Look at the recent track record of the team. Are we closer to a lotto pick team or a playoff team when you look at recent history. Glass is half full or half empty can be looked at both ways. Until this team hits the ice, shows it can gel, score more and defend better as well as have another solid year of goaltending there are lots of ?'s. I am looking forward to the upcoming season, but 82 games is a long season, so I am not holding my breath either way. Wait and see approach

Ottawa will never be a legit contender. I don't see "incoming depth" like you do. Other than our lotto picks we have 0 prospects showing well in Utica that are ready to push out an overpaid older player on the roster. We should only get better, been enough bad years to watch I sure hope the worst is over.

Yup, GM's trying to save their job or prove to the owner look i spent $ we can make the playoffs now...doesn't work that way anymore with a salary cap in place and no way to remove players from unworthy contracts. NFL has it right by having only so much guaranteed $ the rest based on performance and the player can also get cut with a small part only counting against the cap I think

That is SMRT. Then you dont end up like us who are perennial lotto pick team then have numerous contracts tying up decent $ that is now hindering us sign only 1 of our top players. So yes, I would have been perfectly fine sucking with a Utica roster to have say the cap flexibility of a team like Colorado. We bought a bunch of veteran filler players who all signed for lengthy term instead tho

Exactly, dont waive for an NHL team with their luxury airplanes. Well, go ride the bus through snow storms for 3 years. Honestly that is what I would do, sucks to not get more cap savings but he wont be missed at all. With our recent FA signings our F group is even more crowded and would be a waste to have LE on the Canucks roster going forward.

He doesn't care about icing a half decent team yet he whines about an arena....The 1 tad bit I do agree with him was when they made it to the East finals a few years ago and they still couldn't even sell out. That is quite pathetic in my honest opinion. Still got the Bobby Ryan with some retention for LE deal...

[Report] Eriksson “NOT” likely to be moved on
86Viking replied to Provost's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
because some people remember that when a player who has one gets dealt the new team can choose to honour it. Not a chance in HELL the Canucks decide to honour that for Lucic...maybe if he was a 30g 60pt like in his prime but not now... I am all for adding another big winger to the team in Lucic if we can get EDM to retain or add a nice prospect since he has a longer year on his deal. -

We would have to add to make the deal happen, but would be worth doing. Smith would add some grit into our bottom 6 might fit well on the Beagle line -

a trade with ottawa would be ideal. we take on the higher cap hit in ryan who is owed more actual $. We can add schaller and maybe a sweetener? -

year 49- Don Taylor -
I would be willing to do a deal involving Ryan and LE. Ryan can play wing on the Bo line with JT Miller/Pearson. Ryan could help our PP maybe? He is owed a lot more $ and has a higher cap hit than LE. Same amount of term left, interesting move to consider in a deal if we can send Sven as well then it helps our cap going forward vs say Schaller who only has 1 year left

rather see him in Utica vs taking a roster spot on the Canucks -

saving 1m aint worth sending that bum to europe, just sit his ass in utica for 3 years or try to find a trade. At least Vrbata produced his 1st year with us before sulking this guy cares more about his hair conditioner than playing anywhere close to his massive contract he signed Good Riddance Loui the bum! -

So Chicago defeats the system sending Huet full cap hit saved to europe back in the day then they beat the system when a 1m salary owing Hossa who's cap hit is over 5m apparently has a skin condition from wearing hockey equipment...Got to love the special treatment given to 1 team and an F U given to the Canucks -

Did they make a new clause to prevent this type of move from happening? -
[Signing] Canucks sign Micheal Ferland
86Viking replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Solid choice, remember him from his days as a kelowna rocket. We do need to seriously add some better depth at the C position down in Utica. Should help some of our prospect wingers grow and develop too -

lots of harping on Paterson, any chance he was just trolling and being sarcastic? I don't use the twitter or any social media crap. I get enough of that negativity being on here in all honesty... Good signing, JB needs to now move out some dead weight. Also, keep Brock's deal so he is an RFA at the end or go 7-8 years and eat up some UFA years -
Why would Vegas be threatened by the Canucks...we have been a perennial Lottery team for a while now. But yes they probably prefer an eastern team. Canucks just need a player with high end skill for Bo's wing, Gusev might fit the bill and adding more Russians has to help us try bringing Nikita back which is not a bad thing. Low risk and for the right price he should be interested
-
2020 3rdd round pick and rights to teves. Pick becomes a 2nd if Gusev plays more than 41 games for us next year.

[Rumour] Jesse Puljujarvi requests trade

A deal around Sutter makes sense if we take Lucic back with some retention and get JP back.
