He's not a poor man's anyone until he plays in the NHL... I find it hilarious when people try and put a label on a prospect at 20 years old. Don't try and act like you're some sort hockey know it all. Rodin will be exactly the player he is destined to be, don't try and bring him down with stupid predictions about what kind of player he'll be.
  3. Yea good point. He definetly would have benefited with that extra space. I guess it's just a matter of him getting used to having less time and space with the puck. When he does get some room though, you can see the skill pouring out of him. And man does he have a wicked wrister!
  4. I figured NCAA would have prepared Schroeder better because he was used to playing against bigger and older players. So far he seems to be having a tough time, although I do remember him being very streaky for the Gophers too.

I don't think it's hockey smarts, he was ranked highly in that regard. Rodin is just like any young player trying to find his way in the pros. Some players learn how to play consistently at that level sooner than others. It's probably just a matter of him adjusting to playing big minutes and being relied upon for more offence. Hopefully in time he be able to play at that level consistently. But the good thing is that it sounds like he is a versatile player, and although may not be putting big points, he's most likely rounding out other aspects of his game like his defensive play. He is being used on the PK last time I checked.

Looks like Brynas got beaten badly today 7-2. Rodin with a third period assist, but by that point the game as pretty much over. Tomas Greiss in net...He's not a good goaltender. There's a reason why San Jose didn't want him.
  7. Schroeder with some slick moves in the shootout. Looks like him and Sam Gagne get their moves from the same shootout manual. :D He will easily move into our top 3 shooters with moves like that.

Rodin will be better than Jarnkrok, mark my words. SEL points rarely ever equal NHL points.
  9. Schroeder is more of a set up man, so he can only play at the level of his linemates; which in my opinion was not very good. Sweatt has a ton of speed and seems to work hard, but his positioning was pretty poor. Schroeder would look for passes to him, but he was often not open. It's probably just a case of these guys not playing for so long though. Lets wait until Schroeder plays with NHL calibre players like Kesler or Raymond before we make conclusions about where he'll be playing.
  10. Who said Hodgson is starting in the AHL? Man people jump to conclusions too quickly on this site. Yes there has been SPECULATION that he will not be ready for pre-season. But until Gillis or AV comes out and says that, then thats all it is, speculation. There not even done evaluating him, how would they know whether he's ready or not?

Any word on Rodin? Didn't he have another game today?

He's definetly making a push to play on their top line. He's gotta have more points than anyone on the team right? It will be interesting to see where he ends up during the regular season. He obviously is able to play on the first line.

It was pretty obvious that these teams are still in pre-season mode, so the hockey wasn't that great... But a few things I noticed about Rodin: -his size doesn't seem to be an issue -he battles hard for the puck and is actually pretty strong (saw him win a few puck battles) -he knows how to make himself open to his teammates -he's not afraid to make a move to the net (he did it on his first assist) -his passing was pretty good today (made a couple nice no look passes) Brynas looked kind of sluggish and disorganized at times though. They really didn't come on strong until the last period. He was also playing with Jarnkrok and Silfverberg, who I didn't really notice that much. Still mad that he didn't get used in the shootout. I wanted to see what kind of dangles he has up his sleeve.

Rodin had 2 assists today, including an assist with 8 seconds left that tied the game. :D Brynas ended up losing in the shootout and Rodin didn't even get to shoot. I guarantee he would have done better than the first two guys attempts, they were pretty weak.
  15. Shrow-der?...Shrow-der?..IT'S SHRAY-DER! SAY IT RIGHT!!

I would rather Rodin refine his skill game in the SEL where it's not quite as physical. He can always learn the physical side when he comes over in 2011-2012. I'm sure Gillis and Co. told him that he needs to work on getting physically stronger, and adding some weight.
  17. Remember when Lu took a puck off the throat and was in the hospitall all night...He came back and owned the next game. Lets hope Burrows does the same thing!
  18. It looks like the moose went back to their inconsistent ways tonight. They rely on Schneider way too much. He had to make 41 saves tonight, and they only got like 21 shots. The sooner that team gets rid of the old washed up players and starts inserting some young talent, the better off they'll be. Hodgson can't arrive to that team soon enough.

Here's a top 50 list that was done last summer: Top 50 Swedish Players for the 2009 Draft This guy has Rodin rated number 8, and Andersson rated number 25. He had Svedberg rated at number 17, but obviously he didn't get drafted. There's clearly parts of his game that need some work, which would explain going undrafted. I'm sure Andersson would have moved up this guys list after this season though.

What round are they projecting this guy? He's more of a project player isn't he? Could we get him with a 3rd or 4th round pick? We would have to pick up a 3rd round pick first though.

Zdeno Chara anyone? People said the exact same thing about him before he came into the NHL.
  22. Don't you find the defence really suspect? Besides Oberg and Nycholat, who do they have? Salcido is not a very good defenceman... From the games that I've seen, Schneider gets no help in his net. Other teams know that all you have to do is crash the net and the D will collapse.
  23. I don't know what to say about the moose. They're just a very inconsistent team...Until the Canucks get some of their better prospects in there, I dont know if they'll be able to do much in the playoffs (if they make it). Should we even be hoping that Hodgson's team is done early? Or would it be better for him to go on a bit of a run with the Battalion. At this rate, the Moose could be knocked out in the first round considering they most likely will be matched up with Hamilton.

Really? This guy needs to pack on some muscle if he's going to play in the AHL. What is he like 175 lbs?
