I knew Stan was part of the team, but couldn't tell you what exactly he was involved with doing...Now, I do know what Smyl will be up to within the organization. Congrats on the promotion Stan!! Last week this forum was whining and bitching about how Smyl got shafted when he was outed as interim GM when Rutherford took that from him...less than a week later he gets a promotion to work closely WITH Rutherford, talk about PREmaturely getting bent out of shape CDC...Never change!!!

[Discussion] Acquire Jason Zucker?
86Viking replied to 86Viking's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
&^@# man, it was just to discuss a player who had ties to the new coach and Prez...yet I get blasted for bring that up, this is a hockey forum to discuss not Piss on a genuine hockey topic. Oh well, its CDC time to just read and reply Fukc making proposals or anything. Read what I want and likely reduce my replies to next to nothing. Someone else saying this forum is like family/friendships to them...I don't get that vibe at all! -
Jason Zucker is turning 30 next month and is signed till the end of 2023 with a 5.5m cap hit. He had some good seasons under our New coach Boudreau back in Minnesota. He does have a 10 team NTC, but also has familiarity with BOTH Rutherford AND Boudreau. I am not saying the Canucks should actively try and get Zucker, but I remember him back in Minnesota when he did score over 30g while being coached by Boureau. We would have to send some cap back...dare I say Myers if we got back Marino as well in the deal that would include another Canuck. I know Myers has been doing well since Boudreau became coach. Zucker playing under BOTH the new President/interim GM and our New Coach makes me wonder if he might be a player we consider trading for, I know his age is not ideal but only 1 more year after this and could be a tradeable player next TDL if we retain salary and he is producing well for us?? Thanks for your hockey input in advance!! Discuss...

[Report] Canucks hire Derek Clancey as assistant GM

Wish him the best, hoping the team tries to get someone from the Tampa Bay, Colorado or Carolina organization to fill out the rest of those vacancies -
[Report] Canucks hire Derek Clancey as assistant GM

Welcome, what does his resume have on it for us to be excited about? Found some gems scouting as FA's or mid to late round picks? -

Talk about dangling a carrot for the entire forum...3 months till we find out what it is eh!?!? Heal up and be better than before! -
Hoping Canucks will bring Karlsson over to north america next season to play in the AHL and be an option for call up during the year if he adjusts well to the game here/rink size. The optics on paper right now though, they look real bad considering what Dahlen is doing and his bestie type friendship with EP...oh well only time will tell, so lets wait

Proud of this team for coming away with the W after trailing 3-0 after the 1st...that would not have happened under the old regime! We need someone with a bit more size who has some grit, was very sad to see Garland be the guy to be the aggressor to spark the team but good on him...for being short he has more fight than any other player on the team! Might be wishful thinking, but would love for Podkolzin to play more physical and aggressive...the kid sure can take a licking tho as he has been nailed a few times this year, keep your head up we don't need you getting a concussion and having issues from it cause you aren't aware of your surroundings when on the ice in the NHL. Go Canucks Go baby!!! -

What does a great modern NHL 4th line look like?
86Viking replied to Bruce Boudreau's topic in General Hockey Discussion
What has Tampa had on their 4th line? Size and grit with Maroon, Pacquette was decent at faceoffs and had alright size and whoever was the other player on the back to back cup winners -
I wonder if/when Rutherford or tht new GM will make a call to certain players agents to gauge the price to extend certain players. The 2 names that immediately come to mind is Boeser obviously due to his high QO AND Motte a hard working bottom 6 player who gives it his all every game

Would have been impossible for us to do that considering Detroit picked before us and took Zadina -

I say we trade him before the bonus to a team needing G depth for a mid round pick, but doubt that happens before the bonus -
A part of me still wants to see Horvat get re united with Domi at the NHL level, wonder if we would consider signing him as a UFA or making a trade for him this season and extending him? Not a big guy, but plays hard and competes from what I can recall. Also, he is having near ppg this season AWAY from Torts so he won't be cheap to acquire and or sign I suppose??!?

{Discussion} Is anyone else sick of Thomas Drance?

I never understood fans and the hate they have for media...don't like a certain person, don't listen to them when they are on the air or on tv...quite simple! -
[Report] Canucks recall Phillip Di Giuseppe
86Viking replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
Let him work on his game and play everyday in the AHL, could be a call up in spring but I have no problem with this move. It is the right choice, after all Di Giuseppe had a very good training camp and should have been on the opening day roster over Mr. PTO to begin with. Can help on the PK as well which is always nice to have another guy who can PK! -

OJ is with Florida, are we trading to re acquire him? -
I agree about Miller, would have to think Boston is in win now mode with Bergeron a pending UFA etc. JT Miller would fit with them well in my opinion. Could JT Miller and Hamonic/Poolman for Carlo, Frederic, Debrusk and a 1st or 2nd round pick work? We could flip Debrusk to a team for a 2nd round pick and maybe a mid to late rounder as well?

Bobrovsky and Knight have competition now

probably true, but that was signed by a previous GM...
