  1. Everyone should have expected an adjustment period. Utica's Swiss cheese D hasn't helped either. Those numbers can change very quickly the more he plays.
  2. He can't sign a contract until he's done college. I'm sure there will be lots of teams after him in the summer.
  3. Jake Virtanen is physically ready for the NHL too, does that mean he should be there right now? Being physically ready and being mentally ready are two different things. Chychrun hasn't proven anything yet other than the fact that he can skate at the NHL level.
  4. Boeser second overall in NCAA scoring (1 less game), Gaudette tied for 8th, and Lockwood 2 points back of the top 10 with one less game played. These guys are all off to hot starts.
  5. Their D core outside of OEL and Goligoski is pretty weak. I wouldn't say their D is on par with ours, so I'm not sure the statement about Juolevi is true. He would have had to beat out Edler, Hutton, Sbisa, and Tryamkin. Chychrun didn't have nearly the same level of competition. Under Tippett's system any average goalie can look good, so I'm not so sure it's not just lack of depth on D. Regardless, unless a D-man is on the same level as Ekblad they shouldn't be playing in the NHL at 18.
  6. Boeser with another goal. They changed Jost's goal to Boeser so he has two now.
  7. CDC logic states that if one player has put up points at a higher level than another player, that player is better and will ALWAYS be better. Haven't you read your CDC manual?
  8. Add an apple to his goal for a two point night so far. That's 5 points in 5 periods.
  9. We can afford it, the only question is would it be worth it. Probably not.
  10. Wonder what it would take us to get Jost from Colorado.
  11. With our lack of 2nd round selections over the past few years, it's so important that some of these later round college guys pan out for us. Great to see him continue the way he finished last season.
  12. I hope he can play a big role for team USA in the world juniors this year. It would be a nice coming out party for him.
  13. Does that show how good he is or how bad the Yotes are? I'm pretty sure Juolevi would be putting up points had we forced him into the lineup and given him big minutes. Doesn't mean he was ready though. Also, the Coyotes have allowed 18 goals against in 4 games, so that tells you all you need to know about their D core.
  14. Wow, Boeser with the hatty, Lockwood with a 3 point night, and Gaudette with a 3 point night. Oh and all three of them scored the game winners. Our college players have some serious game.
  15. Just based of limited highlights and what I've read, I would say Brendan Gallagher.

Except Sutter and Hansen are both more proven scorers than Horvat and Baertschi. Just because a line is a good two-way line doesn't mean it has to be a third line. Sutter and Hansen are the second line until Horvat and Baertschi show they can consistently outscore them.

Our second line is Granlund - Sutter - Hansen. Skille or Virtanen are on our third line until Rodin comes back.
  18. The thing is I don't think coaches think his skating is good enough to handle the fast teams. Problem is Sbisa and Larsen are both great skaters and still get overwhelmed by fast skaters. Tryamkin's biggest asset is his reach, if he uses that to take away time and space he'll be fine.
  19. The thing about being so mobile is that he can make mistakes and still get back into position in time. That's a great quality to have. When guys like Edler, Sbisa, and Tryamkin make mistakes, it's over. They don't have lateral mobility to get back in time.
  20. Wow. Reminds me of when Grabner used to consistently put up 7 or 8 shots a night.
  21. But at the end of the day if you can't run the ball one yard you don't deserve to win.
  22. Bush league call from bush league officials.
  23. Seeing an 18 year old play for 3 preseason games is hardly enough to determine whether he'll be able to handle 82 regular season games. Regardless of how well he played, he was not physically ready. That's why he's going back to junior.
  24. Yea, but even if we didn't have the depth Juoevi should have been sent back to junior.
