  1. When people show me respect, I show them respect back. When they don't, I'll treat them in the same manner. This is not respect: All I wanna do on here is talk hockey. Not argue like school kids. Sorry if I let you down.
  2. And Lu didn't look shaky against Chicago the previous two years? The warning signs were there with Lu too. Just saying, I hope the franchise learned it's lesson with long term deals. They may seem great at first, but more often than not they come back to bite you. And the gain usually doesn't equal the cost.
  3. Says the guy that has 5500 posts and has been on here 2 years longer... Way to insult many other members on here too.
  4. I'm not talking in hindsight. I'm talking about when it was signed it sucked, and many people on here agreed. Regardless of the CBA, signing a player to 12 years for that much money is always risky, especially for a player of Lu's age. It's always gonna be reward now and worry about it later. And later has basically come now. We were rewarded with one Stanley Cup run, but who knows how many we might have had with Schneider. He may have been good enough in 2010-2011 with the dominant team we had, and an extra 4 mil in cap space.
  5. Amazing how Lu's contract is now considered a good one, when at the time alot of people on here predicted this exact scenario playing out where we would get stuck with Lu. Yes, we gained a mil or two in cap space in order to help us make a run for one season, but at what cost? To get stuck with Luongo for the next 3 years as our backup, and have to give up our younger better goalie that we developed for 8 years? And we're not even out of the woods yet. We're still on the hook for 800k for 4 years, and possibly more if Lu retires early. So again I say short term greed of wanting to get Lu locked in at all costs, is hurting us in the long run.
  6. No, when every post starts out with an insult, it's not critique. It's as if I've offended him somehow when all I'm doing is discussing my point of view. I don't mind people disagreeing with me, but calling me ignorant, and bringing up my post count when I have a different point of view is not the way to have a discussion.
  7. Right I'm sure a poster just happened to jump in and start attacking my posts in the same manner as you were.
  8. He was recently named player of the month in the AHL. I would say he is doing alright.
  9. Wow what do you have dual accounts? Just sad.
  10. Probably a mix of wanting to develop him more, plus taking away his bargaining power when it came time to re-sign him. Kind of like we did with Schneider. No point of having him on the team if they're not close to being a playoff team. It would have just driven up his value.
  11. Like signing Luongo to a 12 year contract? Greed of wanting Luongo signed led to that ridiculous contract. That definitely didn't lead to long term success.
  12. Did Farhan tell you that? There were also reports that it was Sutter, Pouliot, and a 1st. It's all which insiders you believe. It makes no sense to not be buyers or sellers. Looks to me like we're just staying right in the middle again.
  13. Aquilini wants more money just like any greedy owner. If you think that he`s any different, think again. Making the playoffs this year won`t hurt our chances at rebuilding now. A 15th or a 20th pick doesn`t really make a huge difference in the scheme of things. A Kesler trade in the summer will be the starting point for a rebuild. And I`ve got a feeling it will be made by a new GM.
  14. Who are you? Nope, nevermind don't care. These guys know more than you or I. I wouldn't be surprised if there is truth to ownership stepping in and nixing a trade. Gillis's time has come to an end here. He's done nothing to improve this team in 3 years. As for getting a scoring winger, it would absolutely help. Right now we`re playing Higgins and Hansen as top 6 wingers.
  15. This team is losing games because they can't score goals. Adding a goal scorer would help us win and increase our chances of making the playoffs. I'm not saying I would do this, but if the the Aquilini's are in fact running things, then this would be a move to make.
  16. You think the Aquilini's care if we give up draft picks for a player if it gets us in the playoffs? Even two playoff games equals millions of dollars for them. I have a feeling Gillis isn't calling the shots anymore.
  17. Not if your goal is to make the playoffs and make money. Gaborik for a couple picks is nothing.
  18. What I don't understand is, if the Aquilini's don't wanna throw in the towel because they want playoff revenue, then why didn't we pick up any players at the deadline? We did just free up cap space with the Lu trade. Right now one more goal scorer would make the difference for this team since we seem to be mostly losing by 1 goal.
  19. Not to mention Tyler Seguin for Loui Eriksson. Paying back their debt for winning the cup maybe?
  20. Schneider had a .896 SV% and a 3.60 GAA in his first 10 NHL games at age 24. And he had a much better team in front of him. Markstrom is still on a good development curve. Not sure why people would put higher expectations on him than Schneider.
  21. Where did Schneider go wrong in his development? He didn't enter the NHL till he was 24. Some goalies just take longer. Florida was being very safe with his development because they saw him as their franchise goalie. Obviously with new ownership willing to spend money, they wanted to go with a big name starter like Luongo.
  22. Why would Kesler wanna stay with a team that's shopping him anyways?
  23. Shows how little Shero thinks of Gillis if he thinks he could get Kesler for that package. Time to get a GM that has some respect around the league. We'll see who becomes available in the summer.
