  1. We have the opportunity to watch a kid that may(likely) become the greatest offensive defenseman in Club history. His defensive play will improve as will his offense once he is paired long-term with a defensive minded partner. I felt he started to look like Rookie Quinn once Hamonic was his partner. Experiments with Benn and a few others was ugly. Why in the hell are we even considering this?
  2. That's bang on. Like I've said on many Jake forums "Million dollar skills. Ten-cent head."
  3. Free Agency is far from complete. We also haven't signed EP or QH at this point. Until that's done I'm not voting on this. We have made some significant changes but the weakest area of our team (Defence) still feels underwhelming. With that said i like the addition of size and some grit with poolman and Schenn and skill with OEL. If OEL can regain his form this will be a steal.
  4. The only thing more dubious than this thread is Schmidt's first pass.
  5. Chatfield was a human turnstile. His nickname should have been "The Baker" because he was always making turnovers. Had interesting speed and a little sandpaper to his game but looked out of his element in the NHL. I would have preferred we gave OJ the ice time and let him learn through his mistakes but I'm not the coach. Another guy that Rathbone has passed on the depth chart.
  6. Million dollar skills. Ten-cent head. Here endeth the story. B-bye.
  7. This is plausible which is like sighting a Unicorn in the proposals forums. The more I think about it the more I like the idea of trading the 9th if we get the right young pieces to put around our core.
  8. Maybe we could get Raymond, Ballard and a 5th for Schmidt. I really didn't understand all the fuss to get this guy in the first place. The Capitals didn't protect him and the Knights were willing to move him for cheap to clear space for a real Top 2 D-man. I wish we had resigned Tanev rather than add this clown to our line-up. Hopefully he goes so I don't spend another season yelling "Really?" at the TV. Delivered more pizzas than Sbisa or Bob Manno (ancient reference) ever did. When they said Schmidt makes a great first pass they didn't elaborate on which team that was to.
  9. He was. I was actually going to comment on this transformation. I'd read about it but only saw Stan during his Lady Byng Days. I did get to a couple of Hawks games in the 70's before Mikita retired. Pit Martin, Cliff Koroll, Keith Magnuson, Bill White, Tony O, Dennis Hull, Jim pappin
  10. This was a hard one. Mikita was a legendary player when I was a kid but i was too focused on Orr and the Bruins and the Canucks. Plus, you rarely got to see Hawks games on TV. His longevity at a high level is also astounding. Still, I ended up voting for Forsberg. My vote had more to do with Forsberg really changing the narrative on Swedish players being soft. Skilled and tough as nails.
  11. The Whole package: Iginla Pure Skill: Marleau I loved the Steamer. Deserves his legendary status with Canucks And New West Bruins fans
  12. Yup. I'll second Perrault. Just can't vote for Messier after the Canuck debacle.
  13. He was great in his time. Still, if there is one position that has changed the most it's goaltending. Espo wouldn't hold a candle to a more technical goalie like Rinne.
  14. Why do people keep trying to trade Boeser? Most consistent and productive player we had last year. Grown into his 200 ft game and led the team in Scoring. Sheer lunacy.
  15. That about sums it up. He lost me immediately with "...the strong performance of Carter Hart..". 3.67 GAA AND .877 Save Percentage.
  16. Hey Mike Milbury!!! See you're still hoping for another GM gig. All the other GM's certainly hope you get hired too.
  17. Well Fred, I doubt very much that Karen and I are in the same grade since I've been watching Canucks hockey since 1971. I am merely referencing a term for those that feel they can demand change in this fashion. Social media rants and message boards will have the effect of the square root of "F" all, It's his business to run. If Karen doesn't like it don't buy tickets, don't watch games and stop buying jerseys, trinkets and fluffy Canucks slippers. Stop spending times on these boards which build web impressions the team then sells to partners. But for god's sakes stop the incessant whining. My response that you clearly determined childish (as if I was still in Grade school) was terse and quick to the point because his argument was like that of a petulant child that had his toy taken away. It got the response it warranted Am I pleased with this season? No. Damn glad I didn't have to pay for my seasons' tickets. Did I expect they might make a GM change? 50/50 I think there are pros and cons for JB and the cons side is growing with a huge setback from last year and the BubbleDome. However, in the light of everything going on today it's pretty high on the trivial and meaningless list. Given a litany of reasons I've chosen to give them a free pass this year. Same results next year and I'll join Karen in the March on Rogers Arena. PS. When taking a shot at someone for their grade/education you tarnish the effect by spelling a simple word like "chance" incorrectly. Cheers Fred65!!!
  18. Knew this win would bring out the "Tank"-gang. Seriously, these are professional athletes that want to win and excel and perform well enough to get another contract. Teams don't tank for a higher draft pick. Just give your heads a shake after pulling them from your ..... Did any of you ever play a sport? Do you have a modicum of pride? Why would anyone want to cheer for a team that deliberately pulls the chute? Rant over. Thank you. That is all.
  19. Intention doesn't matter. At the end of the day he hung a skate and went knee to knee. I'm guessing 2 to 3 games, Edler clearly commits to the hit and Hyman comes inside. Edler shifts. Not saying he may have wanted to shift his entire body and still make the hit but he hung the leg. Gives us sometime to see some of the younger guys. (Silver lining)
  20. I believe I stated that he requires more playing time in the next sentence, which you chose not to quote. I guess we aren't watching with the same set of eyes because he was beaten by far more than just Matthews in his handful of games. I'm generally pretty supportive of guys even when they struggle so it takes some mighty poor play for me to give him a nickname of the Human Turnstile. Anyway, we both agree he needs some more minutes. Cheers!!!
