  1. Montreal committed to Ducharme for the rest of the year, have to wonder now that AV is available if they change their mind? Or, wait till off season then approach AV...he might want a break and gives him ample time to watch and dissect what Montreal has for talent. 100% makes sense for Montreal to bring in AV, is a solid coach with a good track record and load of experience THAT can speak French too!
  2. So we get a legit NHL coach with almost 1000 NHL games coached for less $ than what JB gave Green...should make the Owner quite happy about that, not so much to pay Green to go soak in the sunshine in Anaheim with his family
  3. Spin off thread episode 3 now?? Tyler Motte is a pending UFA, I want us to keep Motte or "Clamato as I like to call him for fun". Tyler Motte shows up every single game to play! Just like our main man Burrows did for us! Tyler Motte is a very good penalty killer who has chipped in some short handed goals for us. Motte is a bit injury prone some might say, but he plays the game hard and finishes his checks and he is NOT afraid to block shots on the PK all while sacrificing his body to do it. Tyler Motte is a versatile player, he was very offensive in College but adapted his playing style to carve out what I think has been a good NHL career so far. He is young enough to fit in with our team for a few more years and might blossom on an offensive minded third line under Boudreau. So to me, once we hire a new GM and he gets to assess the team I hope we try to reach out to Motte's agent and lock him up for a few more years. Of course the big question is at what cost term and cap hit wise? 3-5 years @ or under 2m per? He reminds me of Kraken F Tanev, maybe not exactly the same and I hope not going to cost near that term or cap hit either. If the new GM does not want to retain Motte after this year that would be unfortunate but it would be a "Must Trade" at the TDL. Could we get a 2nd round pick for Motte? Would we be looking to try and get a younger C or defensive D in return and a later pick? Anyways, I know this is not a new style of thread but it was successful in the past and I really hope we keep Motte around for a while, guy has been through a lot in life and spoke out about it which I give him credit and thank him for doing that. First we had Burrows then Hansen now Motte is our "Swiss Army Knife" all situations player who could be put on any line and contribute with his tenacious forecheck and 100% effort night in night out! Thanks for reading if you got this far, now discuss his future with us and a potential contract extension term and $$ wise...
  4. He was and he voiced his opinion on the direction he thought we should go after being here and realizing we just weren't good enough. But the owner went with the guy who said he could turn it around quickly...yet here we sit a few years later finally canning that GM who did NOT succeed with his plan he pitched the owner, it is that simple for me anyway
  5. If we brought Igor Larionov into the fold in some capacity maybe? I would have liked to see the Big Russian this year paired with OEL or QH, the guy can skate quite well for someone so big...Homegrown draft pick D too, we will likely never know the true story about him and if he just played the NHL option to get a better deal in the KHL or if we did offer him an NHL deal but only a 2way or low salary 1 way...meanwhile we gave Poolman 2.5m x 4 years, as much as I would like to see us try and bring him back I won't hold my breath on it happening he can choose any team he wants soon and could see a cheapish contract to go to Tampa/Florida/Washington or any contending team with a couple Russians already on the roster
  6. TL was right about doing a proper rebuild not overpaying UFA's to try and fast track things.
  7. Our prospect pool is weak...a team floundering like us usually would call up a prospect or 2 at this point, we have ZERO NHL ready prospects that fill an area of weakness on our current team.at Areas of need: Centermen who can win a damn faceoff, ideally a right shot C. Penalty killing: I think we have a couple F options we could call up in Di Gusieppe and Lockwood and waive Chiasson and Lammikko/Dowling, we could use a left shooting PK D man as well. Woo should get a call up after the TDL for a handful of NHL games imo, think he will need waivers next season? Mikey D might be an NHL back up G next year, Rathbone might be a trade chip but could also be used under our new coach!? 8 years of drafting under the old GM, we hit on some of our high 1st rounders, a couple 2nd rounders and that is about it. Traded a ton of picks during that time as well, some brought back decent returns and will be interesting to see what a NEW GM will do with someone like JT Miller this TDL and the draft. Can the new GM move some cap off the books in a player like Pearson? No GM is perfect nor is any Coach but I think with some tweaks and a good GM making a few shrewd and tough choices over the next 2 seasons we could turn things around, let's hope we find the right GM for the task!
  8. Excited to see a passionate coach behind the bench for our team! BB is 66 years old, so could be grooming Walker as a potential replacement?? Does anyone know if there is any history between BB and Walker? Or did the owners bring in a familiar face, Walker was with us not too long ago but seems to have left to embark on getting some coaching experience...now here he is! Hope he will be our Martin Gelinas for the Lames, I have to think he will get a head coaching gig sometime soon. No matter how you slice it, this change was long overdue, now it puts the players on notice and they need to show up and put in some real effort for their new coach to gain his trust for ice time etc. So pumped to see changes, hope we take our time and get a good person in as the new full time GM!
  9. Boudreau seems to love talking with the media...does that mean the negative toxic media will have nothing to go at him with cause he has the answers and will say it how it is??
  10. What is the scoop on him? Has he been in Carolina for long and known to be the guy tied to some of their good draft picks?
  11. This move should have been done in the off season, would have saved the owner some cash too! I am excited to see former Canuck Scott Walker back in the organization and see if he can help with the players as a coach
  12. Long overdue...time to be excited about some fresh faces and see where they lead the team tho!!
  13. If not him why not DI Gusieppe, rather have a guy who can PK over Mr. PTO who can stand in front of the net but not do much else...Poor Personnel choices by the coaching staff since training camp in my opinion. Would like to see Lockwood and his energy come up put him and Motte out on the PK together!?
  14. Would prefer us grab someone from a better team who has better drafting
  15. I am 100% fans who want to boo if they paid good $ to go see the Canucks live BUT I am 100% against anyone who throws a jersey on the ice...you are NOT a fan! Way to waste your own or someone else's $250...bandwagoner. The team needs change without a doubt, but tossing your jersey on the ice is classless...hope whoever got the jersey over the boards is over the moon to get a free $250 jersey!
  16. We lost 6-4, lockwood with a goal and Rathbone with his first of the year
  17. I take Di Gusieppe over Chiasson everyday of the week, that guy can help the PK something we are dreadful at. Can put any plug in front of the net on the PP
  18. I will b of the minority but I liked last years approach...a combined GDT/PGT, always found it odd why we had to leave 1 thread to enter another...Normal same GDT not something full of filler with pictures or whatever you kids call that stuff, to me it just is overkill having to scroll down so far just to read the first post....ya call me an old sole and hate me...I am used to it from this site. . Pens should be tired, boys should come out strong and get an early lead. I will be disappointed if it ain't 3w in a row for us, Go Canucks Go!
  19. is he not very similar to Rathbone? More seasoned I would say but kind of a mind boggler why the Kings waived him, has good offensive stats from a quick glance...probably not the best in his own end?
  20. I understand Deb, just feels like I or people today can't express anything without being judged harshly by others. I know sometimes I have made others unhappy with what I write on here but unfortunately for all of you this is my 1 and only social media outlet. Sadly, it gets to be a bit much for me at times and the negativity or lack of response to what I think is insightful hockey talk. Maybe for the best that I leave the site or if possible change my name without people knowing who the new me is without the judgement coming along with it. Life is tough, money is tight for some and me definitely with everything going on. I do come here to vent at times and I am sorry for that but if I don't let it out I don't know what I would do. If I made millions upon millions I would be doing a lot of good with it and the donation amount would be a lot more than $50k, that was my point AND yes EP can surely donate more and to other charities without us knowing it. Sorry for pissing people off, time to leave the site or beome a "new" old member on here or something...
  21. it is 146th of his earnings, so someone making 60k needs to donate $411 in comparison. It is great that he donated, I was just pointing out that 50k to him is not much coin, we rarely here Canuck players make donations...I am sure others do and probably for less amount
  22. Life is too expensive with a young family to donate, personally opinion. We don't make EP40 $$$$ if we did yearly, donation would be much higher...gotta get your tax breaks in however you can when you earn that much and it looks good on you for doing it at the same time. Everything in life goes up in price, too bad jobs don't get appropriate raises to compensate for it...
  23. you may be right, but if he is getting custody of a child that must mean the mom is off the walls bat $&!# crazy and unfit to raise a child at this time hence the evaluation she is undertaking or 2 Kane has been thoroughly checked out and deemed to be a "fit" parent capable or being a single parent( he must have some sort of plan in place considering his occupation he won't be around much for his kid during the hockey season)
  24. Last I checked Canuck fans aren't throwing $2-300 jerseys on the ice after paying close to that amount to enter the arena and watch their team play tho!!!
