  1. Pretty much this. I'm concerned, but I'm not in full on panic mode like most of the fanbase seems to be yet. This could very well be similar to the deafening noise heard in Colorado before the Duchenne trade... Or it could be a complete gong show and we're in for some dark times I think this TDL (and summer) will say a lot as to which of those, this is. I feel for Bruce as he's a good guy and the roster isn't his responsibility. But he hasn't gotten this team to play with anything resembling structure or puck support either. Like him or not, that's a coaching failure. And I don't really have any desire to get caught up in the "as the world turns" dynamic of how the fanbase feel he's been "treated".
  2. It's too bad they already moved Faber. Would have been a good fit here. But they certainly do have some other nice pieces.
  3. Yeah, the goalie/ED situation was what it was. Who was management at the time doesn't really matter. Tanev, was the biggest loss there and even then, I get with the age, injuries etc that there was certainly reason to move on there. The problem is that we never replaced him. I more upset that they didn't move Virtanen that year while he still had some semblance of value. I would have added to him to get the also at the time, struggling "18 year old". Imagine how much better we'd look right now with Bennett at 3C....
  4. Yeah that's pretty weak, especially with JK's contract. JK, Morrow, a first and one of Seeley/Nikishin for taking on the risk of JK's contract... Then you have something.
  5. Maybe. Be a shame to see that team go to waste, withering on the vine.
  6. I find it very hard to believe the Canes aren't interested as well.
  7. I'm not opposed to people redeeming themselves. And he's a HELL of a coach. But he'd have to jump through a LOT of hoops to even be considered. We're talking counseling/training, charity work and $ for fair play organizations, and a big "I F'd up" press conference completely owning what happened there and his part in it. And the league would have to ok his return as well.
  8. Not saying you're wrong about ages etc, just that they've been VERY careful about their management thus far. IMO it would be uncharacteristic to see them make a move like this.
  9. Yup, even if we have to add a bit. Horvat + Schenn + one of our 4ths for Wright, Borgen and 1st. That said, I doubt a trade happens with SEA. I'm sure they'd be interested for the right price, but I can't see them with the winning bid given they're not even 2 years in to their existence and not really in position to start pushing chips in.
  10. Yup, happily take him or Seeley as part of the deal coming back. Particularly with the added risk of JK's deal.
  11. This: Also gives him defacto trade control and alters/reduces the market and hence return. Permission to talk extension is something you consider when you've basically got a deal hammered out and agreed upon, the team has offered you extra pieces for the right to do so, and you've spoken to Horvat/his agent on whether it's somewhere they'd seriously consider extending, for something near what the other team considers a reasonable opening offer. Until then, you negotiate based on the teams getting his rights until July.
  12. I'd do it for Cernak + picks +/- but I doubt they would. Hughes-Cernak though....
  13. Yeah, I hope everyone was assuming this was extended Horvat in this "Horvat for Wright" discussion. Wright for a couple month rental makes no sense whatsoever. For an extended Horvat however... And even then I'm doubtful they're THAT interested at this stage, 2 years in to their existence. But we be spit-ball'n.
  14. Fence sitters don't win the cup though. Eventually you need to push your chips in, or just be a good team that never won.
  15. I'd be circling back to other teams in that case. CAR in particular. Could say that about a few players, sure. But again, circumstantial. I didn't comment on what Bo should be paid. You also have no idea what Bo thinks. I don't think he's underrated at all. I think @Shayster007's valuation is probably close.
  16. Again, it's not that I'm married to JL, I'd move him. I just don't feel like we need to add him to Bo. I mean if there was additional pieces coming...sure. But just for Wright? I'll agree he looks like he's checked out a bit, but that's circumstantial IMO. He's on a crap team, with a poorly constructed roster, and yet again no prospects of playoffs, who saw the team prioritize an older guy who's allergic to D and prone to tantrums over him. I can hardly blame him for not giving it the proverbial "110%" here. You'll likely see a fired up Bo if/when he gets traded to a playoff team. He's been a consistent producer with nobodies for wingers, who's one of the top face off guys in the league, a leader, and VERY well respected league wide. It has nothing to do with this year.
  17. Yup, I'd likely want at least a secondary piece, even if we have to add a bit on our end. Something like: Horvat + Schenn + one of our two 4th's For Wright + Borgen and their 1st...give or take. We get the younger Borgen, they replace him with the experienced vet Schenn for their playoff run, we get a late first to mitigate the risk Wright never becomes as good as Horvat is now, they get the 4th for the likelihood he has a higher ceiling.
  18. I don't believe the underlined whatsoever. I'm happy to add Wright, who I agree is a very good prospect (and the cap savings), just don't think we should be adding JK to Horvat, who is currently the superior NHL player, with a consistent and excellent track record.
  19. I usually just change it to "please" when I'm singing. Seems solidly, politely Canadian. "Please keep our land"
