for 1st)
  12. He seems to be a great find for Benning and co. I know people aren't a fan of Weisbrod, but I think Gaudette was probably his recommendation based on his scouting background. What are Gaudette's updated point totals now then?
  13. Wow NU with a huge comeback win. Gaudette sounds like he was very involved too. Winning key draws and factoring in the tying and winning goals.
  14. Ask Horvat how much of an impact Hunter had him and you'll have all you need to know. Developing bad habits at 16, 17, and 18, can shape what type of player they'll be. Bo is a good two way player because Hunter coached him to be a good two way player. Yes he worked hard, but he had great guidance from a legendary junior coach.
  15. Well if you can give credit to coaching, you can give blame to it too. It's not a coincidence that Dale Hunter producers NHLer after NHLer. He knows a thing or two about moulding guys into complete players.
  16. Yea I guess we should all just step back from focusing on him for awhile and realize it's probably going to be a long process. I have no problem with him taking until 22-23 as long as he comes into the league a complete player.
  17. I feel bad for the guy because I used to watch him play for the Hitmen and it was obvious his coach just didn't coach proper fundamentals. That was the age he needed to learn proper systems and how to play at both ends of the ice. It's why you can't stress the importance of drafting from good programs enough.
  18. Wow, it was worse than I thought. He looks like a player who has no idea where to be on the ice, looking around constantly instead of tracking the puck and picking up his check.
  19. Yep so lets see how bad he wants it. So far he's no where close to earning his way back to Vancouver. If he has to spend two more seasons there after this one to get it then so be it.
  20. Draft hard workers instead, it's too hard to try and teach them work ethic at age 20.
  21. Never wanted Dubois. I always thought he was the biggest gamble after flying up the rankings late. Pulljujarvi has 5 points in 6 games in the AHL. At least he's showing he can produce at that level. Jake not producing at the AHL should be raising red flags for everyone. Not likely a player goes on the be a successful NHL player if they can't even produce in the AHL over the course of a season. Tkachuk was definitely a sure fire pick, go back and listen to the scouts. He should have been ranked the number 1 North American player but everyone seemed to get enamored with Dubois size and 2-way play.
  22. Ain't gonna happen. These are the types of unrealistic expectations that put too much pressure on these young guys. At this stage if Virtanen becomes a physical 3rd liner who can score 15-20 that will be considered a success to me.
  23. Tkachuk was the sure fire pick and he's proving it. Juolevi represents more of a gamble, which I hope pays off. But again this is Adam Gaudette talk.
  24. Definitely similarities in their games for sure. He plays with a ton of energy and is very gritty for a smaller guy. That alone will set him apart from a guy like Schroeder. Gaudreau had 3 years of development in college though on a much better team. We'll see where Lockwood is at in a couple years. Michigan is a great program.
  25. I think Gaudette has the better chance just based on his overall game. But man watching Lockwood when he's on is fun. That guy can make things happen all over the ice. If we can get two NHLers out of these guys that will be a huge win.
