  1. So likely he will play in russia but if he signs he wouldnt play over here this year but rather rest the injury or get surgery?
  2. with the deadline over are we allowed to expan our roster? We cant send players down tho can we, waivers is over? I say this as if we want to give Z grenier and Gaunce a shot will it all be one at a time? give them a few games then thanks go back to utica call up the next player?
  3. obviously it is a playable injury but why doesnt he sit the last game out instead of risking it? If he intends to sign a nhl deal, would show he cares about his health and long term nhl career over an elimination game likely his last in the khl
  4. college hockey playoffs be televised on tsn, maybe we can see brock play a couple times. ?
  5. That end to end was awesome, sure looks promising theres no denying that!
  6. hopefully the injury cant get worse by playing through it. KHL team likely knows he is gone after the season so they likely want him to play, Canucks dont have a say but hopefully its not shoulder surgery that would delay his workouts and impede his training
  7. so sounds like he would have been in the same vote as shinkaruk next training camp, an opportunity to contend for a roster spot
  8. is rodin able to come over for utica playoffs if we sign him. his league is done before then no? Any news on injury rehab timetable?
  9. so add more 2way players, and lose pure offense which just so happens to be an area we need? Dont we have alot more 2way players than scorers?
  10. he is been a C for a while in Utica. So if you are correct we chose to keep the less offensive explosive but more defensive minded player? Because the league is trying to prevent goals ebing scored because there is too many, oh wait we are trying to get more scoring... I hope I am wrong but this just doesnt look like a good move. If granlund can only play C I dont see where he fits, he struggled as a winger apparently...
  11. if we wanted granlund, surely we could have gotten him for less...
  12. good bye gaunce. Last year we acquire Baer he takes Shink spot and shink gets dealt a year later to the day almost. Canucks acquire granlund who is almost what gaunce is, so now to next deadline dont be shocked to see gaunce moved
  13. Yes Granlund had good ahl numbers but they still gave him a shot in the nhl. SInce Granlund was drafted they also got lucky with gaudreau and drafted 2 studs in monahan and Bennett. They saw what Granlund brought in the nhl and decided to trade for a younger prospect with a scoring upside. Dropping Granlund down their depth charts Canucks, saw Shinkaruk make big strides in his 2nd full year of pro hockey, on pace to get around 30 goals in the ahl. Yes he is a winger similar to baertschi but whats wrong with that, he was our only true lw prospect. This also looks like Gaunce is gone. Lets be real what Granlund has to offer is exactly what Gaunce is. A 2 way C who can pk, play C and LW. They give Gaunce 2 nhl games and he scores a goal then gets buried in Utica. Gaunce must see this as a road block for him to make the canucks does he not? Canucks gave Shinkaruk 1 nhl game with 9min of ice time before giving up on him and saying his game wont translate to the nhl, Calgary gave granlund 86 nhl games spread over 3 different nhl seasons. I would say they gave him a true chance before deciding to move on from him. Canucks not so much, a knee jerk reaction. would have thought maybe benning would target Backlund over Granlund
  14. if shinkaruk turns in to a good scoring forward its not gonna make him look good thats for sure, calgary gave up on granlund for a reason did they not? they need a 2way guy for 3c do they not?
  15. Shinkaruk is more pure offense, one shot scores, thats what we lack... we got lots of 2way guys
  16. shinkaruk could have been a 3lw easily with horvat or sutter as his C. more a scoring line than a checking line.
  17. if your gm makes a deal moving out your top producing scoring prospect who he never gave a chance to and he then goes on to produce in the nhl while the acquired player doesnt do much, ya the GM should be under fire
  18. so granlund is a 2 way C? Add that to horvat and sutter How many pure scorers do we have? well 1 less now...who apparently was making strides on his two way game and getting lots of ice in Utica. Bad trade, Granlund hopefully comes in and scores, if he doesnt ppl are gonna go nuts!
  19. alot of pressure on this kid, if he fails to do much and Shinkaruk produces Benning has to be fired no?
  20. Is granlund not coming to the canucks immediately i thought he was on the flames roster?
  21. is rodin close to signing, someone posted benning mentioning baertschi and rodin as wingers we have or something
  22. i whole heartedly agree, but why was Weber recalled when we have Pedan who wont be waiver exempt next year so y not spot him in the rest of this season to see what he can do instead of weber?
  23. ya I wonder if the Canucks would ever consider recalling him? we did with weber, albeit he never played in utica. I just think that higgins could still be used. He is 2m less than burrows. We likely move out vrbata, maybe another forward and can also waive or move cracknell also. I think he will help a team a lot and likely wont cost much at all and we will be retaining. I dont see how the acquiring team really loses much at all by taking a chance on him
  24. Nice SH Goal by Higgins tonight in the win. He played hard and looked good. Sounds like he has taken the demotion well and is putting in the effort. His skating looked good to me. I hope he gets traded for his sake. Is it a a for sure no way we recall him and have him back in our line up? We have weber here yes he never played in utica. I would waive cracknell and have higgins back up here myself. He is a veteran. I know it may be sentimental of me but I think he deserves to be here, this year is his first down year since being a canuck and its very much due to his ankle injury to begin the year. Sure he has lost a step but he is still effective, he is showing it now, yes its the ahl i know that.
  25. He is going to basically following Schneiders blueprint. Not sure if he will stay in the AHL as long, but no need to rush him thats for sure. Was so happy when we picked him, has the size, good character, wont be that far from home either if/when he makes nhl. Any holes or issues in his game can be worked on once in Utica
