  1. So first this team is too soft for the playoffs. But people want Ehrhoff and Salo over Ballard and Garrison? You can't have it both ways. Points aren't everything from the D, they need to be able to play defense first and foremost. And I would say the fact that we're top 3 in GAA, we're doing pretty good. This team always goes through it's begining of the season struggles on D until they finally settle in. It happens every year. What was the one constant on our powerplay with Salo and Ehrhoff? It was Kesler up front on the powerplay screening the goalie. Don't underestimate that aspect of our production on the PP.
  2. I can't believe how many times posters on here continue to make snap judgements only to be proven wrong. You wait for one bad game to say "I told you so". And then as soon as Garrison starts producing on the PP, you'll just disappear, and find another player to rag on.
  3. Except he scored pretty much all of his goals in the first half of last season, and didn't score any in the second half. So he has shown he is a player that gets his goals in giant bunches. If his scoring comes in the second half, who cares? It's about how you finish not how you start.
  4. Has any team struggled to find consistent D-pairings in the past 4 or 5 years more than the Canucks? Even with guys like Ohlund, Salo, Mitchell, and Ehrhoff, this team constantly melted down on D at times, especially in the playoffs. Guess who's responsible for the D? Bowness. The only reason he's the assistant coach is because he comes as a package deal with AV. The only consistent pair he's managed to form is Ballard and Tanev.
  5. I wouldn't rule it completely, but he would have to do alot of work over the summer. I think the Canucks would want him to play for the Bulls again since they'll likely have another great chance for a Memorial Cup.
  6. How do you know the better choice would have been Samuelsson? Neither of them have played in the NHL yet. All things are still equal. As for Gaunce being the third line center next year, that's way too soon. The guy is still a fairly raw talent. He'll most likely spend another season in the OHL, and then maybe a season or two on the farm team. So he's likely at least 3 years away.

In hindsight, it may have been better for him to stay over in Sweden until he was more physically developed. He's much too small right now to handle the punishing play of the AHL. He may have benefited more from developing his strength and skill in a league that focuses more on skill. Oh well, hopefully he can still develop into an NHLer one day. He has the skillset, he just needs to add some strength and confidence to his game.
  8. We shouldn't act like Edler, Bieksa, or even Hamhuis haven't made brutal plays like that. It's one mistake, just move on.
  9. Thanks for this thread. Now he'll score next game.
  10. Similar in the fact that he always makes nice crisp tape to tape passes, and always has his head up looking to make a play. Kane obviously has elite dangling abilties though. He likes to toy with defenders before he makes his passes.
  11. I hope we get to see him use his wrister next game. He's got a deadly accurate shot. The only problem is he's a pass first player. If he gets a little bit more comfortable next game, look for him to cut in from the half wall and wire one.
  12. Kind of what I figured. I wonder if he has even left Vancouver yet. AV did say they're not going to carry 3 extra D-men today. So I would imagine they make a decision on one of them tomorrow.
  13. Oh sorry, nevermind. Someone else said he was a +5 in the game. Responded to the wrong post.
  14. The game stat sheet on the OHL website says he was a +6. Where are you looking?
  15. Make that a +6. He has 9 points in his last 4 games.
  16. That was an NHL calibre pass right there. Wow. Gaunce has really been beasting lately. Looks like the addition of Graovac has really sparked him.
  17. Nice goal by Gaunce. Shot right through the D-man's check and scored. Belleville are really showing that they're a Memorial Cup contender here. They look superior to the Ice Dogs in almost every way.
  18. Sick PKing by Gaunce on the full 2 minute 5 on 3. You can tell his coach trusts him in every situation.
  19. Good. Schroeder's playmaking abilities are likely to shine through on the powerplay. How did the first powerplay unit look?
  20. Another goal for McEneny tonigth so far. He has really turned it up in the last little while. He has 5 points in his last 6 games.
  21. Gaunce's Bulls up 6-2 yet he has yet to register a point. Little bit disappointing. Looks like their addition of Quine is paying off so far though. He has a 1 goal and 3 assists after 2 periods.
  22. McEneny with the game tying goal in the Rangers 3-2 shootout loss. No points for Corrado.
  23. The Wolves website would have his most recent weight and height. It was likely taken at the beginning of this season. They have him listed at 5'9" and 179 lbs. http://www.chicagowo...om/team/roster#
  24. Was he traded to the Rangers?
  25. I think they could take a run at it this year. Especially if Subban maintains his form. They've also got guys like Graovac, Brassard, and Cramarossa, who are great young players. Gaunce ended the night with 4 points by the way. 2 goals and 2 assists in his teams 6-2 win.
