  1. Virtanen is so hyped on these boards that it is beyond ridiculous. Kassian is much better than virtanen since he is already a top 6 in the NHL. Who knows if Virtnen even makes the NHL, nevermind being better than kassian.
  2. Trade Kesler next year for McDavid. I'd do that trade or trade him to Florida and get Ekblad.
  3. Wow...never knew Dale Weise was the glue that held this team together and was the most valuable player. He will definitely make the All-Star team next year.
  4. Then later changed his mind and said Vancouver will be taking him at number 6. His name is Craig Button.
  5. I would also love to get Alex Tuch if we did trade Edler for a top 10-15 draft pick. Alex Tuch is 6'4 and has a huge frame. He could be a great player in the NHL.
  6. We don't need to have all our players with the same qualities and characteristics. That would be redundant since we already have Kassian. We need different elements on our team to be successful. We need a mix of skill, size, finesse, toughness, speed etc. Draisaitl provides an element to our team that has been lacking which is great playmaking ability and vision.
  7. It doesn't really mean much. I doubt Linden would care a whole lot about it when it comes to drafting BPA.
  8. Higgins >>>> Weise Santa>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Weise Richardson>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Weise Matthias>>>>Weise Hansen>>Weise Gaunce>>>Weise heck even I would take Tostitos over Weise due to fighting ability and hitting/intimidation factor. Just want to know how this so called hockey goddess, Weise would fit in our team. There just wasn't any room for that pylon. We have a lot better players than Weise that can play on the 4th line and also move up to 3rd or 2nd lines. What we are missing is elite talent outside of Sedins and Kesler. It is the reason why I hope we draft Dal Colle or the german kid. If we assemble 2 consistent scoring lines, then we will be playoff contenders, heck maybe we could go deep in the playoffs.
  9. Well, next year we might have Gaunce, Richardson and Matthias on the 4th line. Would you take weise or any of the mentioned name over them? I don't thinks so. Sedin-Sedin-Jensen Burrows-Kesler-Kassian Higgins-Horvat-Santorelli Gaunce/Hansen-Richardson-Matthias That 4th line would demolish the competition and smoke it. 3 big bodies that can bang, score and defend. It would be a great 3rd line nevermind being a 4th line. That is after we buyout Booth and it doesn't even include any UFA signings and this year's draft pick playing. Of course it could change drastically if we somehow get Bennett or Dal Colle or Draisatil.
  10. Taking Fleury at 6th? Wow...I'd be shocked if that happened. If we were trying to get Fleury, we would be trading down and getting some more picks. It would be the 6th overall for the 12th pick plus a 2nd and 3rd and 4th round pick and maybe more. Fleury will be taken outside of the top 10. My prediction: 1. Ekblad 2. Reinhart 3. Bennett 4. Draistail 5. Ritchie (Burke's idea) 6. Dal Colle 7. Virtanen 8. Ehlers 9. Nylander 10. Kapanen 11. Tuch 12. Fleury 13. etc... Getting Fleury at 6th would be a disaster. Also, we don't need a defenseman unless its a franchise caliber defenseman or a defenseman with superstar potential. I really don't see how Fleury is that type of defenseman. Especially since we have Garrison, Edler, Bieksa, Hamhuis, Tanev and Corrado for the next 3-4 years.
  11. To build a cup winner, you need to surround yourself with people who were cup winners and had experience. Jim Nil was the GM I really liked until Gillis got hired. Bennings is also another assistant GM that comes from an organization that has a winning culture, has won a cup and went to the finals last year again. This year, they have won the presidents trophy and could go to the finals again. If we can get Bennings and hire Quinn as a senior advisor, I have no doubts in my mind that this team will be turning things around for good and I would feel better about our chances of winning the cup. It all starts from the president and GMs that make crucial decision and it trickles down.
  12. The Sedins were franchise type of players. This draft doesn't have players as the same caliber as Sedins. Obviously any GM with half a brain would get the consensus franchise player with their top pick. This years draft isn't that strong and aside from Ekblad, there aren't any other players that really jumps at you with superstar caliber potential. I think Burke sees the 4th to 10th pick as interchangeable once Reinhart and Ekblad are gone.
  13. Hoping Linden is talking to teams that like to move down from the top 5. Maybe a deal with Edmonton that sends Edler + 6th overall for the 3rd overall + Marincin/Klefbom could be made. We all know how Edmonton is disparate to get a top 4 defenseman.
  14. The reason why I don't see the top 5 going as predicted is due to Burke and the fact that most of the times he likes to go a bit off board to pick the player he wants. I see Burke drafting Ritchie or even Virtanen with the 4th overall. Burke would most likely be thinking about size, grit, aggressiveness and toughness. Ritchie is definitely the prototypical type of player Burke will be looking at. NYI could also go for size and pick Virtanen or Ritchie.
  15. I'd take Bennett. BPA, you can always trade him to get a similar caliber player at different position or with different attributes. You never select a lesser player with that pick to suit your needs.
  16. I doubt the Blues would go to the finals if they won against the Hawks. I just can't see them beating LA or Anaheim. The West is too tough for them in the playoffs. Chicago on the other hand, I could see going to the finals if they stay injury free.
  17. Blues choke again and hawks win again. Hawks in 6 I say. Blues should just pack it.
  18. Love Dal Colle. He is exactly the forward the Canucks need to get. I really see him becoming a star in the NHL and if we get him, he might actually make the roster next season.
  19. Just hoping its Draistal or Dal Colle instead of Ritichie. They all have the size to be an impact player though, so we can't really pinpoint if its Ritchie, Virtanen, Tuch etc.
  20. Its not a sure thing but there is a high chance of it happening. We are #6 so it would take only one team to pick a player outside of that consensus top 5. We really don't know what the top 5 teams in the draft are thinking since their draft order can sometimes be really different than the draft order central scouting or other experts have in mind.
  21. What? No way...I feel that Draistal or Dal Colle have the size and skill linden is looking for. Ritchie or Virtanen are not 6'5 guys, they are more like 6'1 which is about the same height or a bit shorter than Dal Colle.
  22. No, this was just a response to the poster who said no one on this draft would be playing in the NHL next year. I was just giving hypothetical scenarios. Obviously in reality, I doubt we would see either Ekblad or Reinhart in canucks uniform next year.
  23. So would you take Draistl (German kid) or Ritchie (good Canadian boy) if it came to that?
  24. Give me Leon or Dal and I'd be a happy camper.
  25. It might be wishful thinking but LEON is who I hope for. Dal Colle is who I expect to drop. Ritchie is who I expect the Canucks might take.
