  1. Fair enough. But on that same note, "insiders" have proven time and time again to be liars, and their speculations have been proven valueless. This is not the first time, and certainly won't be the last time that rumors have been started that lead to absolutely nothing. Wasn't TVA sports the same station that said Perry was going to be traded?
  2. So now in order to believe it you're just going to write off Gillis' and Overhardt's statement that he never asked for a trade? That seems logical. If I were to speculate, I would say Gillis is listening to offers on all his players right now, and he won't confirm or deny any rumors right now because he wants to keep interest alive for these guys. This is just Gillis being a good GM. No point showing all your cards until you have to. If this rumor creates significant interest from a team and ends up leading to a great offer, great. If not, it means nothing.
  3. One is a quote from Gillis, the other is her belief on the situation. Big difference.
  4. Who the hell is Jason Botchford is more like it. You think Gillis would give this guy anything after the filth he's written about this team? Yea right. If fans wanna believe it go ahead. Where there's smoke, there's a 50% chance of fire in the sports media rumor mill actually. The problem is fans have short term memories and forget about all the rumors that never come true.
  5. Or maybe Gillis already made a statement and doesn't want to deal with every reporter wanting a quote. That or he doesn't mind the frenzy this will create from other GMs because he is willing to listen to offers. Either way, anyone that believes Botchford after the BS this guy has spewed needs to get their head checked. This guy has less sources in the industry than Eklund. He's a hack that works for a second rate newspaper.
  6. Or fans just wanna keep this alive so they can imagine all the young talent we can somehow get. That's fine, it is the trade deadline in a week. But lets focus on the facts here. Both sides have denied a trade. All people are basing this on is hearsay about something Kesler may or may not have said while in Russia.
  7. Actually he did: Fans just choose to ignore this because it kills all of their proposal fantasies.
  8. The media has a big story of someone who's supposedly going to be traded every trade deadline. And every trade deadline fans are gullible enough to believe it. I suppose everyone on here will be up at 5 in the morning watching TSN on deadline day?
  9. Twitter is probably the worst thing to happen to sports. People need to stop believing everything they read. And FYI, TSN speculates more than they provide real facts just so you know.
  10. We better hope Gillis doesn't trade Kesler. He has shown that he doesn't know how to get max value for his assets. If there is a Kesler trade, it's better if it's done by a new GM.
  11. No...They traded Schneider because no one would offer anything for Lu and ownership wasn't gonna buy him out. You must have missed that. Just like the MacLean and Brown rumor, there's no truth to it. Just a bunch of sad fans making up BS to pretend they have some sort of inside information on the team.
  12. I love how "reporting" stories nowadays involves posing a question without having to prove any sort of credibility or provide a source. Everyone is taking notes from Fox News apparently. And TSN strikes yet again. Now that they throw this out there, every "insider" wannabe is trying to put their own spin on it. Just what the Canucks need during their stretch drive is more distractions. TSN employs a bunch of unprofessional, eastern biased goofballs.
  13. Didn't someone just post something about Dreger saying Kesler and his family wanting out? Not saying that's 100% true, but I can see guys like Kes and Lu jumping ship now that this team is no longer competitive.
  14. It's not hindsight if you call it before it happens. I said that Torts would come in with an iron fist like Keenan, and the players would all quit on him. Looks like that's what's happening. Who knows, maybe this is what ownership wanted because they knew it was time for a rebuild. That's why they wanted Torts so bad. Let him be the bad guy that drives the core players out. If that was their plan, it seems to be in full effect.
  15. The Torts era is the Keenan years all over again... Called it from the beginning.
  16. Having Kesler behind Crosby in a top 6 that features Malkin, Kunitz, and Neal? I think Pittsburgh would risk it.
  17. Not sold on Sutter at all. Average player from a weak draft year. Change Sutter to Bennett and Depres to Pouliot or Harrington and I like it.
  18. Detroit is the perfect trading partner. They have good young assets that we could use and already have an interest in Edler. I'm betting they would also have quite a bit of interest in Kesler with Zetterberg being out, and Kesler being a hometown boy. Both would likely waive for Detroit too, with Edler having the Swedish connection and Kesler being from Michigan.
  19. Team Sweden in 2006 certainly would have had a chance. Team Sweden without Hank, Zetterberg, Backstrom, and Franzen definitely didn't.
  20. Wow, first Forsberg whines about a reffing conspiracy, now Sweden's GM is claiming an IOC conspiracy to take Backstrom out. I never took Swedish players as whiners, but this isn't doing them any favors.
  21. So you take Crosby, Toews, and Getzlaf off the team, who becomes your top 3 centers? No matter who you pick the team is not nearly the same. In Sweden's case they lost Zetterberg and Backstrom in tournament so replacements had to come from players that were already there. That means in Canada's case they would have to replace Toews and Getzlaf with Bergeron and Duchene. Kind of a drop off in talent level. Sweden's game also revolves around puck control, which is hard to execute when you don't even have a center to take a draw. They were using Daniel Sedin on draws, that's how depleted they were. Lets face it, they didn't really put up much of a fight today. Finland would have been a much tougher opponent.
  22. Again, losing 3 top centers, two of them in tournament, is much different. Sure Canada has alot more depth, but take away their top 3 centers and it would be pretty devastating. All I'm trying to say is fans shouldn't get too cocky. We beat a team that was pretty fortunate to be there IMO.
  23. Canada didn't have Giroux cause he didn't make the team. Not really the same. They had St.Louis instead who was the NHL points leader last season. Sweden lost two of it's top 3 centers during the tournament and weren't able to replace them. The only player Canada had to replace in tournament was Tavares, who was playing on the fourth line. Either way, taking 3 centers off of a team is much more devastating as it took away all the creativity from the team, which is a huge part of Sweden's game. I'm a little disappointed we didn't get to face a more competitive team Sweden.
  24. Exactly. You think Marty's gold in 2010 is any less special to him?
