This is the game that the Sedins bump the slump. I'll bump this later.

Of course it would be easy to confuse. Especially if the person filming were intoxicated and/or wasn't sure what was going on. I've been in many fights with my friends that anyone who didn't know us would think was real. People also like to build up small things into something big, especially when celebrities are involved. It could have been a harmless scuffle. And even if it was real, so what? Boys will be boys, and I'm sure they've already moved past it. It definitely shouldn't have anything to do with why Kesler should be traded. Van fans need to learn how to see through sh*t, and stop trying to shovel more on top of stuff like this.

Insulting me by speculating my age? You've already lost any credibility. If you've followed sports for more than a season you would know rumors like this are leaked all the time that have no basis. Negotiating through the media is not something I made up, so you're really not shooting me down. It's already common knowledge. By floating out a perceived value for a player, it lessens what every other team is willing to offer. And Dreger reported full conversations Nonis had with Gillis including the exact time they took place. Either Nonis gave him that information or Gillis did. Something tells me it wasn't Gillis though. Nice little speech, but unfortunately it's a bunch of drivel.

It has nothing to do with the public, it has to do with the rest of the league. Managers speaking through the media is nothing new. Burke does it all the time. Welcome to the business of sport. As for Nonis and Dreger, they're cousins in case you didn't know. Do you think it's a coincidence that Dreger has all the inside scoops when it comes to the Leafs? It's very likely Nonis spoon fed Dreger that whole story about the Canucks basically begging Toronto to take Lu for two second round picks. Don't be so gullible.

Exactly. Glad someone understands how the game is played. The Leafs have already shown that they can use Dreger and TSN to try and manipulate trades and player values. Of course other GMs use the same tactics to try and strengthen their position. It's a cutthroat business. I wouldn't be surprised if management from another team leaked this false rumor out to try and throw some gas on the situation.

So choosing to believe a so called "insider" that most of us have likely never heard of makes more sense than believing sources directly involved in the situation? I know people get all excited about the possibilities of a trade, but it's important to keep to facts. People are falling for the same crap that has made Eklund famous (infamous).

To get hits? To get followers? To get their names out there? These guys are not much better than Eklund. I don't understand why you'd choose to believe guys that nobody has ever heard of over Gillis, Kesler, and his agent. Welcome to the twitter world. One person starts something and it spirals into a giant ball of lies. It isn't the first time, and most certainly won't be the last.

Wow, fans continue to fall for TSN's rumor mongering... Did you not learn from the whole Luongo saga that TSN will make up crap to sell their product. Like seriously. Of course they're going to try and keep this rumor alive until deadline day. Gotta drum up interest for their biggest show of the year.

Different teams and different situations. All I'm saying is this is his breakout year. He's been playing very well despite having average numbers. St.Louis tends to role all four lines, so it's not like he gets the 20+ minutes of ice time that Kesler got. If we're using the Richards trade as a comparison, I think this trade is closer to the value we would see than alot of the other ones being proposed. Which is why I think we're better off holding onto Kesler.

Berglund is also a huge body that can match up against guys like Thornton, Getlzaf and Kopitar. He's also only 25 and still hasn't broken out yet, much like Kesler at the same age. Rattie would likely be our second best prospect behind Horvat. Funny how people say these guys are too small until they come into the league and start ripping it up, then everyone drools over them. Ever heard of Nyquist? Same size as Rattie.

Berglund is not a third line center. He pretty much plays the same role as Kesler for the Blues. Not to mention he's only 25. Rattie has a ton of offensive upside. He may be smaller at 6'0" but he brings offense, which we need. It would most likely be a 20-30th pick, which is all we're going to get if we trade Kesler to a contender. People that think we're getting Drouin or Mackinnon or anyone ridiculous like that can keep dreaming.
