  1. I said that Kesler never asked for a trade, and I still believe he didn't. The Canucks are the ones dangling him IMO.
  2. We have enough good third liners coming up in the system in Horvat, Gaunce, and possibly Lain. What we don't have in the system is that high end offensive center. If we don't get that as part of a package, we're gonna have a major hole going forward. Unless we can get one in an Edler trade.
  3. If he was Shero's puppet I doubt he would be saying that Shero will top any offer. He's making him sound like he'll do anything to get him.
  4. Yea, they may be interested but the Canucks wouldn't likely wanna deal with them. No point making Chicago even stronger if we plan on being a contender again at some point.
  5. Unfortunately a good third liner is not gonna replace Kesler. We nee a young center 20-25 who has the potential to be a 1st liner some day.
  6. I really don't see us dealing with the Blackhawks. I see it as a two horse race with Philly and Pittsburgh. With New York possibly being the dark horse. Sounds like Pittsburgh is pretty serious though. Gillis better be playing poker right now because he needs to do everything he can to hit a homerun.
  7. Why not? He can thank AV for becoming the player he is. A player like him thrives in an AV system.
  8. I could see Sather swooping in late and making a big pitch cause that's what Sather does. Something like: Stepan or Kreider +Haeglin, J.Moore, and a 1st round pick
  9. I wouldn't trust the Province as a source. But I would have guessed Kesler wouldn't go to Columbus regardless. And I don't think it has anything to do with Umberger, it has to do with wanting to win.
  10. Why cause he looks like him? That's about the only similarity. Booth can't shoot or make plays. The only thing he's good at is driving the net. Bennett has hands and can snipe.
  11. Similar but better defensively. Plus he's farther along in his development. We need more offensively gifted players like him. I don't think people aren't fond of Jensen. They were just disappointed he started off so slow this season. Since he has gone on his goal scoring tear, people have done nothing but rave about him. We would also have two players named Bo/Beau
  12. With Laughton coming up they can easily afford to trade Schenn. Especially since he's an RFA after this season. Giroux Kesler Couturier Laughton Much better.
  13. I think we can squeeze Bennett out of them by Wednesday. Especially if other teams get more aggressive.
  14. Gotta get Philly into the mix more. Not really hearing a whole lot about them.
  15. The D we have on the Canucks is fine. Although we lack a real puckmover. I'm talking more about the future though. As far as our D prospects go, there doesn't appear to be a whole lot of high end talent. Hutton and McNally could be good, but it's pretty hard to gauge at this point.
  16. Our D is not fine. We lack puck moving D-men and our offense is suffering because of it. Corrado and Hutton are a long ways away from being top defenders. Pouliot and Harrington should be NHL ready in a year or two. Bennett is not making an impact right now. He's still developing. Guys like Jensen and Shinkaruk will likely be on his level by next season. If we're going for forward depth it's for a center or nothing IMO.
  17. Which is why they're called prospects. Lain, Kassian, and Archibald have all shown that they can play at the next level. Shinkaruk, Jensen, and Horvat all have high end talent that if developed properly should translate into top 6 players. And between Cassels, Gaunce, and Grenier there's at least one solid bottom 6 player there. This is the best batch of prospects this organization has ever had.
  18. Maata is a much safer player who makes calm decisions under pressure. That's why he's able to play in the NHL at a younger age. Pouliot takes more chances but has a much higher reward factor. Players like him usually take a little longer to develop because they have to spend time learning when to be aggressive and when not to be.
  19. Definitely. If this guy was in our system people would be drooling over him. Trust me, he's gonna be a stud, and fans will whine that we didn't take him while we could. Our forward pool is starting to look pretty decent. Horvat, Kassian, Jensen, Shinkaruk, Gaunce, Cassels, Lain, Grenier and Archibald are all solid young players that will fill top 6 and bottom 6 positions. We just need that top offensive centerman and we're good. We need to start shoring up our D though. Counting on Subban to be our elite puck moving D-man might be a bit hopeful.
  20. I'd rather have Brayden Schenn than Bennett. Maybe we can accomplish both in two separate deals. Philly does need a top D-man.
  21. Maybe we should just stack up on D and ask for Pouliot and Harrington. Those two together could be an absolute stud pairing. Pouliot, Harrington, Sutter, and a 1st. We don't get our top center, but maybe that could be accomplished in an Edler trade.
  22. In the end I see us taking Philly's offer if they make one. Even if it's slightly less. Pittsburgh just doesn't have the pieces we need. Sutter will never replace Kesler on the second line. Schenn on the other hand is only getting better. Add him to a prospect like Laughton or Morin, and a higher first round pick and it's a much better deal.
