  1. Umm they clearly photo shopped Michael Jordan's face onto Luongo...
  2. These guys should work for TSN. Sounds like the daily questions they ask about the Leafs. Is it too much to ask for a better quality of sports coverage than the average fan could produce?
  3. Luckily Boeser should get chance next season to capture gold as one of the returning players. Not uncommon for an 18 year old to struggle a bit in their first tournament. Wilson obviously liked something from his game since he kept putting him on the top line.
  4. He deserves a contract. I was mad when they let him go. He brings a swagger to the team that they desperately need.
  5. Neither were big factors. He just wants attention. Schroeder was the all time leading scorer for the Americans at this tournament. What's he up to again?
  6. Okay well you were talking about the 2-1 goal. Boeser had nothing to do with that play. Boeser had a chance to clear on the first goal yes. I'd hardly pin it all on him though.
  7. Lol. You mean the goal where Werenski softly waved at his check and allowed him to drive the net? Yep, definitely Boeser's fault.
  8. And going in and out of the lineup for the likes of Prust and Vey? Unless they've got some trades coming up, I don't think he'll get the ice time he needs right now. He might be better off getting first line minutes and working on his offense at the junior level.
  9. I think they always planned to give him the 9 games and go from there for sure. How strongly they considered sending him down at that point may never be known. But they would have definitely weighed the option of sending him to Calgary or keeping him in Vancouver. The situation has changed now though. The team is not as good as predicted, and injuries have been a problem. Now the concern will be more about the 41 game mark where a year of RFA status will be taken off. I think if they do send him down it will be a similar situation to Draisaitl. His rights will be traded before he's sent down.
  10. No there definitely is truth to it. If you watch Calgary they're not a strong systems team. They were badly exposed in last seasons memorial cup run, even the veterans on the team. I believe it's where some of Virtanen's bad habits come from. It's something management would have had to considered when it came down to sending him back or not. If you think there's no difference in what junior team a player is sent back to you're crazy. Jake would be much better off on a team like Kelowna.
  11. No not at all. The point is the deal only happens if a team trades for his rights. Therefore he would have to contact a team like Kelowna and tell them that they'll send Jake back to junior if they trade for his rights. It has nothing to do with forcing Calgary to make a trade, it has to do with convincing another team to trade for him, with the promise that he'll be sent down. It's not that uncommon.
  12. He already did do it. Mackenzie Stewart's rights were traded right before he was sent down. Same thing was done with Leon Draisaitl. It doesn't make anyone look bad. Why would a team wanna send a young player down if they don't think it's a good fit for them? (good linemates, top ice time, good coaching etc.) It's good for all parties involved. Calgary gets something for a player that wasn't even going to play for them. The team that trades for him gets a 19 year old player that can help them on a Memorial cup run. And the Canucks get the benefit of having Jake on a team that will better help his development. If Virtanen played for the Knights, I honestly think he would have been sent down after his 9 games. I think it really came down to whether sending him back to Calgary specifically was better for his development, rather than it being about playing in junior.
  13. Calgary doesn't have to make the deal. The team trading for his rights will still have to make a good offer. No team is going to trade for his rights unless they know Vancouver is going to send him down. And Vancouver won't send him down unless he's going to a team that will help his development. Therefore they would have to communicate with a team they'd be interested in him going to. If it's a choice of getting a key piece for their playoff run or getting nothing for his rights, Calgary would be dumb not to trade him.
  14. I've seen more than just reporters say it. Fans on here and on other boards were ripping him pretty good yesterday.
  15. It's either get something for his rights or not. They'd be better off getting something for him while they can, because I don't think the Canucks have any intention of sending him back to Calgary.
  16. Glad the coach stuck up for him. Fans in this market are rabid. I can't believe any intelligent hockey fan would blame Virtanen for Canada's loss. Pretty sure if you let in 6 goals in an elimination game, you have more problems than a couple penalties.
  17. He's the Province's target audience.
  18. If they're gonna put a picture of anyone it should be Blackwood. that being said, no one player is to blame for that loss. It was a poorly constructed team full of a bunch players who didn't step up their game.
  19. No, but he can convince another junior team to trade for his rights with the promise that he'll send Jake down. He already did that with Stewart.
  20. I wonder if Benning has looked at making a deal with Kelowna or Vancouver to trade for his rights so that he can be sent down.
  21. It will be alot closer after this season, wait and see. Kane won the Calder and the Conn Smythe, something Crosby has never and will never win. Add up those two and Crosby has 6 more individual awards (being two years older). If Kane picks up the sweep of the Hart, Art Ross, and Lindsay, which if he keeps up the way he's played he will; he'll be within 3. And I don't see him slowing down next season, whereas Crosby is already on a sharp decline. You say it's not close, I say it will be alot closer than you think. Kane's 3 cups (and maybe more) will put him above Crosby when all is said and done.
  22. Anyone who thinks high hockey IQ equals success in the playoffs needs to go watch some playoffs games. The teams that play simple consistent hockey are the ones that have success. That's why Sutter is such a good coach, he keeps it simple. Move the puck up, chip it in, forecheck hard, retrieve puck, crash the net, score garbage goals, repeat. If you can do that consistently in the playoffs you'll have success.
