  1. The guy has a pretty calm demeanor and knows how to bounce back after bad games (see Dallas). Dumb penalties and poor coverage cost us big time in this one.
  2. Well that's it for me. I tried to keep my belief with this team alive, but I can't do it anymore. It takes too much. A team that can't protect a 3 goal lead in the third period when 2 crucial points are on the line, doesn't deserve to make the playoffs.
  3. So is he hinting that we'll be playing all of those players next season in order to compete for a lottery pick? Surprised he listed Fox in that group. I mean yea he's tearing up the OHL, but he is an overager. History shows he's still a long shot for being an NHLer.
  4. The vision? He sounds like a cult leader. Which makes sense actually because sometimes it feels like Canucks fans have been lured into a cult. We've all been brainwashed! Seriously though, he keeps talking about this long term vision like he actually has a plan. All he's shown over the last 3 years is that he has no idea what to do to get this team back on top. But I guess as long as he keeps dangling this mysterious "vision" in front of people, he gets to keep his job.
  5. Way too premature to be saying that. The mistake was trading away center depth for winger depth, and having no real plan to replace it.
  6. You gotta hope that that is the actual system, and that injuries and overplaying our top players just burned them out. Losing Santorelli was a bigger blow to this team than I think anyone realized. He really was the player that made that second line go. And with a second line they were able to take some pressure off the Sedins and not wear them down. Now we're down to no lines.
  7. Relying on shot blocking means you're spending more time in your own zone and risking injury. Puck possession and winning board battles is the only system that should be taught. The Canucks seem way too comfortable giving up the puck, and retreating into their own zone.
  8. As an assistant to help our young players that were supposed to be on the team according to Gillis. Ruff was my choice because he was the decorated veteran that knows how to handle older players. He is the type of coach this team needed IMO. I also wanted Crawford to run offense if he was willing to come back. Ruff, Robinson, and Crawford would have been a dream team. Unfortunately ownership wanted to hire a ringmaster for the circus they were creating.
  9. There's a middle ground between not talking to your players and berating them non stop. Tortorella seems to have done what I was worried he was going to do, which is to come in with guns blazing. Biggest mistake a coach can make. You've gotta earn respect from your players if you expect to receive it. These guys don't know him well enough and haven't been through enough with him to get called out like they are. He lost the room, plain and simple.
  10. Are we going through a youth movement though? Seems to me we have alot of vets signed to long term deals with no trade clauses.
  11. Lindy Ruff was my choice. Knows how to handle a veteran team without berating and belittling them.
  12. Edler standing and watching. He's really gotta keep his feet moving.
  13. Now suddenly they can move the puck? Amazing what playing with the lead, and 10% more effort can do.
  14. Momentum has gotta start somewhere.
  15. We`ve got some good pieces on this team going forward in Matthias and Archi. Big bodies that will go to the net. Just gotta fill all the holes.
  16. That is what Matthias brings
  17. Wow finally some entertainment!
  18. Not to mention he'll be a UFA after next season. Maybe he'll come back here if Gillis is canned.
  19. Every player in the NHL has had to deal with a demotion at some point. If Jensen's confidence is so fragile that he can't handle a demotion, he wouldn't last very long in the NHL.
  20. Unbelievable that fans are complaining about our goaltending and a rookie right now. Would we be able to score more than a goal a game if we had Schneider or Luongo in net? Lack has done everything you can ask of a goalie. And if people thought Jensen was going to solve all of our scoring problems, then I don't know what to say. Apparently you can judge how good a player is after 40 minutes of hockey. Some amazing hockey analysts on here, I think we may have some future scouts among us.
  21. Except he's already a starter. Better stats than Lu too.
  22. The kids nervous and has a poor coach. Watch him in the AHL and you'll realize he thinks the game well. I wouldn't judge him on this game considering the situation this team is in. Even a former Hart winner looks like a junior player right now.
