  1. I never said he makes Calgary a contender. Everyone knows they're in a rebuild. He's 4th on the team in scoring and on pace for a 25 goal season. So yes he is having an impact, the Flames just suck. The Canucks on the other hand are just having a horrible season. If they add a top pick like that to a team that should be much better next season, that player should have a big impact.
  2. We're 3 points up on the 6th overall pick (Carolina), and they have 2 games in hand...
  3. The team is losing on its own. They don't need fans cheering against them for it to happen. This team needs a quick retool. We need a solid pick for that to happen. Just look at how quickly a player like Monahan made an impact for Calgary.
  4. The morons are the ones that think we can still make the playoffs. 5 points back of two teams that have games in hand. It ain't happening people.
  5. I would rather see if we can pry the 1st overall away from Buffalo and take Reinhart. 6th overall Shinkaruk Schroeder For 1st overall Reinhart Horvat Gaunce
  6. It's pretty much over now if Phoenix wins. We're not catching two teams 5 points ahead of us with games in hand. Lets hope we can get the 6th and win the lottery with a 6.2% chance.
  7. The Canucks held them to no shots until halfway through the third and then get scored on the Caps first shot of the period. Isn't that just the story of the Canucks this season? I've never seen a team catch so many bad breaks.
  8. Good effort to tie it up, but again they can't come up with any sort of clutch play.
  9. He leads the league in penalty minutes. Find the examples yourself.
  10. Sestito again. Only an idiot would play this guy more than 30 seconds a game. Seriously the guy costs us every game.
  11. Oh right, I forgot. Sestito's penalties are never his fault, it's a reffing conspiracy. There ya go, the goon costs us another one with a dumb play.
  12. You're telling me we don't have any better options than this gorilla on skates?
  13. It means that if there is doubt in the refs mind, that we don't get the benefit of it. That's what guys like Burrows and Kesler have done for this team. They're both on referee lists for known embellishers. The only way they get calls now is if they're blatant, like we saw tonight.
  14. Pretty sure the Canucks got away with a few there too. Either way, this is what they get for being a team that embellished for the last few seasons.
  15. Again, you're making it sound like I'm cheering against them. That couldn't be farther from the truth. Every win I'm happy, every loss I'm happy. That's the only way I can stay sane through a season that has been among our worst in franchise history.
  16. The team is already tanking regardless of what I do. I'm not one of those fans that thinks they can control what a team does based on their mindset. I'm associating myself with it because I believe it's the most rational way of thinking based on where the team is currently at. I've cheered for this team to make the playoffs before despite all odds, only to see us get average pick after average pick. Meanwhile other teams who weren't much worse than us continued to get better because they drafted high and built a contender.
  17. The players playing hard has nothing to do with me or what I want for my team. Two completely different things. They've played hard most of the season, but it's not translating to wins. Mostly because they have too many holes in the roster that need to be filled. Getting a good pick is a good way to start filling those holes. And it doesn't matter what you or I believe. Results are all that matters.
  18. I never cheer against my team. I'm very happy that they won tonight. It's not like I sit here and hope the other team scores on us. But at the same time, I'm looking at the positive side if we do lose. A high draft pick is a great way for this team to retool quickly. You don't think adding a player like Galchenyuk to our roster would help? It sure seems to have helped Montreal bounce back.
  19. 3 of those top 5 picks have cups, and they're all stars. That's 100% odds. You've picked out 5 random picks from later in the draft, proving that the odds are much lower. Anywhere from 20-30th is much more of a crap shoot.
  20. Then you're passion for winning is blinding you to the bigger picture. You may want this team to win one game, but I want them to win the cup. That's the difference. If you can sit there and honestly tell me that this team has the makings of a cup winner, I'd call you a liar. And if there's no cup in the cards for the team this yea, then I want us to improve our future chances at one, even if it is a small improvement to them, like a slightly better pick.
  21. Obviously there's busts. But the odds are much much higher that you get a superstar in the top 10 than at any other spot.
  22. Of course they're gonna try, but lets face it the odds are very against them They're 4 back of Dallas and Dallas has 3 games in hand. The Canucks basically have to go 12 and 2 to make it. If they had held on to their 3 goal lead or even beaten Dallas in a pivotal game they would have a much better shot. Unfortunately they've just dropped the ball too many times.
  23. Us "Tankers" know history, and know that making the playoffs and getting swept or just missing does this team no good. All it equals is a poor pick. We're not talking about 2-4 spots, we're talking about a potential top 5 pick. In any draft that has the potential to be a franchise player. That's what this team needs more than anything right now.
