What direction is that? You mean trade everyone and Tank, wait 5 years and hope the players you drafted aren't Virtanen or Juolevi? While wasting 5 years of Hughes and Pettersson prime years? Or would you trade both of them because of the fear they could pull a Guadreau or Tkatchuk and sign elsewhere? I actually think the direction management chose is the only direction we have to keep the core in place and happy. We will still draft high this year and we got Hronek as well with the 2 draft picks. Hopefully they draft well. I don't know if our scouts were replaced but we don't even know how good they are at drafting with new management compared to the years when we had Judd Bracket in our scouting department. It is why am skeptical about the draft and their drafting abilities until I see the results. If they suck at drafting then it's not a good option for this team to have many picks.

Boeser is not our core player anymore. He is too slow and he has been given so many chances in the top 6 and number 1 PP but he is not worth what he is being paid. I wouldn't mind Boeser at 3 to 4 million max.

I think the management is miles better than previous, it's night and day. Building a contender starts from the management and having good scouts and development program.

[rumours] Canucks NCAA & Euro FA targets
DefCon1 replied to Ted Lasso's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I see everyone is sleeping on Flip Johansson? The Canucks stole him from the wild and he was picked 24th overall in 2018. How come no one is talking about him being on our top 4D? He plays good defense and have 21 points in 51 SHL games this year -

Get rid of Myers in offseason. Why should we sacrifice the season for Myers. He is terrible -

That's probably it? You mean they can't improve on that? They should be signing NCAA Dmen left and right and give them a chance to see which one is the best. Sign Malinski, Hirose and Livingstone. See which are the 2 best and then decide who to keep and who to trade. As of now Canucks have 2 top 4D in Hughes and Hronek and probably a decent enough bottom pair with Bear and OEL. So we still need 2 top 4D men. We could sign Gavrikov and maybe promote or sign an NCAA player. Hughes-Gavrikov Hirose-Hronek OEL-Bear Wolanin, Brisbois , Rathbone -
[Signing] Canucks sign Max Sasson

Add him as a sweetner with Boeser to get rid of his complete cap hit and get picks. Use that cap hit to sign Gavrikov. -

Gavrikov is Hughes partner next season. Just ask Dan Milstein -

So they will buyout OEL, trade Myers and Boeser for sure this off season. -

Nah Hoglander will not be traded. He will be developed more in Abby. He has speed and skills, just need to work on his 2 way game. -

I heard Livingstone and another highly touted college dman Canucks are targetting will probably sign with us. We are definitely the number 1 destination for a lot of these college FAs -

Canucks aren't a bottom 5 team. They never were, only reason they played bad early is due to no Demko and no defensive structure. We are actually a playoff team with the right coach and our #1 goalie playing. -

I think moving Boeser and Myers allows us to add some players like Barbeshev and a Dman -

We all know Canucks play their best in April Remember the bubble playoffs -
Myers has 1 year left and after we pay his 5 mil bonus, he will be owed only 1 million. Its not insanely skillful or a miracle to get rid of Myers. In fact they will trade him this summer to Arizona very easily with maybe a 2024 6th round pick as a sweetner while Arizona will pay him 1 million in real dollars for a 6 mil cap hit. OEL is the only tough contract that we have to deal with. Rest are easy to deal with like Myers, Boeser, Garland, Pearson etc.

Benning did a good job drafting some of the core pieces though. At least he did do something as I think Canucks got the best Dman in their 50 years franchise history in Hughes. They might have also gotten the best center in franchise history in Pettersson. It's why I never thought this team would be bottom feeders this season but I guess we never had the right coach. -

Plot twist, Horvat was the actual cancer and the fans were wrong about Miller this whole time -

Miller is better than Horvat is some facets like physicality and ability to change the game. I felt Horvat was invisible when he wasn't too asking faceoffs or on the score sheet. -

Benning tanked for 7 of the 8 years so he better had drafted those players like Petey or Hughes. We had like 6 top 10 picks and 4 of them were top 5. We also missed on some of the picks like not drafting Tkatchuk instead getting Juolevi or drafting Virtanen instead of Ehlers etc. While Allvin has got us Kuzmenko, Hronik, Joshua, Aman, Beau, Kravatsov, Bloom, Raty, Likker etc. In less than 2 seasons. Kuzmenko is a core piece and is the 2nd best forward on the team after Petersson. Hronek is instantly our 2nd best Dman on the team after Hughes. Benning drafted a couple of gems then surrounded that with a bunch of crap. I believe JR and Allvin can build a cup team and have the pedigree to do it unlike as scout boy Benning
