  1. How much of that was the situation with OEL/management and dumpster roster though? Either way, whether Lyubushkin ends up playing with Hughes, OEL or Rathbone, he'd bring a lot of solid tools this roster desperately needs. They did do well in that role. Unfortunately though, it kind of neutered OEL's offense and meant we weren't getting the most out of him though.
  2. A 2nd pair, RHD with size, who can skate and put up secondary offense with only 2 years remaining, won't be hard to move. https://canucksarmy.com/2022/06/07/the-trade-market-for-canucks-d-tyler-myers-might-be-14-teams-bigger-than-we-thought/ The return may not be AMAZING, but he's easily moveable IMO. If he wasn't such a poor fit here, I'd happily just keep him. But he is, and better fitting D would be cheaper so...
  3. I always figured it would require some sweetener to get Blomqvist too I've mentioned MDP in there before.
  4. Miller + MDP to PIT for Marino, Poulin, Blomqvist and their 1st
  5. I think if he leaned out 5-10 pounds he could get a bit quicker. Not fast, by any means, but quicker.
  6. Myers doesn't play shut down all that well really, and he's a disaster with Hughes. That's a big no from me. And we should be getting a shutdown guy for OEL to free him up, not saddling him with babysitting Boqvist. We need to add solid shutdown guys to complement all our puck movers. Do things like trade for Marino, sign Lyubushkin, move out Myers. Hughes, Marino OEL, Lyubushkin Rathbone/Dermott, Schenn As for Bear, only for depth at/near league min. I'd be fine with that. But we shouldn't be pursuing him at higher $ or for a bigger role.
  7. I'd take a good prospect, and a 2nd (a similar, if lesser return than Fiala). "Faber" equivalent and a 2nd. Keep in mind that the teams looking to add guys are also seeing their options dry up. So while there may be a couple less suitors, the remaining teams options on are quickly dwindling. They'll start to get desperate to ensure they're not left without a seat when the music stops.
  8. The key is to move out the overwhelmingly positive salary like Miller in the first place to get a cuchion. Between that and getting a decent return on Myers, now we don't have other teams holding a cap ceiling "knife" to our throat on guys like Pearson (who has decent'ish value) or more so, Dickenson.
  9. Dang, was hoping we could target Faber. My condolences on your hopeful Kings trade @Coconuts
  10. We start moving out guys like Miller, Myers... maybe Boeser, we're not going to be tight on cap very long. Then it's easier to move guys like Pearson out if management chooses to as teams don't have the tight cap as leverage anymore.
  11. Is the team going to be "finished" and a contender in one offseason? No. Can you start that transformation? Absolutely. No reason we can't get back a right D in the Miller trade that starts to correct our current D core imbalance and succession issues. Maybe a better fitting UFA as well. Target a 3C? Roy in trade or one of Paul/Tierney/Sturm as UFA's. As some gritty guys like the above, Acciari etc. No reason those things can't happen this summer.
  12. By building a better, more cohesive team, with an actual identity. Especially on D (freeing up OEL to contribute more) By adding more speed and grit throughout the lineup. By adding a legit 3C (freeing up Bo). All of that should translate to better defense, better puck possession and better goal differential... Even if we lose some individual talent at the top.
  13. Up to them really. There's only so many more years, squeezing the last drop of juice from their Crosby fruit.
  14. I'd be fine with Marino, Poulin, Blomqvist and their first. Nothing wrong with at all.
  15. *Anymore. Is it too early for Hockey-slavery humour?
  16. Alf already does that. Sometimes in the same post!
  17. I think most of us would. Still there's other teams. I'd be fine with returns from a bunch of other teams if the Rangers aren't willing to play ball.
  18. Yup... $7.5 first year ($6.5 in bonus), $6.5 2nd year ($5.5 bonus), $6m 3rd year ($3m bonus). That leaves $3m of actual salary after that last bonus is paid, gets him lots of lower tax money upfront that's at least as good, if not better, than his QO at straight salary (made in payments over the year) the first year... All for an AAV of $6.66m.
  19. I'd LOVE to acquire K'andre but there's like zero chance the Rangers give him up. We have a better shot of just getting Schneider.
