  1. Maybe it's time to just face the facts that this team has horrible player development, has for years. It's not a coincidence that as soon as they get their hands on these young promising prospects they start to fade.
  2. Lol, I just realized that. Man that team should just trade those picks when they get them. They really haven't worked out for them.
  3. Torres was 5th overall, still bad though. I wouldn't say at worst he becomes a Raffi Torres. Player development can go badly at any point. At worst he toils away in the AHL and is just never able to take his game to a consistent enough level to play in the NHL. I mean who would have said at worst Hodgson would be out of the league at age 25? I'm never going to slap an "at worst" label on any player.
  4. The only thing that's keeping me positive about his numbers is looking at Ryan Kesler's numbers in his first 30 games. Although Kesler was a year younger and had a much more refined game.
  5. Taken quite a dip since his awesome streak earlier in the season. In his last 6 he has a 3.67 GAA and a .807 SV% The team as a whole has been sliding hard lately though. They need Pedan and Biega back ASAP. Not really fair to Demko to make him the starter in his first season on a team so poor. Bachman being back will likely take some pressure off.
  6. College drafting appears to be a real strength of this management team right now. So nice to at least have that going for us with drafting after so many years of failure.
  7. It was bound to happen on a team that lost alot of talent up front this year. Lockwood doesn't have guys like Schmaltz and Caggiula to play with on the top line.
  8. You are correct. I forgot he had a March birthday. Still was hoping for a bit more on the powerplay for his second tournament.
  9. Not a good tournament for him, no need to sugar coat it. As a 19 year old he should at the very least be able to spark their powerplay, but they only have 1 goal. Hopefully this drives him to come back strong for London.
  10. Was it even confirmed he had a separated shoulder? He was back in today so I'm assuming it was just sore or sprained.
  11. I've never been a believer in taking a D-man top 10 unless they're a sure thing like Doughy, Hedman, or Ekblad. Too much risk with D-men taken here, not to mention there's always good D-men in the late first and early 2nd that are just as good.
  12. McCann over Pastrnak I'll give him a pass on because he was highly rated. But passing on Ehlers and Tkachuk is already coming back to bite us. He went against the rule of taking best player available and went for need instead. He thought we needed to get bigger and tougher, and that we needed to get a puck mover. Both are true, but you only fill those needs if those players happen to be the best player available. Virtanen and Juolevi were not BPA.
  13. The league will always have a place for hard nosed players that go to the net.
  14. Probably Hischier because he seems to be the dynamic type of forward we need. This team needs an exciting player again. Patrick reminds me of Strome. A good center but nothing really special or that exciting about him.
  15. Yea it's one game. I'm a little more curious about his ice time. As a 19 year old you would hope he'd be getting top minutes. Sounds like three D-men had more minutes than him. Either way, hoping for a stronger game next time.
  16. On the other hand Cody Hodgson lead the tournament in points when he played.
  17. True every pick deserves patience, but it's pretty obvious Tkachuk was destined to be that top 6 player that we're hoping Virtanen becomes. He's already on pace for almost 60 points at 18 and he plays with an edge. Tkachuk was the safe pick like Bo was the safe pick. I just see more risk coming with Juolevi, which will hopefully come with a higher reward. We won't likely know for at least a few years though.
  18. He's out with injury. He had wrist surgery recently, I think he's out 4-6 weeks.
  19. I agree if Juolevi becomes that first pairing number 1 guy Benning will look like a genius. However if he just becomes an okay top 4 or worse, we passed on a sure fire top 6 player that we needed. I guess we'll keep playing the waiting game.
  20. Tkachuk was too obvious of a choice to make, so they decided to go against the rankings like always.
  21. Leading all skaters with 4 shots so far. Good to see.
  22. Juolevi isn't playing? I guess he's at team Finland's camp?
  23. Boeser and Brisebois out. Looks like I'll be rooting for Finland!
