  1. He'll be an RFA though. Doesn't the player have to be signed?
  2. Still on an ELC, he's not eligible is he?
  3. Honestly I don't think he even needs to try out. If he's in junior next season the Finnish team will add him.
  4. Tkachuk Horvat Boeser was the line that I was dreaming about all offseason up until the draft. I understand why they went with the D-man though. Left wingers are much easier to acquire than top young puck movers. It would have been another year we failed to address a huge hole in our depth chart,
  5. Linden said at this years development camp that he's up to 6'3" now. Those scouting reports are likely at least a year old. And yea I hope all those tools translate to the next level.
  6. Juolevi is actually 6'3". Should top out at about 200lbs when he fills out. Size is definitely not an issue for him, even though that is not part of his game. His smarts and skating will allow him to move the puck before guys are even on him.
  7. The difference between a guy like this and Dane Fox is skating. Fox's skating was always going to hurt his chances. Good to see management going after guys that can skate and go to the net hard.
  8. And who also had 7 points in 59 AHL games last season. Not exactly great competition there. I doubt they're filming it.
  9. Tied for first in the tournament in scoring. But like you said, it doesn't mean much. Especially when a guy like Stu Bickell has 7 points in 2 games. Either way it's good that he's getting to play against some NHLers so he can compare himself to guys that are at that level.
  10. Please don't tell me they're going to try and mold him into a Manny Malhotra type player. He has way too much offensive upside to just be a shutdown center. Yes he needs to take care of his own end, but if he's capable of creating offense with skilled players let him do it. Willie's assessment of talent isn't very good if all he's sees in Bo is a real good checking center.
  11. His head coach is Keith Ballard. Maybe he can give advice on how to not end up in the coaches dog house. Or maybe not...
  12. Rushing 18 year old defensemen is a bad idea. I'd rather be safe than sorry and send him back to London.
  13. We'll know more after his second season IMO. If he can carry on where he left off and be at a point or game or higher the whole season I don't see why his projection can't be a third line center at least.
  14. Better be willing to put alot of time in the gym this summer then. That's the only way he makes the team.
  15. Well people in the know who watch London have said that Juolevi was an integral part of their Memorial Cup win, and was a big driver of play. Forwards are only as effective as the D-men they play with. If you've got a D-man who consistently makes accurate tape to tape passes on the fly, it's gonna make the job of a forward a hell of alot easier. I don't think it's a coincidence he was a big part of both championship wins.
  16. I don't know why but I always find it harder to get excited about D-men. D-men are always so much harder to project than forwards, and they obviously take more time to develop. But when a player with Juolevi's skill set and resume is available it makes it alot easier to get excited. This guy moves the puck so well, it will benefit all our forwards that play with him.
  17. Probably won't be part of his game, but if he tops out at 6'3" and 200+ lbs he's not exactly going to get pushed around.
  18. He's 31 now and is gonna cost them 9 mil a season for the next 4 years. I'd rather us acquire and develop a D-man in their prime that will cost a fraction of that. Only real way to do that is through the draft.
  19. If we kept drafting forwards in the first round in about 2 years we'd all be saying "wow look at our forward group we're almost ready to compete. Oh wait, what about a puck moving defenseman? I guess we'll have to trade for one. It's gonna cost us Tkachuk or Boeser and a 1st round pick? Damn" Might us well start developing one now. Once Horvat, Boeser, Virtanen, and Demko are in their prime we're gonna need a number 1 puck mover on our roster.
  20. We didn't have one blue chip D prospect until we drafted Juolevi. Successful teams have these players, we're not going anywhere without drafting one because they're way too expensive to trade for.
  21. It's a no brainer to take a D-man when we have the weakest D prospect pool in the league. I don't know how you can compare a forward to D-man either. Both contribute in completely different ways.
