  1. That is better, rather not take on Reilly but maybe if we move 1 of Stillman or Dermott at the TDL it might work. I would ask for Frederic or Ryan Mast over Reilly
  2. I get where you are coming from but to look at it another way...watching the games and when they would chant was nice to hear on TV, cause our arena is far too QUIET on most nights regardless of how the team plays. Unfortunately it is an expensive ticket and true hockey fans are not as financially able to attend them on a regular basis compared to a lower tier of hockey where the crowds can be hopping in comparison to the arena. The music it terrible, play the same somes every game and sometimes at the worst time of the game when the team is playing like crap! Hope the fans cheer for Bruce but also start chanting sell the team...Our owner is silent during all this process, get a new ownership group in who has a true passion and direction for the team. Get innovative, I mean they just did a #freetheskate campaign that literally saw the team COPY the FIRE BENNING air plane above the sky but with freetheskate. Get some celebrities into ownership like Reynolds, Buble, Nash and Lions owner Amar Doman and maybe another minority owner and freshen up the organization...it could sure use a revamp from owners on down!
  3. I would only take Kotkeniemi back in trade if JT Miller goes the other way and like you said if after a year or 2 JK isn't working out even as a #3C then we can buy him out and its not a massive cap hit just drags on for a while. But if that is what is needed to trade JT this TDL team should consider it no? Still hoping JT to NYI for Beauvillier plus is something that might happen. For me you trade your Captain you should go full bore and make multiple big changes and build around #40, 43 & 35. But you better be trying to FIX the D in those trades and not take back more wingers or a fringe C prospect as the main piece back. Getting at least 1 additional 2023 1st round pick should be top priority. I wonder if a Kuz and Schenn package to say Carolina might garner a 2023 1st and say Suzuki/Drury? 2 players with sub 1m cap hits should be used as trade bait for the TDL. Canucks if they clear Garland or Boeser could then try to circle back on Kuzmenko on July 1st if he does hit UFA that is
  4. Your probably right, rinse and repeat long term with the same players who have yet to build team chemistry and play a better all around game. Or would it the the Benning that just ran out of time and never even offered Tanev a long time Canuck a contract because he was too inammered trying to trade for OEL then and going back till the bitter end to sign the older goalie in Markstrom... Sucks to see Bo going, but this sure seems like a Keenan/Messier 2.0 with a new regime seemingly backing JT long term to stick with the team vs signing the captain this past off season. Im not in favour of paying Bo for his contract year but a long term deal 7-7.5m for a captain to remain on his team should be fair for both sides...seen other NHL captains sign to remain with their original club that drafted them. Hopefully some big bold trades happen from now till the draft and see if they intend to do MAJOR surgery as the President would say...
  5. Korzcak, a RHD I was hoping we would have drafted as we were thin in that department. But we went with the undersized talented winger Nils Hoglander instead I believe
  6. He is set to represent the Pacific Division is he not? If traded to an eastern team before all star game I assume they will take the next highet voted player from the pacific division via fan voting to replace Bo
  7. I don't think we get that package back but would be happy if it was offered. Thinking Morrow, 2023 1st and Ryan Suzuki/Jack Drury?
  8. Carolina is a team that needs to put their I don't want to overpay at the TDL away and realize the current group they have are NOT going to be together forever! I can see why the Canucks would ask for Necas but would be shocked if Carolina moved him. Maybe, Morrow, Suzuki and a pick? Depends on if its pure rental or sign and trade and I sure hope Canucks ALLOW teams to talk extension if it means the return will be better! We can't keep Bo why are we worried about if he signs longterm...just don't trade him to a division rival then!
  9. Major surgery as JR alluded to should me: Trade everyone they can who has value...As long as the return for Schenn is no higher than a 4th round pick you move him without a doubt. But, if the management group doesn't want to sign Schenn to a new deal at a reasonable amount, something I think Schenn would do to finish his career in Vancouver. Then...you trade him for any return, hopefully the pick will be no higher than a 3rd but an asset is an asset at the end of the day! Just like Kuzmenko, like the player and his energy. If there isn't a reasonable contract they can agree to say 5yr 5m per then I would trade Kuzmenko for the best return at the TDL. Can always circle back to him JUly 1st if he is unsigned and offer him more if we are able to move out a player like Garland or Boeser with whom Kuz would be taking that top 6 slot permanently
  10. Dries has been a nice story but be nice to see someone else given the 3C role, has Karlsson been playing C or W with Abbotsford?
  11. he wore 16 for Canada, are high numbers not allowed for juniors? If Bedard ever became a Canuck I think I would much rather see a verse of 16 due to Linden # retired and Bedard wear #61 over 98...but I could care less if we ended up with Bedard that would be a huge win for the organization
  12. Doesn't JR have some dirt on Carolina from his long tenure as GM...Would be happy to see Bo get dealt to Carolina maybe add Kuzmenko to the deal for a mega haul?
  13. If anyone on this forum can make that happen it would be YOU VintageCanuck! Send them a quick email about all you do for them on this site and ask for them to do that! Unlikely for white skate jersey as that hasn't been in use for a long time. I am hoping for some kind of decal or patch to be worn by the Canucks it would show them knowing their fanbase...Gino was and always will be a beloved former Canuck, I would love to see him go into the ring of Honour but only so much room and Lumme ain't up their either, Edler will be soon (long tenure Canuck but not jersey # retirement worthy, all D records will belong to Hughes before his current contract expires)
  14. Why are we keeping 8 NHL D on the roster? Is GM Alvin afraid to put Stillman on waivers and risk losing him...waive him and save some cash against the cap, every penny counts when it comes to maybe being able to get an asset for taking on some salary on an expiring contract...something I think you will see other bottom feeder teams accomplish but we don't have an abundance of cap room so need to save where possible. Anyways, with the AHL team down the highway we can easily run 7D and if another gets hurt then we call someone up when needed
  15. Can we send JT Miller to Boston for Carlo and Debrusk. We get to guys around the age JR talked about while filling a top 4 RHD spot with Carlo and replacing JT with Debrusk/Garland/Hoglander/Podkolzin/Karlsson
  16. Retooling with Sedins in their mid 30s is not nearly as bad as retooling with Hughes, Pettersson, Demko all significantly under the age of 30...Canucks made a mistake NOT Rebuilding when the Sedins slowed down, they wanted to give them another kick at the can but the team around them had no younger players to take that next leap forward we just had the Sedins and our older core guys from 2011. But again, not surprised after all the losing we have endured to see fans on here or twitter or media personnel all sick and tired of the word Retool...just remember this retool includes us keep most of our elite young players...
  17. Long term the answer is obvious, but for a team wanting to win a Cup...Bergeron has done that and gone to other Cup finals...McDavid hasn't even reach a Cup final yet! It's like back east spewing insane Cup winner odds every year and having the Laffs top 5...yet the Laffs have NOT won a SINGLE playoff series, even the lowly Canucks have managed that in the last few years haha!
  18. Any talk of having some kind of Gino Odjick patch on the jersey or something on the helmet!? I hope the Canucks do something to recognize Odjick and his sad recent passing...Sure could use an Odjick on our team now! Maybe not as the enforcer who fights everyone and anyone but a guy who will stand up for his teammates if someone gets a cheap shot or is hit in a diry way! Unlike how the Canucks have operated for over 10 years by not retaliating especially in a Cup final like the Sedins in 2011...but I digress!
  19. If we trade Bo to Boston I will be disappointed and will NOT be cheering for him to have success this year. If he then signs long term to stay in Boston then that takes it to a different level almost like an FU to Vancouver and I hope he never even reaches a Stanley Cup final again. If we trade Bo to Carolina, a team with some promising assets and a well rounded team who in my opinion needs to be aggressive this TDL to try and get past the Tampa Bay Lightning and Boston in the Eastern Conference and try and make the finals and compete for the Stanley Cup. I could cheer for Bo moving on for that kind of opportunity while hopefully bringing back a nice return trade wise that will hopefully help the Canucks in the near future
  20. Some of them were on the bubble team that saw us beat the defending Stanley Cup champions in round 1 and take Vegas to the absolute edge in a game 7 round 2 season. Last time I checked we still have many of they key players from that team. All of whom are under 30 yrs of age also. Not saying Bo is wrong for wanting to be paid and want to play somewhere with a better chance of playoff success but being a captain puts you out their a bit more even and if choses to walk from players like Demko, Hughes and Pettersson that is his choice. I want a captain who wants to be a Canuck and will sign a reasonable deal to remain a Canuck for the long term while still collect 50m or so on his next deal. By the time Horvat retires he could have a career earnings total pushing 90-100m!!
  21. For Bo to remain a Canuck I agree, but some GM out their will pay Bo 8m on a long term deal especially given his age it just comes down to a team a bit further along thatn Vancouver is with cap space to add Horvat and maybe address other areas of weakeness on said team
  22. Bo just made 33m and is making another killing on his next deal. Be a captain like Landeskog, Stamkos and sign for a bit less if you truly believe in the team you play on and the direction they are headed. It is selfish to command an 8m contract based on his career year contract season when he hasn't consistently been playing at this level compaerd to JT and his continued success he had here before signing his 8m contract
  23. If JT was a legit C who played a good 2 way game he likely would have gotten an even higher contract offer. For his productiion he is paid his worth, thinking a player will transform his game greatly to adjust his attitude or how good of a 2 way player he is at age 30 is very unlikely to happen. Live with JT being a decent playmaker who has helped our PP with other bad contracts the team is stuck with we are in a bad spot financially and are unable to keep the gang together with their LACK of success on the ice as a TEAM.
  24. That would sure get almost ALL Canuck fans excited...we might just have to wait for Bedard to get to UFA status unless Alvin pulls a Brian Burke and make a major trade to acquire 1st overall, not impossible but it would cost us a lot!
