Huberdeau is officially up for sale. We'd be looking for a lesser playoff bound player, prospect and pick +/- Alternately, we'd look at packaging him with Hart for a similar aged, playoff bound goalie +

(Rumour). Jake Livingstone D - NCAA - NHL Availability

ELC length is based on age. The length of the entry-level contract is also dependent on the player’s age: 18-21 years of age: 3 years 22-23 years of age: 2 years 24 years of age (and up to 27 years of age for European players): 1 year -
[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks
aGENT replied to HOFsedins's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I mean AP, Karlsson.... It does happen. But it's not generally the best route to go. I'm praying in a 2-3 years once we're done "retooling", BOS realizes it's time to rebuild and we trade for McAvoy Until then, we need to start actually drafting RD in the first couple rounds and hope one develops in to a top 4 D, while we keep filling in with short term UFA, unsigned college/Euro, and trades etc to try and find something that works. -
Have to think if they offer to extend Horvat, it would signal that they intend to bend their aging curve "rules", keep the band together, and continue to go for it. Otherwise why extend him if they're going in to a retool in the next couple years (which I personally think is dumb as they could be competitive for the next 5+ years easily)?
-
Not sure that's true. But for those that don't like Miller as an option, I wonder if Carolina would like Bo + Garland instead? Fits their competitive window better. But I'm not in likely taking back Kotkaniemi then (or at least not without added value elsewhere).
-
No, they're all problems, forward group included (we lack 2 way defensive forwards and a 3C in particular). And possibly being a "potential bubble playoff team" isn't good enough. It is a mish mash. We only have 3 top 4 D and they're all offensively inclined guys who all need defensively inclined partners to succeed. Which we have exactly one of, who's a 3rd pair/spare D on a legitimate playoff team, is 33, and expiring. That's an f'ing mess. Don't try and tell me that's not a mish mash. It is.

Maybe future considerations can help us attract Player Name as a UFA!? -
[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks
aGENT replied to HOFsedins's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Yeah, I mean I'm expecting Horvat gone at this point, but as hard as some on CDC have tried to convince themselves, he's not the "problem". Replacing Boeser, Garland, our currently non existent 3C (hell basically an entire missing 3rd line), 1 or 2 4th liners, Schenn, Myers... Is pretty major changes ("surgery"). -
Oh we've all seen the quotes NUMEROUS times Fact is, fence sitters don't win cups. Adding Horvat and Miller would make them absolute cup favourites IMO. And likely keep them there the next few years. Like it or not, now is there window to win if they're going to go for it. Pretty soon Slavin, Pesce, Necas, Jarvis and Aho are going to need raises and seriously test their cap management and willingness to hold to their aging curves philosophy anyway (and either route likely leads to the beginning of the end anyway). The meat of their window is very much now, and the next couple years. And Miller is the reason we take Kotkaniemi and his under performing, and risky term, back. Like I said right off the bat though, this is likely fantasy as deals like this just don't happen anymore. But IMO the basic structure is solid.

Now granted, given the size of this deal, it's HIGHLY unlikely this happens but... With Patches out... Carolina could technically afford to add both Horvat AND Miller if we take a bit of cap back (Necas or Kotkaniemi), as they currently have almost $7.9m+/- of unused LTIR space. Then they have Staal, Patches, Fast, Stastny, Anderson and Raanta all coming off this summer. Bring Staal, Fast and Raanta back on cheaper deals, promote Kochetkov full time and they should have the cap for both and still have cash to round out the roster with depth guys. Staal at $2m, Fast and Raanta at ~$1.5 each ($3 total), Kochetkov at $2 and Horvat and Miller for a combined ~$15m + the $57m they already have allocated (minus Necas/Kotkaniemi) is only ~$76/$74m. Which should leave them ~$10m to fill out the remaining 4 remaining, bottom of the roster, spots. Guessing they don't give up Necas sadly...and to be fair Kotkaniemi's contract likely offsets some of the risk of sending them Miller's. So... Kotkaniemi, Drury, Morrow, one of Nikishin/Seeley, their 1st +/- Have to think that'd push them to be favourites for the cup. If it got serious enough, maybe even with a Horvat extension in place/agreed on. And in that case, I think it definitely earns another 2nd or lesser prospect (Honka/Heimosalmi/Suzuki). Also crosses a lot of our apparent checklist off. Kotkaniemi is an "young roster player". Drury's had some NHL games and is probably straddling the roster player/prospect line. None of Morrow/Seeley/Nikishin are likely terribly far off either.

No not rob...that's still pretty good value for two legit top 6 players. Have to think that'd push them to be favourites for the cup. [Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks

He's still a +/- 50 point, legit NHL player, with 20+ goal production, that teams would definitely take a low cost gamble on, can return some previous form in a new situation. Regardless of what CDC thinks, that still has actual value. And if we can get a useful 3rd liner with speed and decent 2-way/defense/pk ability, or a flyer on a young but thus far underwhelming right D, while saving ~half the cap space and with less term, while returning even more/better futures... I take that all day long. Taking a bit of cap back also opens up a LOT more suitors/increases bidding. -
Not that I think it's likely (though what a freaking blockbuster that would be!)...but lets spitball what the return would be... Guessing they don't give up Necas sadly...and to be fair Kotkaniemi's contract likely offsets some of the risk of sending them Miller's. So... Kotkaniemi, Drury, Morrow, one of Nikishin/Seeley, their 1st +/- Maybe we can sneak in one of Honka/Heimosalmi/Suzuki...or a 2nd or...

[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks
aGENT replied to HOFsedins's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
There's been almost no trades made with any teams. This was always going to happen closer to the TDL (which is mercifully approaching). Boeser doesn't have a LOT of value, but he does have some (rumoured to be ~ a late 2nd from a contender, with no cap/retention coming back). If we take back cap, it gets a little better which is why some of us are discussing other "ok" but underwhelming players like Kapanen or Fabbro as potential returns (+picks/prospects). Young guys, with lower ceilings, who might otherwise potentially fill a roster need we have, at less cap, that expires sooner. -
OK, ~$9m to fill out 4, bottom of the lineup, roster spots

[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks
aGENT replied to HOFsedins's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
And if that's the case, what are we going to get for him? Teams usually do medical check ups, particularly on currently injured players, before finalizing trades. If he's broken, they'll find out. Doesn't really make any sense. -

I'd be fine retaining $1-2m on Myers personally. -

[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks
aGENT replied to HOFsedins's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
They actually have $11,050, 000 in LTIR (not including Kase) and are currently using $3,157,777 of it. So (assuming they have close to full LTIR maximization), they should have almost $7.9m of available LTIR AFAIK. Then they have Staal, Patches, Fast, Stastny, Anderson and Raanta all coming off this summer and can more than afford to give Horvat an extension. Hell, they could probably add both Miller and Horvat if we took a bit of cap back or retained Like I said, he/his play style, position at 2C and ability to score all fit how Brind'Amour has them playing. And they have the assets we'd need to send back. They just need to stop playing safe and actually GO for it. -
[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks
aGENT replied to HOFsedins's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
So long as they're ok not fence sitting and playing it safe for once, and actually want to go for it (they should), they make the most sense IMO. Bo and his play style would fit that team like a glove, at arguably their only weakness (scoring 2C). They have the assets to acquire him that we need. Writes itself if they stop playing safe. (Fence sitters don't win cups).
