  1. To gave a 1st for 1year of marleau at just over 6m. TO would have to anti up big time for us to take Zaitsev imo, absolutely no interest in helping out the Laffs
  2. 1 down year and people forget he has had how many 20 plus goal seasons...I sure the hell wouldnt mind another guy that plays with grit who has that ability....again at the right price.
  3. after his season i dont see him getting that, or if he does then hard pass. with us getting jt miller I assume JB is going to all he can to make the playofss aka save his job. Simmonds in out top 6 is a solid at at the right price. allows Jake another year to develop and kind of a mentor or watch how simmonds plays also
  4. D are so tough to judge in my opinion. Lots of solid NHL D men were drafted in the 2nd round, I take that chance in my opinion as if he was to pan out so much more valuable to a team. But here is hoping Hoggy is a Zuc/Arvy hybrid!?
  5. the fans and media will eat him up if he plays poor and has a massive contract. Edler at times was a whipping boy and he made 5m, how is a 6-7m year deal for Myers going to make those same people feel...
  6. I think Simmonds is a great RW for the Horvat line. It doesnt seem like Coach Green has the confidence yet to deploy Jake in the top 6. Simmonds had a down year in his contract season which means he shouldn't command crazy term or $. He brings grit and stands up for his teammates...hmm we could sure use that on our team eh!?!? I think we should target him as a RW for the Bo line. He has 6 20g plus season under his belt, maybe a 3yr deal between 4-5m per would be enough? http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=96604 Would be worth making the call on, but I am sure a playoff team is going to try get him on a shorter term lower cap hit kind of deal.
  7. https://www.foxsports.com/nhl/winnipeg-jets-team-stats?season=2018&category=ICE+TIME&time=0 Myers 2 min 30s less a game than trouba and 4min less a game TOI than Buff So by TOI he was their 3rd most deployed RHD. That to me means if he plays the least amount he is sheltered or the bottom pair guy. Regardless, I dont mind us signing him but it cant be more than 6m and longer than 5 years imo
  8. It is bad because that 1st they gave up was Bowen Byram. I understand they got a 1st back, but that pick had the chance of being Hughes...think the NHL did a solid making sure that didnt happen like they do by making sure Vancouver falls back every time
  9. put these 3 D in order of value to the Jets: Myers , Buff, Trouba 1. Buff- dynamic D when he is on and healthy he makes that team go on the back end 2. Trouba- Good solid D that is younger than Myers, no longer with the jets so fingers crossed they try to keep Myers 3. Myers- decent 2nd pair guy, can step up and play a bit more with injuries but slotted him on top pair of the Canucks...I dunno If myers can be had for 6m or less I would be okay with that and the term be 4-6yrs. Otherwise I would rather gauge the cost of C. Miller, Faulk or Risto instead
  10. damn 5'9'' is average height...guess myself and friends I have are just abnormally tall for being males... Hope the kid is a gamer, can he come to Utica next fall or are we likely keeping him in Sweden for next season? I like the idea of having Euro picks come over to adapt to smaller ice and start to gel with future teammates sooner and learn a similar system to what the Canucks use.
  11. I think most who aren't a fan of the 1st have that Ottawa deal for Duchene freshly stuck in their head, I know I kind of do. I mean, yes we have a few nice young piece but we have a poor all around D core, lackluster secondary scoring and a goalie who has had 1 solid season, was that just a fluke or is Marky just a late bloomer? we could make the playoffs next year but if we don't we automatically give up the 1st in 2021. What if Marky has another good year and wants to cash in and Canucks dont bite as they Demko, what is Edler shows his age and tanev is gone and say Myers is a bit of a flop. There are still unknowns going forward. I think the pick should be safe from being a top 15 selection, GM JB is going all in this year and maybe next to ensure we make the playoffs, I am just not sure if he will still be the GM in 2021. Nice guy I am sure, I just haven't like the direction we have been on the past 4-5 years. I am entitled to that opinion, I dont have a crystal ball to say if we did these moves we would be cup contenders by now but as a fan I dont like some of the trades and FA signings he has made and likely will make next week
  12. well is 6yr x6m per with a ntc still not a Brinks truck for a guy that was sheltered on a stacked Winnipeg right side D. I think Myers is a serviceable 2nd pair D but I dont think its wise of us to commit to him unless the contract is no longer than 6yrs and no more than 6m per. That is just my opinion tho. personally, trade for a Colin Miller or Justin faulk and stay the course and not over spend in FA...when does that work out for the Canucks or any team really...
  13. hope jake can pull a 20g 20a season. Just needs to gain Green's trust and work on his shot and how he drives to the net with the puck...that can lead to quite a few of his goals imo. Also being a net front presence on a PP unit would help also
  14. Rather see us trade for Risto then gift Myers a Brinks truck for 7years. But that is another trade where we have to give up assets and after the JT Miller deal I dont know what we have to offer, or at least what most CDC fans will be happy giving up anyway...
  15. Trade Hutton for a pick...too expensive likely to play 3rd pair for us. Benn is a vet, sign him to a short term deal that should carry a reasonable cap hit. Allows OJ to start in Utica, which probably is for the best seeing as he missed all of last year basically
  16. 5ft 9in is average height for a male? I hope he pans out, if he is a hybrid of Zucarello and Arvidsson we are in luck. Passing on a rhd for me is tough tho
  17. I think JT will play the left side with EP. Hoping Jake gets a legit shot to play with Bo and Pearson/Sven, that could be a good 2nd line
  18. Teves, Rafferty, Brisebois, Sautner and Chatfield are at best going to be call ups do to injury as an NHL career in my honest opinion. Hughes is a top 4 for sure, we hope Woo can be that too but its still far too early to suggest that is at all a certainty. So no, I dont feel we have good D depth, especially on the right side, but that is my opinion, you have your opinion. Wingers are way easier to sign and trade for than trying to find a quality steady D especially 1 who is right handed
  19. I didnt mind the Lind selection but yes Hague was an intriguing D who was available. Seems to be developing well, also taken by Vegas...they look like they know what they are doing draft wise when it comes to taken a D when its available
  20. #10 and 12 are retired #s, he briefly wore 47 but that is sven's #. Maybe he chooses #15, the position he was taken in round 1? I think he wore the #11 for the US...god that number should be removed from the Canucks list forever, please dont choose #11...former Ranger and all with the Moose past that would suck! see #11 on a Canuck jersey again...yes bitter from 94' bitter about that horrible signing of him and Keenan
  21. Woo is 2-3 years away, stecher is a fringe #4 solid #5 type D. All the rest of the D you listed are left shot D or long shots to be NHL D. Green likes to play his D on their shooting side, we also saw this with Tryamkin when he was here. I know some lefties can play the right side, but will our coach put them in that spot? Jake was drafted as a LW but has literally never seen that position in the AHL or NHL and likely wont under coach Green. Only player I can think of off the top of my head who does is Leivo, but he is a bottom 6 winger. I just feel that Korczak was the right pick organizationally, just like taking Woo last year was. Can always find a winger with speed or skill a lot easier in College, Europe, UFA or via trade vs trying to acquire a RHD
  22. If we pay myer 6-7m he wont be used anywhere but the top pair, who is better than him on our team...not Stecher and Tanev should be sheltered to 17-20 min a night to hope he can stay healthy so he can be dealt at the deadline. Myers if he signs will be the Edler of the right side, he will play 24-25min night sometimes more when called upon
  23. You make a good point for sure. With Subban tho he only has 3 years left at 9m per and will be what 33 when it ends? Signing Myers will take at least 6 or 7rs at 6-7m per for a player who doesnt have the offensive background like subban as well as being 35-36 when his UFA contract is up. So we got JT Miller and say Myers, I could turn that around and say we could have trade for Subban and signed say Simmonds both players are a bit older but wouldnt have long term contracts for the Canucks. I think JT should fit well with us, I hope someone else lands Myers and we go the trade route for a different RHD who wont have near the term or salary Myers will command. My biggest issue with Myers is he has been sheltered on Winnipeg on a team deep with RHD, He would be our appointed top pair RHD with a massive salary and NTC etc. Is he capable of that kind of pressure...if we sign him only time will tell. It is a risky move, I would hold off on going after Myers personally, ride the wave next year and address the D via trade or FA next summer. If Myers contract demands are reasonable thats a different story, but his agent must be thrilled to be talking to Vancouver on opening day of negotiations...GM JB overpays all his UFA signings, not to say other GM's dont but he structures them to be buyout proof and adds years to the deal to seal the deal...
