He clearly had his mind made up before the tournament, and barring Price having an awful game, it was gonna be him.
I accept that, but it doesn't mean I have to agree with it.
IMO both goalies give them a fairly equal opportunity to win. And if neither goalie outplayed the other in the first few games, I would go with history, and play the guy that won it for you before.
What these guys did up until the start of the Olympics shouldn't have been a huge factor. Thinking that Luongo was gonna keep playing poorly forever based on his history is silly. The whole team was struggling. In Lu's game he looked confident and calm, and the team looked more relaxed in front of him.
Price has won at the international level in juniors, but beyond that he's fairly new to this kind of pressure. I hope I'm wrong and Price has a strong tournament, but if it was my choice I would go with the vet that has dealt with pressure his whole career.
