Because I think it's likely he'd prefer to explore his UFA options, potential UFA value, and with the option to play for a contender and/or a lower tax team (and potentially in his home country). And I don't see a contract that makes sense for Miller, that also makes sense for the Canucks. Good player but ergo, he's not staying. So we need to get value for him and push forward, building without him.

[Rumour] Canucks trying to trade Halak
aGENT replied to VegasCanuck's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
No, I think we'd move Myers to a Dallas, Washington etc who have expiring RD, closing windows etc, and separately move Garland/Boeser for Marino. -
Prepare to be disappointed then. Management has stated numerous times that they plan to over ripen prospects. And both players have lots of work left learning to play D, systems, and more so in Lockwood's case, becoming even more proficient on the PK.

We've heard Karlsson wants to sign (and the Canucks are presumably on board), has there been any word on getting Jasek back to North America?

[Signing] Oilers sign Evander Kane

You think fans ("haters") had anything to do with not signing Kane here...? I think you can thank competent management for that. -

I'm hoping it comes down to the final game of the season against EDM. Win and in... And we send the soilers golfing -
[Rumour] Canucks trying to trade Halak
aGENT replied to VegasCanuck's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Think it's highly likely need prefer to play in the US, on a contender and/or pay less taxes on his retirement deal. Also don't see any deal that works for the Canucks and Miller. He'll be wanting something +/- $8.5x8 and I don't think the Canucks are in any position to give him that contract, for numerous reasons. Exactly, maybe to Dallas or Washington or Pittsburgh etc. They're not going to get a better top 4, RHD D for less money and especially not on only 2 years of term. The term being the key. That's a real nice, low commitment. The return may not be crazy but if we can replace him with some of this other moves (Boeser/Garland for Marino?), get younger, faster etc and clear cap... -

Have to wait and see what happens... I think Miller is definitely gone. One of Garland/Boeser perhaps as well and depending on the returns for some of those guys (younger mid 6 winger, RHD etc), I think there could be an actual off season market for guys like Myers and Pearson (replaced by said trade returns). So, yeah, if they get most of what they'd like accomplished, it might not be a huge concern. Boeser is under club control, it's not the same situation. At all. And the returns were obviously deemed less worthy than the risk of not moving him. He may still very well be moved in the summer. Relax. -
[Rumour] Canucks trying to trade Halak

That ship has sailed. We had to clear something like $8m of cap at the TDL IIRC, to not have his bonuses carry over. We cleared just shy of $2m I think. -
No. And I think Myers would have legit value to teams at the end of their windows (WAS, PIT, BOS, DAL) who don't want term (and have expiring D of their own). They're not going to be able sign a better UFA D for $6x2. In no way should we pay to move him. And we should only move him after/if getting RD back from moving Miller and one of Boeser/Garland. If you replace him with say a Boeser-Marino swap (just an example), you move him for a legit return and save his cap, to use elsewhere.

[Report] Canucks claim Brad Richardson off waivers
aGENT replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
And; that the vast majority of our C prospects are in Europe... Never mind that none of these guys are likely remotely ready to replace the high level PK minutes Motte was playing. Richardson also represents some of that high level of training/practice/play, work habits/"culture" we seem to be missing at times. And if people had been paying attention, management has mentioned numerous times that they will be "overripening" all prospects (sorry to those of you pining for a Rathbone recall as well). Don't expect to see a lot of kids called up to "see how they're doing" they can see how they're doing, just fine, in Abby. And they will get called up when damn good, and over-ready. -

It's hilarious (but unsurprising) how many fans seen not to get it lol. We're not signing Richardson to a $3m x 4 year extension this summer. He's a free, warm body, who can replace some of the PK minutes we traded away with Motte for the remaining, short term, quarter of a season. And he can play C! They've been telegraphing for weeks now that we're weren't likely doing anything major at the TDL. Motte if they couldn't get him signed. Maybe Halak if they could manage it. Hell, dumping Hamonic and getting an actual asset back was AMAZING. Dermot is decent depth, fast, younger and cheaper. Decent enough move. People's expectations being out of whack is a them problem. -
Pretty much called it. Happy to see they moved Hamonic (and for an actual return no less!). Halak would have been nice but was an understandably difficult move to make (so it didn't happen).

olorado is still looking to upgrade with more playoff bound pieces. We have picks, prospects and names like Connor and Farabee potentially available for the right pieces.

[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks

Maybe they'll be more inclined to pony up in the summer, after they get their asses handed to them? -
[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks
aGENT replied to Podzilla's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I mean they made some good "low key" moves...which are great...but they're not really moving the needle a tonne. If I was a Ranger player, I'd be a bit disappointed management didn't feel any urgency to help us push.
