Career crippling? The guy's playing in the NHL right now. What are you doing?

[GDT] Canada vs Finland, preliminary round game 3
DeNiro replied to goalie13's topic in Off-Topic General
Source or BS. Anyone ever think that they're already confident in what Lu can bring, and they wanted to get another look at Price before they make their decision? It very well could be Price, but I don't think they've made their final decision yet. -
He's a center and more of a setup guy. He had 3 assists tonight, I think he's doing fine.
-
You'd make a good NHL ref. Gaunce clearly kicks one of the goalies feet out.
-
Looks like Gaunce has a little Dustin Brown in him.
-
Umm Mantha is their best prospect FYI. He made the rest of team Canada look like boys in the tournament, and is destroying the Q right now. He's looking like he's going to be a stud number 1 center ala Getzlaf. And it's arguable that Kesler is worth as much as Ryan was. Ryan was younger and a former 2nd overall pick who hadn't reached his peak. While Kesler will be turning 30 this year and appears to be declining.

Vancouver does have a need that Edler is supposed to be filling but he's not. That's the only reason why we would even trade him. Is Detroit going to gamble giving up their best prospect for a player that looks like he already peaked? Hank and Kes are getting older just like Datsyuk. And Gaunce is not on the same level as Horvat. That would be a big blow to the Canucks future to give up Horvat, just like giving up Mantha would be.
-
Who thought Nichushkin was an obvious pick? Clearly Carolina, Calgary, Edmonton, or Buffalo didn't. Why? Because they had different needs, just like the Canucks did. The Canucks needed a top center to replace one of their two aging centers.

London does not seem like a very good defensive team. That's why they really lean on Bo for his defensive zone play. We saw what happens when the Knights go up against a deep offensive team like Eerie. They're gonna need to tighten things up if they wanna win a memorial cup.
-
It seems like they're done now, but I bet they bounce back down the stretch. They're the hardest working players on the team. I think Henrik will drag his brother out of their slumps and heat up in the final 20 games.
-
Yea, and then we could have signed all of those awesome free agents like David Clarkson or Ryan Clowe....Oh wait..

The team needed to start the retool in 2008 with their top 10 pick. Unfortunately they made a mess of that whole situation. If they had done things right this team would still be competitive now having great depth down the middle, and possibly another young D-man to step in and replace Edler. The whole Hodgson debacle really set this team back. This team really needed someone like Jensen, Horvat, or Shinkaruk to step in and make an impact, kind of like Hertl did in San Jose or Saad in Chicago. That's how good teams stay good.

We're not dumping the Sedins, give your heads a shake. If this team is in fact going to rebuild in the offseason, the Sedins will be part of it. Edler and Luongo will likely be the ones to go. You need veteran guys to mentor the young players otherwise you end up like the Oilers.
-
Hopefully playing with someone other than Henrik at the Olympics will spark Daniel. He's become way too predictable this season, and his shot has almost disappeared. If I had to guess I would say he has a lingering wrist injury.

A team doesn't go from a President's trophy winning team to the Oilers in a matter of 2 years. The coach has gotta get more out of these guys. You don't just trade away the entire team because the coach can't get through to them. They've shown they can win and be dominant. It's up to the coach to get them back on track and find that consistency again. I'm hoping that it's just a matter of injuries putting more pressure on our guys and wearing them out because they had to play alot more minutes. The Sedins and Hamhuis were being played way too much early on. They could all use breaks. We'll see after the break who this team really is.
